Differences in physical and structural characteristics of seeds may indicate variability within and between plant *** the present study,we performed a close characterization of dimension,shape,and tegument delayed chlorophyll fluorescence in seeds obtained from three species of the genus Annona(Annonaceae),i.e.,Annona coriacea,***,*** showed that studied seeds may be sorted as scalene ellipsoids expressing low values for the seed *** morphological estimates suggested differences in seed shape for all species.A high correlation was observed between surface area and volume(r^2>99%)for all the three species suggesting that in addition to structural *** addition,we also observed very high positive correlations(Rho=1.000,pbetween surface area and arithmetic mean diameterof the seeds for all *** first principal component(PCA1)of elliptical Fourier descriptors explained most of the variations in morphological structure of the seeds in the three ***,a less intense tegument delayed chlorophyll fluorescence was observed for *** while the highest intensity was recorded for ***,revealing the potential use of fluorescence spectroscopy in discrimination at the species level by analyzing the frequency domain by means of Fourier Transform spectra as well as the relationship time-frequency of chlorophyll fluorescence.

A combined tectono-climatic control on Holocene sedimentation in Ladakh Himalaya,India: Clues from Anisotropy of Magnetic Susceptibility(AMS) of lake sediments

Anisotropy of Magnetic Susceptibility(AMS) data from a ～27.8 m thick soft sedimentary mud sequence(～10.5-3.25 k yrs) from the Spituk Palaeolake Sequence(SPSS) of Holocene age, located in the northern bank of the Indus River in the Leh-Ladakh Himalaya, show effects of tectonic versus climate dynamics responsible for the Himalayan sedimentation. The sedimentary sequence, consisting of alternating of aeolian sand and glacio-fluvial mud flow deposits, has been subdivided into an older Last Glacier Phase I(LGP 1) and a younger Last Glacier Phase II(LGP 2), where the termination of each phase is marked by the occurrence of gravel beds of thickness ≤1 m, which were deposited due to glacial melting. The present AMS data along with previously published information on sedimentology confirm that the mudflow deposits of the LGP 1 and LGP 2phases were deposited in a lacustrine environment under glacio-fluvial conditions. However, a weak fluvial flow towards NW and NE could have existed for the LGP 1 and LGP 2, respectively. The glacial beds terminating LGP 1 and LGP 2 appear to have formed by climatic warming and tectonic activity, respectively. Hence, the Holocene Himalayan sedimentation was influenced by both climatic and tectonic activities. However, the thickness of the gravel bed(～0.8 m) terminating LGP 2 occupies only ～ 2.8 vol % of the total studied thickness～28 m, of the SPSS in the present study, which indicated a lesser control of tectonism in the growth of the Himalaya in and around the study area.

Uncovering Microstructure-Property Relationship in Ni-Alloyed Fe-Mn-Al-C Low-Density Steel Treated by Hot-Rolling and Air-Cooling Process

This paper focuses on the relationship between the microstructure and tensile properties of Fe-Mn-Al-C low-density high-strength steel processes by hot-rolling and air-cooling process. The microstructure analysis reveals that the combination of hot-rolling and air-cooling results in the formation of heterogeneous structures comprising different-sized γ and b_(2) phases in the low-density steel with the addition of nickel (Ni). The addition of Ni promotes the formation of the b_(2) phase and induces the pinning of b_(2) phase particles at the γ grain boundaries. This pinning effect effectively hinders the growth of the γ grains, leading to grain refinement. The tensile test results demonstrate that LDS-5Ni (low-density steel, LDS) exhibits excellent high strength and ductility combination, e.g., a tensile strength of 1535 MPa, yield strength of 1482 MPa, and elongation of 23.3%. These remarkable mechanical properties are primarily attributed to the combined strengthening contributions of grain refinement and duplex nano-sized second-phase precipitation hardening.

In this paper,we consider a nonlinear ratio-dependent prey-predator model with constant prey refuge in the prey *** Allee and fear phenomena are incorporated explicitly in the growth rate of the prey *** qualitative behaviors of the proposed model are investigated around the equilibrium points in *** bifurcation including its direction and stability for the model is also *** observe that fear of predation risk can have both stabilizing and destabilizing effects and induces bubbling phenomenon in the *** is also observed that for a fixed strength of fear,an increase in the Allee parameter makes the system unstable,whereas an increase in prey refuge drives the system toward ***,higher values of both the Allee and prey refuge parameters have negative impacts and the populations go to ***,we explore the variation of densities of the populations in different bi-parameter spaces,where the coexistence equilibrium point remains *** simulations are carried out to explore the dynamical behaviors of the system with the help of MATLAb software.

The corrosion behavior and mechanism of 3Ni weathering steel in a simulated oceanic atmospheric environment are investigated in order to comprehend the impacts of La,as determined through electrochemical analysis and rust layer *** results of this study demonstrate that the addition of La enhances the corrosion resistance of 3Ni weathering steel in the marine atmospheric environment,thereby reducing the corrosion rate and improving the protection of the rust *** influence of La on corrosion resistance can be attributed to two primary ***,La functions as a grain refiner,minimizing the potential difference of the micro-regions on the substrate surface,thereby significantly reducing the corrosion of bare steel in the marine ***,La inhibits the process of Fe_(3)O_(4) oxidation back toγ-FeOOH during corrosion at the local site,thus decreasing the formation ofγ-FeOOH and enhancing the charge transfer *** research work may serve as a reference for expanding the application of rare earth elements in the field of weathering steel.

In this paper,a nonlinear mathematical model is proposed and analyzed to study the depletion of forestry resources caused simultaneously by population and population pressure augmented *** control of population pressure,using economic efforts is also considered in the modeling *** is assumed that cumulative biomass density of forestry resources and the density of population follow logistic *** is further assumed that the density of population and the level of industrialization increase as the cumulative biomass density of forestry resources *** cumulative density of economic efforts,which are applied to control the population pressure,is considered to be proportional to the population *** model analysis shows that as the population pressure increases,the level of industrialization increases leading to decrease in the cumulative biomass density of forestry *** is found that if population pressure is controlled by using some economic efforts,the decrease in cumulative biomass density of forestry resources can be made much less than the case when no control is *** is also noted that if the population pressure augmented industrialization increases without control,the forestry resources may become extinct.

Influence of Hall current and Joule heating on entropy generation during electrokinetically induced thermoradiative transport of nanofluids in a porous microchannel

A comprehensive theoretical study of entropy generation during electroki-netically driven transport of a nanofluid is of prime concern in the paper. The flow is considered to take place on a wavy channel under the action of an external transverse magnetic field and an external pressure gradient. Navier slips at the walls of the channel and thermal radiation have been taken into account in the study. The theoretical study has been carried out by developing a mathematical model by taking into account the effects of Joule heating, viscous dissipation, and the transverse magnetic field on heat transfer during the electrokinetic transport of the fluid. The derived analytical expres-sions have been computed numerically by considering the nanofluid as a mixture of blood and ferromagnetic nanoparticles. Variations in velocity, streaming potential, temperature distribution, Nusselt number, and bejan number associated with the electrokinetic flow in capillaries have been investigated by the parametric variation method. The results have been presented graphically. The present investigation reveals that streaming potential decreases due to the Hall effect, while for the cooling capacity of the microsystem, we find an opposite behavior due to the Hall effect. The study further reveals that the fluidic temperature is reduced due to increase in the Hall current, and thereby thermal irreversibility of the system is reduced significantly. The results presented here can be considered as the approximate estimates of blood flow dynamics in capillaries during chemotherapy in cancer treatment.

Electro-osmotic flow and heat transfer of a non-Newtonian fluid in a hydrophobic microchannel with Navier slip

In this paper, we investigate the implications of electro-osmosis on electrohydrodynamic transport of a non-Newtonian fluid on a hydrophobic micro-channel by developing a suitable analytical method. Velocity-slip and temperature-jump conditions are paid due attention. An attempt has been made to examine the effects of rheological and electro-osmotic parameters on the kinematics of the fluid. The nonlinear Poisson-boltzmann equation governing the formation of the electrical double layer and the body force that is generated by the applied potential are accounted for in the study. Perturbation solutions are presented. In order to exhibit the applicability of the analysis, the problem of electro-osmotic flow and heat transfer of blood in an arteriole has been taken up as an illustrative example of a real-life problem. An intensive quantitative study has been made through numerical computation of the physical variables involved in the analysis, which are of special interest in the study. The computational results are presented graphically. The study reveals that the temperature of blood can be controlled by increasing/decreasing the Joule heating parameter.
