Dear Editor Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is among the most com-mon cancers worldwide,causing about 600,000 deaths annully[1].In HCC,stem cell-like characteristics,which drive early recurrence and therapy resistance,are major contributors to poor prognosis[2].In this current study,we integrated and analyzed gene expression data from human fetal liver cells and primary HCC tumors(n=1231)*** two clinically and biologically distinct hepatic stem cell(HS)subtypes,potential biomarkers associated with these subtypes,and a potential new therapeutic inter-vention for these subtypes.

This work addresses the nonlinear dynamic behavior of different electrostaticmicro-tweezers,amicro electric *** actuator,a cantilever beamelectrostatic micro-tweezers,has been extensively used in micro-electro-mechanical systems(MEMS).The importance of micro electric actuators manufactured is higher than the other part of MEMS since it is the power source of the entire micro-electro-mechanical *** actual operation,the instability and bad dynamic characteristics of the electric actuators will cause larger displacement mobility error,such as transport behavior and response procedures failure,etc.,and even damage the micro-electro-mechanical *** improve the actuator dynamic displacement accuracy,the dynamic behavior in the electric actuator system must be studied,especially for nonlinear dynamic behavior of *** this work,the differential quadrature method(DQM)was employed to solve the problem of nonlinearity in the equation of *** results reveal that the proposed DQM model can be used to simulate the nonlinear behavior of the micro-tweezers efficiently Micro-tweezers of various shapes were studied to examine the feasibility of applying the DQMin analyzing their nonlinear *** simulated results agree very closely with the calculated and experimental data in the literature.

Direct identification of monolayer rhenium diselenide by an individual diffraction pattern

In the current extensive studies of layered two-dimensional （2D） materials, compared to hexagonal structures such as graphene, hBN, and MoS2, low- symmetry 2D materials have shown great potential for applications in anisotropic devices. Rhenium diselenide （ReSe2） possesses the bulk space group P1 and belongs to the triclinic crystal system with a deformed cadmium-iodide-type structure. Here, we propose an electron diffraction-based method to distinguish the monolayer ReSe2 membrane from multilayer ReSe2 and its two different vertical orientations. Our method is also applicable to other low-symmetry crystal systems, including both triclinic and monoclinic lattices, as long as their third unit-cell basis vectors are not perpendicular to the basal plane. Our experimental results are well explained by kinematical electron diffraction theory and the corresponding simulations. Generalization of our method to other 2D materials, such as ~：raphene, is also discussed.

Particle velocity measurement of binary mixtures in the riser of a circulating fluidized bed by the combined use of electrostatic sensing and high-speed imaging

The flow dynamics of binary particle mixtures in the fluidized bed needs to be monitored in order to optimize the related industrial *** this paper,electrostatic sensing and high-speed imaging are applied to measure the velocities of polyethylene and sand particles in the binary particle mixtures in *** studies were conducted on a lab-scale cold circulating fluidized *** function between electrostatic signals from upstream and downstream electrodes placed along the riser shows two peaks that represent transit times for the two types of *** verify the above results,high-speed imaging was adopted to capture the flow images of particle *** Image Velocimetry and Particle Tracking Velocimetry algorithms were utilized to process the resulted images in order to measure the velocities of polyethylene and sand *** reasons for two-peak correlation functions are illustrated based on the frequency spectrums of the mono-solid-phase electrostatic signals and the velocity difference between polyethylene and sand ***,comparisons on the velocities obtained from electrostatic sensing and high-speed imaging demonstrate the electrostatic sensor can roughly estimate the particle velocity of binary particle mixtures in the near wall region of the circulating fluidized bed.

Experimental investigation of closed-loop active control to modulate coherent structures by mu-level method

The experimental research on zero-net-mass-flux jet closed-loop active control was conducted in the wind *** mu-level method successfully detected burst events of the coherent structures. The streamwise velocity signals in the turbulent boundary layer were measured by hwa. The drag reduction rate of 16.7% is obtained comparable to that of the open-loop control and saves 75% of the input energy at the asynchronous 100 V/160 Hz control case, which reflects the advantages of the closed-loop control. The experimental findings indicate that the intensity increases in the near-wall *** perturbation of the PZT vibrators on the skewness factor is concentrated in the region y+< 60. The generation of highspeed fluids is depressed and the downward effect of high-speed fluids weakens. The alteration of energy distribution and the discernible impact of modulation between structures of varying scales are observed. The correlation coefficient exhibits a strong positive correlation, which indicates that the large-scale structures produce modulation effect on small-scale *** occurrence of burst events is effectively suppressed. The disturbance has the characteristics of stable periodicity,positive and negative symmetry, low intermittency, and high pulsation strength. The conditional phase waveform shows that the fluctuation amplitude increases, indicating amplitude modulation effects on coherent structures.

Diagnostic value of maximal-outer-diameter and maximal-mural-thickness in use of ultrasound for acute appendicitis in children

MM： To evaluate the maximal-outer-diameter （MOD） and the maximal-mural-thickness （MMT） of the appendix in children with acute appendicitis and to determine their optimal cut-off values to diagnose acute appendicitis.METHODS： In total, 164 appendixes from 160 children between 1 and 17 years old （84 males, 76 females; mean age, 7.38 years） were examined by high-resolution abdominal ultrasound for acute abdominal pain and the suspicion of acute appendicitis. We measured the MOD and the MMT at the thickest point of the appendix. Patients were categorized into two groups according to their medical records： patients who had surgery （surgical appendix group） and patients who did not have surgery （non-surgical appendix group）. Data were analyzed by MedCalc v.9.3. The rank sum test （Mann-Whitney test） was used to evaluate the difference in the MOD and the MMT between the two groups. ROC curve analysis was used to determine the optimal cut-off value of the MOD and the MMT on diagnosis of acute appendicitis.RESULTS： There were 121 appendixes （73.8%） in the non-surgical appendix group and 43 appendixes （26.2%） in the surgical appendix group. The median MOD differed significantly between the two groups （0.37 cm vs 0.76 cm, P〈 0.0001）, and the median MMT also differed （0.15 cm vs 0.33 cm, P 〈 0.0001）. The optimal cut-off value of the MOD and the MMT for diagnosis of acute appendicitis in children was 〉 0.57 cm （sensitivity 95.4%, specificity 93.4%） and 〉 0.22 cm （sensitivity 90.7%, specificity 79.3%）, respectively.CONCLUSION： The MOD and the MMT are reliable criteria to diagnose acute appendicitis in children. An MOD 〉 0.57 cm and an MMT 〉 0.22 cm are the optimal criteria.

Characterization of transgenic mice expressing EGFP under the control of the monkey 20α-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase promoter

To directly assess the molecular function of the monkey 20α-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase （20α-HSD） promoter, we generated transgenic mice （tg） expressing enhanced green fluorescent protein （EGFP） under control of this promoter. We demonstrated that prostaglandin F2α induced 20α-HSD promoter activity in CHO cells in a dose-dependent manner. Furthermore, forskolin treatment markedly reduced 20α-HSD promoter activity, and prolactin exhibited weak inhibitory activity. The transgenic mouse obtained one positive founder male. The transgene was propagated in 10 successive generations without any notable defects to the progeny. EGFP and 20α-HSD in the tg mice were colocalized in the luteal cells of the ovary during late pregnancy. Strong EGFP and 20et-HSD protein signals were also detected in the adult testis. Immtmohistochemical analysis revealed high EGFP levels in the seminiferous epithelium, whereas 20α-HSD was expressed in the seminiferous tubules. Our data suggest that the ovaries in monkey and mouse exhibit similar expression patterns of 20α-HSD during pregnancy. However, the expression pattern of EGFP in tg mice testis slightly differed from that of the endogenous 20α-HSD. Further investigation is required to elucidate the functional mechanisms underlying regulation of the monkey 20α-HSD promoter in the tg mice.

Highly efficient blue organic light-emitting diodes using various hole and electron confinement layers

In this Letter, blue phosphorescence organic light-emitting diodes （PHOLEDs） employ structures for electron and/or hole confinement; 1,3,5-tris（N-phenylbenzimiazole-2-yl）benzene is used as a hole confinement layer and tris-（phenylpyrazole）iridium [Ir（ppz）3] is utilized for an electron confinement layer （ECL）. The electrical and optical properties of the fabricated blue PHOLEDs with various carrier-confinement structures are analyzed. Structures with a large ehergy offset between the carrier confinement and emitting layers enhance the charge-carrier balance in the emitting region, resulting from the effective carrier confinement. The maximum external quantum efficiency of the blue PHOLEDs with the double-ECLs is 24.02% at 1500 cd/m^2 and its luminous efficiency is 43.76 cd/A, which is 70.47% improved compared to the device without a carrier-confinement layer.

PIV Measurement of Velocity Distribution in the Moderator Circulation Test (MCT)

Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) has been carrying out a scaled-down moderator test program to simulate the CANDU-6 moderator circulation phenomena during steady state operation and accident conditions. The Moderator Circulation Test (MCT) facility was designed and constructed as 1/4 scale of the prototype of CANDU-6 reactor. In the present work spatial distribution of two-dimensional velocity in the MCT facility under isothermal condition was measured using planar Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) system which consists of double pulsed laser, synchronizer, and high speed camera. TSI’s Insight TM 4G software was used to perform PIV image capturing, PIV calculation and post processing. 10 μm sized silver-coated hollow sphere particles were used as flow tracer particles. Multiple experiments were conducted to cover large area of the MCT facility with limited field of view of a single camera. Instantaneous and averaged velocity field were analyzed for each spatial position and flow rate. This research is capable of offering validation data for self-reliant CFD tools to predict moderator subcooling margin in CANDU-6 reactor.

Background: Understanding the composition of the microbial community and its functional capacity during weaning is important for pig production as bacteria play important roles in the pig’s health and growth performance. However,limited information is available regarding the composition and function of the gut microbiome of piglets in ***, we performed 16 S rRNA gene and whole metagenome shotgun sequencing of DNA from fecal samples from healthy piglets during weaning to measure microbiome shifts, and to identify the potential contribution of the early-life microbiota in shaping piglet health with a focus on microbial stress responses, carbohydrate and amino acid ***: The analysis of 16 S rR NA genes and whole metagenome shotgun sequencing revealed significant compositional and functional differences between the fecal microbiome in nursing and weaned piglets. The fecal microbiome of the nursing piglets showed higher relative abundance of bacteria in the genus Bacteroides with abundant gene families related to the utilization of lactose and galactose. Prevotel a and Lactobacil us were enriched in weaned piglets with an enrichment for the gene families associated with carbohydrate and amino acid metabolism. In addition, an analysis of the functional capacity of the fecal microbiome showed higher abundances of genes associated with heat shock and oxidative stress in the metagenome of weaned piglets compared to nursing ***: Overal, our data show that microbial shifts and changes in functional capacities of the piglet fecal microbiome resulted in potential reductions in the effects of stress, including dietary changes that occur during *** results provide us with new insights into the piglet gut microbiome that contributes to the growth of the animal.
