objective:Antiplasmodial and analgesic activities of the leaf extract and fractions of Clausena anisata(***) were evaluated for antimalarial and analgesic ***:The crude leaf extract(39-117mg/kg) and fractions(chloroform and acqeous;78mg/kg) of C. anisata were investigated for antiplasmodial activity against chloroquine-sensitive Plasmodium berghei(***) infections in mice using suppressive,prophylactic and curative models and analgesic activity against acetic acid,formalin and heat-induced ***,5 mg/kg and pyrimethamine,1.2mg/kg were used as positive *** films made from tail blood of each mouse were used to assess the level of parasitaemia of the ***:The extract and its fractions dose-dependently reduced parasitaemia induced by chloroquine-sensitive *** in prophylactic,suppressive and curative models in *** reductions were statistically significant(Po improved the mean survival time(MST) from 17 to 21 days relative to control(Pon chemically and thermally-induced pains,the extract inhibited acetic acid and formalin-induced inflammation as well as hot plate-induced pain in *** inhibitions were statistically significant(Pose-dependent fashion. Conclusions:The antiplasmodial and analgesic effects of this plant may in part be mediated through its chemical constituents and it can be concluded that the *** possess significant antimalarial and analgesic properties.

This article presents and discusses Joao Guimaraes Rosa as an outstanding Brazilian author whose literary work,especially Sagarana,expresses aesthetically different ways of lifeforms between human beings,animals,plants,and *** and transformations are the basic principles in which the melody of prose expresses itself as a language in and as *** based in Brazilian culture,Rosa shows the conviviality of different logics which are not reduced to one myth of the Brazilian people,but produce multiple ways of coexistence between different life-forms and culture *** translingual title ttSagarana,'already alludes to the transitions between two languages,regions,and cultures:the Icelandic“saga-”and the Tupic-Word“rana”which means“similar”or“alike.”The interpretation figures out the correlation of different provenances(“Herkiinfte”)which emerge from Rosa’s craft of *** its center,the Sertao arises as a region of nature whose forces are connected with the life of human *** fractal of the world,it symbolizes Brazilian relations as a world of its own and at the same time as a part of the world of *** this point of view the essay turns world literature upside down:it emphasizes on the one hand that the epoch of world literature since Goethe has come to an end and that the meridian has shifted to Latin *** the other hand it can be observed that the lusophonic world between Brazil and Angola,Portugal and Kap Verde develops new perspectives on literatures of the world beyond the fixed coordinations of periphery and ***'s ways of world making already shift the perspective from the local to the global as a miniatured model of a universe which reveals interpretations of a better understanding of the world as world fractals.

The Lower Eocene Celtek Formation is located in the Sorgun district of thecity of Yozgat in *** the study area,Paleozoic,Campanian-Maastrichtian,Eocene,Miocene and Quaternary units are *** Celtek Formation is noteworthy with its coal and oil shale *** were collected from one exposure(YCoSK)and two boreholes(SJ and C boreholes)at the facility operated by the Yeni Celtek Coal *** of REE in oil shales from these localities were determined using the ICP-MS *** and total organic carbon(ToC)values of a total of 32 samples were compared with normalized REE contents of various *** contents of the samples ranged from 1.37wt%to 11.8wt%(mean 4.96wt%).The averages of all samples for the all normalized values show similar *** REE patterns are represented by the enrichment in the order of LREE>MREE>HREE and display negative Ce and positive Eu anomalies.ΣREE *** were compared.ΣREE *** showed a weak positive correlation,whereasΣLREE vs.(M+HREE)andΣLREE vs.ΣREE were positively *** tectonic provenance characteristics,the Celtek Formation oil shales were formed in microenvironments with physicochemical conditions changing in character from oxic to euxinic,representing a transitional terrestrial–marine environment.

In this study,the commercially available chicken thigh and breast meat produced by organic and conventional methods were investigated in terms of physicochemical,microbiological and sensorial *** organic chicken breasts had higher fat content than the conventional chicken *** protein content of organic thighs was higher than conventional *** chicken meat contains more mineral substances than conventional chicken meat and has higher pH value,cooking loss and water holding ***-linoleic acid,docosahexaenoic acid was found to be higher in organic chicken *** *** detected in all conventional chicken and 66.66%of organic chicken.

Resilience Quantification and Its Application to a Residential Building Subject to Hurricane Winds

In order to overcome negative consequences of a disaster, buildings and infrastructures need to be resilient. After a disaster occurs, they must get back to their normal operations as quickly as possible. Buildings and infrastructures should incorporate both pre-event(preparedness and mitigation) and post-event(response and recovery) resilience activities to minimize negative effects of a disaster. Quantitative approaches for measuring resilience for buildings and infrastructures need to be developed. A proposed methodology for quantification of resilience of a given building type based on different hurricane categories is presented. The formulation for the resilience quantification is based on a model embedding several distinct parameters(for example, structural loss ratios, conditional probabilities of exceeding for damage states, estimated and actual recovery times, wind speed probability). The proposed resilience formulation is applied to a residential building type selected from *** results of resilience for the selected residential building type against Category 1, 2, and 3 hurricanes are presented in a dashboard representation. Resilience performance indicators between different types of buildings, which are identical except for their roof types, have been evaluated in order to present applicability of the proposed methodology.

The utility poles of an electric power distribution system are frequently damaged by wind-related *** study notes that the wooden poles are particularly vulnerable to such disasters and the failures of the poles can cause a network-level failure leading to short-or longterm power outages. To mitigate the problem, this study proposes a framework for measuring the resilience of the wooden utility poles based on the angular deflection of a pole due to the wind force. Given the existing inclination angle of a pole, the angular deflection is measured by finite element analysis using ANSYS~? Workbench^1 to determine the resilience area under various wind speeds. For this, the conditions of load and support for a pole, which are called boundary conditions in ANSYS~?, are generated. The proposed framework also includes an approach to cost–benefit analysis that compares different strategies for corrective action. The results of the case study in which the framework was applied show that the proposed framework can be effectively utilized by electric power distribution companies to increase the resilience of their systems.

In this study uranium and thorium contents and depositional characteristics of ay rhan bituminous shales（ BS）, west of Ankara（central Anatolia）, are investigated. Samples used were collected from boreholes opened by Park Holding Ltd. A total of 25 samples were taken from bituminous shale levels in boreholes drilled at 6 different locations in the study area. The H rka formation which hosts bituminous shale deposits is a volcanosedimentary sequence and all lithofacies indicate that a lacustrine environment where the water level was continuously changed. In addition to hydrocarbon generation potential, bituminous shales also accumulate significant amount of radioactive elements such as uranium and thorium. The average uranium and thorium concentrations of BS（1.83/2.62 ppm） are much lower than averages of UC, NASK and PAAS（uranium： 2.70/2.66/3.10 ppm; thorium： 8.50/12.30/14.60 ppm）. Low uranium contents in comparison to those of similar lacustrine environments might be attributed to that waters of depositional environment of BS contain low concentration of dissolved uranium and redox conditions were of oxic and dioxic character. Correlation data indicate that U and Th have a similar source and are associated predominantly with clays and phosphates and dominantly with organic material. Radioactive elements in the basin might be derived from Paleozoic granites and metamorphites（e.g. gneiss, schist） which comprise the basement and volcanism which was active in the region throughout the Miocene period. These elements are probably associated with uraniferous phosphate minerals（e.g. autunite, torbernite） which occur in granite, gneiss and schist. BS with average ToC content of 10.96 % shows very good/perfect source rock potential. Positive correlations between Gamma-Ray values and U, Th and K concentrations imply that radioactivity might be originated from these three elements.
