Introduction Why do we focus on human liver biliary organoids?The three-dimensional(3D)organoid approach is emerging as a powerful tool for basic study and biomedical applications due to its excellent recapitulation of the structure and functions of the primary tissues[1-3].Liver biliary organoids are derived from the biliary tree,which includes the intrahepatic bile duct(IHBD)and extrahepatic bile duct(EHBD).

A buckling model of Timoshenko micro-beam with local thickness defects is established based on a modified gradient elasticity.By introducing the local thickness defects function of the micro-beam,the variable coefficient differential equations of the buckling problem are obtained with the variational principle.Combining the eigensolution series of the complete micro-beam with the Galerkin method,we obtain the critical load and buckling modes of the micro-beam with defects.The results show that the depth and location of the defect are the main factors affecting the critical load,and the combined effect of boundary conditions and defects can significantly change the buckling mode of the micro-beam.The effect of defect location on buckling is related to the axial gradient of the rotation angle,and defects should be avoided at the maximum axial gradient of the rotation angle.The model and method are also applicable to the static deformation and vibration of the micro-beam.

Slope stability prediction research is a complex non-linear system problem.In carrying out slope stability prediction work,it often encounters low accuracy of prediction models and blind data preprocessing.Based on 77 field cases,5 quantitative indicators are selected to improve the accuracy of prediction models for slope stability.These indicators include slope angle,slope height,internal friction angle,cohesion and unit weight of rock and soil.Potential data aggregation in the prediction of slope stability is analyzed and visualized based on Six-dimension reduction methods,namely principal components analysis(PCA),Kernel PCA,factor analysis(FA),independent component analysis(ICA),non-negative matrix factorization(NMF)and t-SNE(stochastic neighbor embedding).Combined with classic machine learning methods,7 prediction models for slope stability are established and their reliabilities are examined by random cross validation.Besides,the significance of each indicator in the prediction of slope stability is discussed using the coefficient of variation method.The research results show that dimension reduction is unnecessary for the data processing of prediction models established in this paper of slope stability.Random forest(RF),support vector machine(SVM)and k-nearest neighbour(KNN)achieve the best prediction accuracy,which is higher than 90%.The decision tree(DT)has better accuracy which is 86%.The most important factor influencing slope stability is slope height,while unit weight of rock and soil is the least significant.RF and SVM models have the best accuracy and superiority in slope stability prediction.The results provide a new approach toward slope stability prediction in geotechnical engineering.

A series of Ce_(1-x)Ti_(x)O_(2)mixed oxide catalysts were synthesized by sol-gel method and then loading of noble metal(M=Pt,Rh,Ru)was used for soot oxidation.Ti-doped Ce_(1-x)Ti_(x)O_(2)catalysts(x is the molar ratio of Ti/(Ti+Ce)and ranges from 0.1 to 0.5)exhibit much better oxidation performance than CeO_(2)catalyst,and the Ce_(0.9)Ti_(0.1)O_(2)catalyst calcined at 500℃has the best catalysis activity.Each noble metal(1 wt%)was supported on Ce_(0.9)Ti_(0.1)O_(2)(M/C9 T1)and the properties of the catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),Raman,Brunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET)method,and H_(2)-temperature programmed reduction(H_(2)-TPR)results.Results show that the introduction of Ti into CeO_(2)forming Ti-O-Ce structure enhances the catalytic activity and increases the number of oxygen vacancies at the catalyst surface.The noble metal is highly dispersed over Ce_(0.9)Ti_(0.1)O_(2),and M/C9 T1 catalysts present enhanced activity in comparison to Ce_(0.9)Ti_(0.1)O_(2).It is found that noble metals can greatly increase the activity of the catalyst and the corresponding oxidation rate of soot can enhance the electron transfer capacity and oxygen adsorption capacity of the catalyst.A small amount of Ti doping in CeO_(2)can significantly improve the activity of the catalyst,while a large amount of Ti reduces the performance of the catalyst because a large amount of Ti is enriched on the surface of the catalyst,which hinders the contact and reaction between the catalyst and the soot.

Reprogramming of metabolism is a hallmark of tumors,which has been explored for therapeutic purposes.Prostate cancer(PCa),particularly advanced and therapy-resistant PCa,displays unique metabolic properties.Targeting metabolic vulnerabilities in PCa may benefit patients who have exhausted currently available treatment options and improve clinical outcomes.Among the many nutrients,glutamine has been shown to play a central role in the metabolic reprogramming of advanced PCa.In addition to amino acid metabolism,glutamine is also widely involved in the synthesis of other macromolecules and biomasses.Targeting glutamine metabolic network by maximally inhibiting glutamine utilization in tumor cells may significantly add to treatment options for many patients.This review summarizes the metabolic landscape of PCa,with a particular focus on recent studies of how glutamine metabolism alterations affect therapeutic resistance and disease progression of PCa,and suggests novel therapeutic strategies.

Analysis of the dynamic response of a complex nonlinear system is always a difficult problem.By using Volterra functional series to describe a nonlinear system,its response analysis can be similar to using Fourier/Laplace transform and linear transfer function method to analyse a linear system’s response.In this paper,a dynamic response analysis method for nonlinear systems based on Volterra series is developed.Firstly,the recursive formula of the least square method is established to solve the Volterra kernel function vector,and the corresponding MATLAB programme is compiled.Then,the Volterra kernel vector corresponding to the nonlinear response of a structure under seismic excitation is identified,and the accuracy and applicability of using the kernel vector to predict the response of a nonlinear structure are analysed.The results show that the Volterra kernel function identified by the derived recursive formula can accurately describe the nonlinear response characteristics of a structure under an excitation.For a general nonlinear system,the first three order Volterra kernel function can relatively accurately express its nonlinear response characteristics.In addition,the obtained Volterra kernel function can be used to accurately predict the nonlinear response of a structure under the similar type of dynamic load.

The task of multimodal sentiment classification aims to associate multimodal information, such as images and texts with appropriate sentiment polarities. There are various levels that can affect human sentiment in visual and textual modalities. However, most existing methods treat various levels of features independently without having effective method for feature fusion. In this paper, we propose a multi-level fusion classification(MFC) model to predict the sentiment polarity based on the fusing features from different levels by exploiting the dependency among them. The proposed architecture leverages convolutional neural networks(CNNs) with multiple layers to extract levels of features in image and text modalities. Considering the dependencies within the low-level and high-level features, a bi-directional(Bi) recurrent neural network(RNN) is adopted to integrate the learned features from different layers in CNNs. In addition, a conflict detection module is incorporated to address the conflict between modalities. Experiments on the Flickr dataset demonstrate that the MFC method achieves comparable performance compared with strong baseline methods.

In this paper,a new concept of forward-pumped random Raman fiber laser(RRFL)-based liquid refractive index sensing is proposed for the first time.For liquid refractive index sensing,the flat fiber end immersed in the liquid can act as the point reflector for generating random fiber lasing and also as the sensing head.Due to the high sensitivity of the output power of the RRFL to the reflectivity provided by the point reflector in the ultralow reflectivity regime,the proposed RRFL is capable of achieving liquid refractive index sensing by measuring the random lasing output power.We theoretically investigate the effects of the operating pump power and fiber length on the refractive index sensitivity for the proposed RRFL.As a proof-of-concept demonstration,we experimentally realize high-sensitivity half-open short-cavity RRFL-based liquid refractive index sensing with the maximum sensitivity and the sensing resolution of-39.88W/RIU and 2.5075×10^(-5) RIU,respectively.We also experimentally verify that the refractive index sensitivity can be enhanced with the shorter fiber length of the RRFL.This work extends the application of the random fiber laser as a new platform for highly-sensitive refractive index sensing in chemical,biomedical,and environmental monitoring applications,etc.

Mode-based Damping Torque Analysis in Power System Low-frequency Oscillations

The mode-based damping torque analysis(M-DTA)method for studying the effect of an external controller on power system low-frequency oscillations is proposed in this paper.First,based on the interconnection model between the system and the controller in the frequency domain,the oscillation loop corresponding to the electromechanical oscillation mode is built,and then the mode-based damping torque of the controller can be calculated.Then,the application of the M-DTA method in the power system is illustrated.The derivation shows that in the single-machine infinite-bus power system,the M-DTA method is completely equivalent to the classical damping torque analysis(C-DTA)method.In the multi-machine power system,the mode-based damping torque directily reflects the effect of the controller on the oscillation mode,overcoming the shortcomings of the C-DTA method in which there is no direct correspondence between the damping torque and the oscillation mode.By deriving the relationship with the residue index,the M-DTA method shows higher accuracy than the residue method in applications,such as controller parameter adjustment.Finally,two example power systems are presented to demonstrate the application of the proposed M-DTA method.Index Terms-Electromechanical oscillation mode,FACTS,interconnection model in the frequency domain,mode-based damping torque analysis(M-DTA),power system low-frequency oscillation,PSS,residue method.
