Monitoring the fibrolytic potential of microbial ecosystems from domestic and wild ruminants browsing tanniferous forages

Although the rumen microbiome has been reported to synthesize a rich source of symbiotic enzymes(exocellulase, endocellulase, hemicellulase and cellobiase), the digestion of tropical C_4 grasses and browses by ruminants is still limited. Therefore, this study aimed to unveil potential fibrolytic microbial ecosystems from giraffe, kudu, impala and consortia(A1 [giraffe + kudu], A2 [giraffe + impala], A3[kudu + impala], and A4 [giraffe + kudu + impala]) browsing tanniferous plants, which can be used to improve forage utilization in domesticated goat. Crude protein enzyme extracts(CPZ) from fresh faecal samples were precipitated by 60% ammonium sulphate and assayed for exocellulase, endocellulase and hemicellulase by incubating with crystalline cellulose, carboxymethyl cellulose and xylan at 38 ℃ with optimum pH of 5.5 to 6.5 for 1, 2, and 48 h, respectively. Enzyme specific activities were defined as μg of reducing sugar/mg CPZ. In vitro fermentation study was done by transferring 33 mL of fresh faecal inoculum into 67 mL of salivary buffer containing 1 g Acacia sieberiana and incubating for 72 h at 38 ℃,Apparent degradability(APDeg), true degradability(TD), neutral detergent fibre degradability(NDFdeg),acid detergent fibre degradability(ADFdeg), microbial yield(MY), metabolizable energy(ME) and total gas emitted(Gas) were measured. Exocellulase activities were higher(P < 0.05) in all wild animals and consortia than those in goat except for A4. Minimal differences in hemicellulase activities(P < 0.05) were observed among goat and wild animals and consortia, while endocellulase activity was generally higher(P < 0.05) in goat than that in the rest of the systems. Apart from A3, TDeg, NDFdeg and ADFdeg were higher(P < 0.05) in all microbial ecosystems from wild animals and consortia than those in *** degradability, MY and ME also varied(P < 0.05) among these systems. Etiology of granulomatous inflammation:A retrospective study of 174 children in a tertiary care center

Objective:To investigate granulomatous inflammation etiology based on clinical history and ancillary ***:Children aged<18 years with biopsy proven granulomatous lesions in any tissue specimens between January 2014 and January 2022 were included in the *** diagnosis was based on the results of immunohistochemical staining,molecular tests,culture,serology,radiological and other auxiliary laboratory *** were categorized into infectious and noninfectious ***:In total,174 patients with granulomatosis inflammation confirmed by histopathology were *** 59.2%patients were males,and the median age was 4.48(IQR 2.36-6.39)years(range:16 months-18 years).The tissues/organs that were most commonly biopsied were lymph node,bone,skin,and lung(51.1%,17.8%,9.2%,and 5.7%,respectively).Infectious and non-infectious causes were identified in 73.0%and 12.6%patients,respectively,in terms of granulomatosis inflammation etiology;however,no cause was identified in 14.4%*** most common infectious cause was tuberculosis(in 51.7%patients),followed by toxoplasmosis,aspergillosis,mucormycosis,leishmaniasis,and cat-scratch disease(in 8.6%,5.7%,1.7%,1.7%,and 1.1%patients,respectively).The common non-infectious cause was chronic granulomatous *** evaluation revealed granulomatosis inflammation in 33.3%patients,necrotizing granulomatosis inflammation in 30.5%patients,and caseating granulomatosis inflammation in 12.1%*** the pathology results of patients with and without tuberculosis were compared,the incidence of caseating granulomatosis inflammation(P=0.003)and necrotizing granulomatosis inflammation(P=0.005)was higher in patients with ***:Chronic granulomatous disease is the most common non-infectious cause in ***,primary or secondary immune deficiencies may cause granulomatosis inflammation,especially in pediatric patients.

We present new quantitative model describing the pressure dependence of acoustic P-and S-wave *** that a variety of individual mechanisms or defects(such as cracks,pore collapse and grain crushing)can contribute to the pressure-dependent change of the wave velocity,we order a characteristic pressure to all of them and allow a series of exponential terms in the description of the(Pand S-waves)velocity-pressure *** estimate the parameters of the multi-exponential rock physical model in inversion procedures using laboratory measured P-and S-wave velocity *** is known,the conventional damped least squares method gives acceptable results only when one or two individual mechanisms are *** the number of exponential terms leads to highly nonlinear ill-posed inverse *** to this reason,we develop the spectral inversion method(SIM)in which the velocity amplitudes(the spectral lines in the characteristic pressure spectrum)are only considered as *** characteristic pressures(belonging to the velocity amplitudes)are excluded from the set of inversion unknowns,instead,they are defined in a set of fixed positions equidistantly distributed in the actual interval of the independent variable(pressure).Through this novel linear inversion method,we estimate the parameters of the multi-exponential rock physical model using laboratory measured P-and S-wave velocity *** characteristic pressures are related to the closing pressures of cracks which are described by well-known rock mechanical relationships depending on the aspect ratio of elliptical *** gives the possibility to estimate the aspect ratios in terms of the characteristic pressures.

Background:Tuberculosis(TB)remains a global health challenge and depression is a significant contributor to the global burden of *** evidence suggests that there is an association between depressive symptoms and TB,lower adherence to treatment,and increased morbidity and ***,there is paucity of data regarding these associations in *** study aimed to determine the prevalence and correlates of depression in adult patients with pulmonary TB(PTB)in the Southwest Region of ***:A hospital-based cross-sectional study involving 265 patients with PTB was conducted from 2nd January to 31st March 2015 in the Limbe Regional Hospital and the Kumba District *** was diagnosed using the standard nine-item Patient Health Questionnaire,and classified as none,mild or *** regressions were used to investigate correlates of depression in these ***:Of the 265 patients(mean age 36.9±10 years)studied,136(51.3%)were *** prevalence of depression was 61.1%(95%CI:55.1–66.8),with a significant proportion(36.6%)having mild *** logistic regression analysis showed that being female(aOR=3.0,95%CI(1.7–5.5),P0.05),being on retreatment for TB(aOR=11.2,95%CI:5.2–31.1,P<0.001),having discontinued treatment(aOR=8.2,95%CI:1.1–23.3,P<0.05)and having a HIV/TB co-infection(aOR=2.5,95%CI:1.2–6.5,P<0.001)were factors associated with having a higher chance of being ***:Our study suggests that there is a high prevalence of depression among PTB patients,with more than one in two patients *** care for TB patients involving mental health practitioners is highly encouraged,especially for high-risk groups.
