AIM: To detect the expression of mitochondrial uncoupling protein 2 (UCP2) in colon cancer and analyze the relation between UCP2 expression and clinical pathological features of colon ***: Fifteen colon tissue samples and 15 its adjacent tissue samples were obtained from colon cancer patients during surgical interventions. UCP2 expression was detected with immunohistochemical method in 10 normal controls, 10 hyperplastic polyp patients, 20 tubular adenoma patients and 78 colon cancer patients. Patients with rectal cancer were excluded. Quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and Western blotting were used to detect UCP2 expressions in colon cancer tissue samples and its adjacent tissue samples. Relation between UCP2 expression and clinical pathological features of colon cancer was also analyzed. RESULTS: The UCP2 mRNA expression level was fourfold higher in colon cancer tissue samples than in its adjacent tissue samples. The UCP2 protein expression level was three-fold higher in colon cancer tissue samples than in its adjacent normal tissue samples. The UCP2 was mainly expressed in cytoplasm. The UCP2 was not expressed in normal colon mucosa. Strong positive staining for UCP2 with a diffuse distribution pattern was identified throughout the mucosa in colon cancer tissue samples with a positive expression rate of 85.9%. The UCP2 expression level was higher in colon cancer tissue samples at clinical stages Ⅲ and Ⅳ than in those at stageⅠ+ Ⅱ. Univariate analysis showed that the high UCP2 expression level was significantly correlated to colon cancer metastasis (hazard ratio = 4.321, confidence interval = 0.035-0.682, P = 0.046). CONCLUSION: UCP2 is highly expressed in human colon cancer tissue and may be involved in colon cancer metastasis.

Aim: To put forward criteria for the pressure assessment in the operation of intercavernous embedding of bulboper-ineal urethra for the treatment of urinary incontinence after prostatic operation. Methods: A F14 urethral catheter isinserted during the operation and upon suturing the corpora cavernosa centrally, the catheter is slowly pushed in andpulled out in order that the operator feels a certain degree of close-fit resistance. The degree of tightness of the stitches,which regulate the compression pressure, is adjusted in accordance with this close-fit sensation. To further ascertain theadequacy of the force of compression, the bladder is filled with 300 ml physiological saline and observe the appropriate-ness (size and continuity) of the outflow stream when the lower abdomen is depressed with a pressure of 80 - 90 cmH_2O. The operation was given to six patients suffered from urinary incontinence for 20 or more months after prostaticoperation. Results: Five cases achieved complete recovery, while the therapeutic effect of the 6th one was not sat-isfactory . A second stage operation was carried out 3 months later with the addition of one more stitch both proximallyand distally to reinforce the compression force. The condition was improved dramatically. The follow-up period aver-aged 3.5 years. Conclusion; The adequacy of the compression pressure exerted by the juxtaposed corpora cavernosais the key point determining the outcome of the operation. The measures for assessing the compression pressure suggest-ed by the authors are helpful in obtaining the good results of the present paper (6/6 success) as compared with 25/34success in the previous report. Along with the development of 5G network and Internet of Things technologies,there has been an explosion in personalized healthcare *** the 5G and Artificial Intelligence(Al)is introduced into diabetes management architecture,it can increase the efficiency of existing systems and complications of diabetes can be handled more effectively by taking advantage of *** this article,we propose a 5G-based Artificial Intelligence Diabetes Management architecture(AIDM),which can help physicians and patients to manage both acute complications and chronic *** AIDM contains five layers:the sensing layer,the transmission layer,the storage layer,the computing layer,and the application *** build a test bed for the transmission and application ***,we apply a delay-aware RA optimization based on a double-queue model to improve access efficiency in smart hospital wards in the transmission *** application layer,we build a prediction model using a deep forest *** on real-world data show that our AIDM can enhance the efficiency of diabetes management and improve the screening rate of diabetes as well.

Objectives: To evaluate the specific manifestations of pancreatic carcinoma on spiral multi-phase CT and its resectability before operation. Methods: Ninety-seven patients were confirmed oper- atively and pathologically. Enhanced CT scan was performed with intravenous injection bolus of ap- proximately 75-120 ml (1-1.5 ml/kg body weight) contrast medium at a rate of 2.5-3 ml/s. In 68 pa- tients receiving dual-phase scan, the delayed scan time of arterial and venous phases was 18-20 s and 60-70 s, respectively, and in 29 patients receiving three-phase scan, the delayed scan time of arterial, pancreatic and portal venous phases was 18 s, 40 s and 75 s, respectively, with a slice of 3-5 mm thick- ness, a pitch of 1-1.5, and a reconstruction interval of 2.5-4.8 mm. Results: Positive and negative predictive values of un- resectable tumors were 97.65% and 75.86%, respec- tively. The sensitivity and accuracy were 90.67% and 90. 72%, respectively. Positive predictive values of dual-phase and three-phase were 95.83% and 100%, respectively; negative predictive values were 75% and 77.78%, respectively. Conclusions: Spiral multi-phase CT is superior in re- vealing the involvement of peripancreatic vessels, the invasion of the neighboring organs, the size, shape and range of carcinoma, and the metastasis of liver and lymph node. The predictability of resection is obviously increased for patients with pancreatic car- cinoma.
