Celiac disease(CD) is a type of intestinal malabsorption syndrome,in which the patients are intolerant to the gliadin in dietary gluten,resulting in chronic diarrhea and secondary malnutrition. The disease is common in Europe and the United States,but only sporadic reports are found in East Asia including China. Is CD really rare in China? We examined 62 patients by capsule endoscopy for chronic diarrhea from June 2003 to March 2008. Four patients with chronic diarrhea and weight loss were diagnosed to have CD. Under the capsule endoscopy,we observed that the villi of the proximal small bowel became short,and that the mucous membrane became atrophied in these four patients. Duodenal biopsies were performed during gastroscopy and the pathological changes of mucosa were confirmed to be Marsh 3 stage of CD. A gluten free diet significantly improved the conditions of the four patients. We suspect that in China,especially in the northern area where wheat is the main food,CD might not be uncommon,and its under-diagnosis could be caused by its clinical manifestations that could be easily covered by the symptoms from other clinical situations,particularly when it came to subclinical patients without obvious symptom or to patients with ex-traintestinal symptoms as the initial manifestations.

With the technology of morphology, histology and nutrition, the characteristics of organ development and the source and demand of nutritional at different stages in post-embryonic （water temperature 3-14℃） of Hucho taimen were discussed. The results showed that the membrane of H. taimen fertilized ovum was ruptured in 30 d, the prototype of U-type stomach was formed, the mouth could open and close freely, and nutrition was supplied from its yolk sac. The membrane ruptured after 8 d, teeth formed, and anus communicated with outsiders. The oropharyngeal cavity, esophagus, U-type stomach, intestine, and anus initially formed in the digestive tube, which nutrition was supplied from the huge yolk sac. The membrane ruptured after 16 d, pancreas and pyloric caeca appeared, larvae could intake and digest exogenous food, fish mixed nutrition, which was from yolk sac and outsiders, mainly depended on endogenous. The membrane ruptured after 24 d, the fish began floating and intaking actively, the fish mixed nutrition which mainly depended on exogenous. The membrane ruptured after 30 d, the yolk sac was completely absorbed, the function and structure of each digestive organs developed consummately, fish was from mixed nutrition into the stage of exogenous nutrition, the nutritional need of juveniles was below 10% fat, level of the optimal protein was 50%.

High-efficiency production organization should be simple and "laminar". A one to one "laminar flow" operation mechanism is supposed to be accepted as a prerequisite to build high-efficiency clean steel "production platform". Concerning the fact that establishing a one to one "laminar flow" production pattern is impossible at Tangshan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., "quasi-laminar flow" production pattern was evaluated. Result shows that rolling bar products of various specifications have great impact on the liquid steel supply model between BOF and CC. Considering the process matching issue of steelmaking-continuous casting-rolling process in bar production line, a "quasi-laminar flow" production pattern between BOF and CC was proposed according to different rolling specification in bar mills. Through analysis and research on current production pattern, combined with principles and strategy for BOF workshop control, and taking the plant layout into account, "quasi-laminar flow" production pattern was finally established. Moreover, Gantt chart of "quasi-laminar flow" production pattern was drawn. It is shown that the relative "order degree" of the "quasi-laminar flow" production pattern rises, which is conductive to production scheduling and ladle operation turnaround in comparison with "turbulence" production pattern. While a careful evaluation should be conducted due to the fluctuant temperature drop caused by the inevitable inserted heats and decreased operation rate of inserted BOF before adapting the production pattern.

The hit ratio of the yield strength of HRB400 D reinforced bar(Tangshan Iron and Steel Co.) is low. In this study, the effects of [C], [Mn], [Si], and [V] on the yield strength and mechanism were investigated. The HRB400 D reinforced bar with a specification of 22 spiral was chosen. A narrow composition control was achieved by reducing the lower limit of the Mn content and the amount of the alloying elements; moreover, the hit ratio of the reinforced bar yield strength increased from 65.54% to 96.27%, enhancing product stability. The cost of the steel alloy reduced by 8.86 RMB/ton, improving the market competitiveness of the product.

In order to investigate the enzymatic properties of the 4CL1 of Populus tomentosa, the recombinant expression vector pQE31-4CL 1 was constructed. The recombinant was identified by three restriction endonucleases, then the vector pQE31-4CL 1 was transformed into expression host M15 （pREP4） and induced by isopropyl-a-D-thiogalactoside （IPTG） to express 60 kD fused protein Pt4CL1. The biologically active Pt4CL1, expressed as soluble protein, was achieved with 0.6 mmol＇L-1 IPTG induction as the expression temperature declined from 37 to 28℃. The 6-His tag facilitates affinity binding to Ni^2＋-nitrolotriacetic acid （NTA） and enables one-step purification to acquire the molecular SDS-PAGE electrophoresis purity of the active 4CL1 protein by agarose coupled with Ni^2＋-NTA affinity chromatography. The optimal substrate for Pt4CL 1 was 4-coumarate.

Atherosclerosis(AS) is a chronic inflammatory disease associated with high morbidity and mortality. The incidence of AS is increasing in the last decades. So development of safe and effective therapeutics for treating AS has become prominently important. Although there are numerous chemical drugs available for treating AS, some drugs are not effective and some have serious side effects. Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) has a long history for the prevention and treatment of AS due to its less side effects and superior efficacy. This paper describes the effectiveness and underlying mechanisms for prevention and treatment of AS by TCM or its active components. Some TCM, e.g. XuemaiNing, Tongxinluo and Salvia miltiorrhiza have been reported to have cardio-protective effect. Some active components of TCM, e.g. saikosaponin-A, kuwanon G, luteolin and β-elemene have been isolated from various TCM and demonstrated to have beneficial effects on prevention and treatment of AS.

Temperature Holding Hood for Hot Charging of Continuous Casting Slab in Tangshan Iron and Steel Company

To improve the charging of high-temperature billets, it is crucial to produce them with zero defects and achieve effective insulation during their hot delivery. A mathematical model was developed based on the heat transfer characteristics of the billet during its hot delivery. The accuracy of the model was established by studying the thermal performance of the cover of the roller conveyer for small billets in Tangshan Iron and Steel Company. The results show that the cover of the roller conveyer of the continuous casting billet can effectively reduce the heat loss during the hot delivery of the billets, and the hot loading temperature was increased by 51.6 °C. The uniformity of the temperature of the casting billet section increased substantially. The temperature difference in the casting billet section was reduced by 120 °C. The heat preservation effects of temperature holding hoods of different materials were compared. It was found that the material of the temperature holding hood has slight effect on the heat preservation.

Antagonistic Activities of Volatiles from Four Strains of Bacillus spp. and Paenibacillus spp. Against Soil-Borne Plant Pathogens

The four effective antagonistic Bacillus strains, isolated from the rhizosphere soil of cucumber in a greenhouse, produced antifungal volatiles. These volatiles strongly inhibited the growth of the most tested pathogenic fungi with wide host plants, induced the mycelial morphological abnormalities, and decreased the sclerotoid production of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum in sealed plates. Spores of Botrytis cinerea exposed to these volatiles for 24-48 h in cavity slides cracked and the sporaceous inclusion became brown and effused to the suspension. An interesting phenomenon observed was that all the bacterial volatiles exhibited intense inhibitory activities against the pigment formation of tested pathogenic fungi, including Ascochyta citrullina, Alternaria solani, Alternaria brassicae, and so on. Interactions mediated by microbial volatiles could be widespread in soils, and volatiles may play an important role in reducing disease levels. A phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rDNA sequence placed the four bacteria in three species Paenibacillus polymyxa （BMP-11）, Bacillus subtilis （BL02）, and Bacillus pumilus （BSH-4 and ZB 13）. Through headspace sampling and GC-MS analysis, a rich profile was found from B. subtilis and overlapping volatile patterns could be found among the different species. Studies are under the way to find the possible action mechanisms and to seek the effective application of bacterial volatiles in greenhouse.

A series of copolymers of thiazoloisoindigo (Tzll) with different chalcogenophene trimers were synthesized to systematicllyinvestigate the chalcogen effect on their charge transport *** only the middlethiophene ring of terthiphene(T-T-T)is replaced byheavier chalcogenophenes,a preference(expressed by the ratio of μe/μh)towards electron transport was observed descending from T-T-Tto T-Se-Tthen to T-Te-T(Se and Te stand for selenophene and tellurophene,respectively).On the other hand,with the increased number of heavierchalcogenophenes,a preference toward hole transport was observed descending from Se-T-Se to Se-Se-se then to *** phenomenon iswellexplained by the balance between the aromatic resonance energy of the chalcogenophenes and the electronegativity of the ***,P(TZll-T-Se-T)displayed relatively balanced ambipolar property(μh^(max)andμe^(max) of 3.77 and 1.59 cm^(2)·v^(-1)·s^(-1)with aμe/μh of 0.42).while P(Tll-Se-Te-Se)exhibited the best preference to hole transfer with a u.u,of 0.09.P(Tzll-T-Te-T)exhibited the best preference to electrontransfer with aμe/μl,of 16 and theμe^(max)of 0.64 cm^(2)·v^(-).s^(-1)which is the highest electron mobility among the known conjugated polymerscontaining tellurophenes.
