Numerous soft-sediment deformation structures(SSDS) within thin-bedded, heterolithic.l.custrine shoreline deposits of the Upper Triassic Tumble Falls Member, lockatong Formation of eastern Pennsylvania, demonstrate liquefaction, fluidization and shearing features processes affecting sediment. This study employs thin-section analysis of SSDS to interpret them as probable seismites from the Triassic-Jurassic Newark Basin. Sedimentary structures include right-lateral offset of desiccation cracks and ichnofossils, thrust,reverse, and normal faults with mm-sc.l. offsets, horsts and grabens, lateral spreads, and single and complex multiple networks of dikes and sills and associated sedimentary volcanoes, thin mudflows on a paleosurface linked to sediment dikes, load and flame structures, ball and pillow structures, recumbent folds, and incipient breccias. Dike fill consists of mudstone, angular sedimentary clasts, sandstone margins with mudstone cores,and plastic.l.y deformed sediment fill. The SSDS indicate that late Triassic.l.custrine shoreline sediments were subjected to forces, probably compressive with a minimal shear component reflected in the offset of the dikes and ichnofossils, that induced liquefaction followed by fluidization and vertic.l.movement of *** forces that altered sediment vertic.l.stability, leading to deformation of the sediment included gravitationally unstable density gradients, vertic.l.shear stress, and gravitational body forces. SSDS can be induced by seismic and aseismic processes. However, this unique combination of forces and resulting sedimentary structures indicate an origin by earthquake activity, likely produced by the nearby, active Newark Basin border fault system. The lockatong Formation SSDS seismites improve our understanding via thin section analysis of the rheology and preservation potential of SSDS in lacustrine shoreline deposits, critic.l.for the geologic history of Newark Basin, as well as the refinement for paleos

Simulating the mechanic.l.behavior of a cloth is a very challenging and important problem in computer animation. The models of bending in most existing cloth simulation approaches are taking the assumption that the cloth is little deformed from a plate shape. Therefore, based on the thin-plate theory, these bending models do not consider the condition that the current shape of the cloth under large deformations cannot be regarded as the approximation to that before deformation, which leads to an unreal static bending. [This paper introduces a dynamic bending model which is appropriate to describe large out-plane deformations such as cloth buc.l.ng and bending, and develops a compact implementation of the new model on spring-mass systems. Experimental results show that wrinkles and folds generated using this technique in cloth simulation, can appear and vanish in a more natural way than other approaches.]

The article addresses the output-feedback control issue for a class of multi-input multi-output(MIMO) uncertain nonlinear systems with multiple event-triggered mechanisms(ETM). compared to previous event-triggering studies, this paper aims to trigger both the output and filtered signals. Unknown nonlinear dynamics are approximated using fuzzy logic systems(FlSs). Then, a novel kind of state observer has been designed to deal with unmeasurable state problems using the triggered output signal. The sampled estimated state, the triggered output signal, and the filtered signal are utilized to propose an event-triggering mechanism that consists of sensor-to-observer(SO) and observer-to-controller(Oc). An event-triggered output feedback control approach is given inside backstepping control, whereby the filter may be employed to circumvent the issue of the virtual control function not being differentiable at the trigger time. It is testified that, according to the lyapunov stability analysis scheme, all closed-loop signals and the system output are ultimately uniformly constrained by our control method. Finally, the simulation examples are performed to confirm the theoretic.l.findings.

The damage effects of water sorption on the mechanic.l.properties of the hydroxyapatite particle reinforced Bis-GMA/TEGDMA copolymer （HA/Bis-GMA/TEGDMA） h-ave been predicted using 3D finite c.l. models. The plasticizer effect on the polymer matrix was considered as a variation of its Young＇s modulus. Three different c.l. models were used to determine the influence of varying particle contents, interphase strength and moisture concentration on the debonding damage. The stress distribution pattern has been examined and the stress transfer mode clarified. The Young＇s modulus and fracture strength of the Bis-GMA/TEGDMA composite were also predicted using the model with and without consideration of the damage. ine Iormer results with consideration of the debonding damage are in good agreement with existing literature experimental data. The shielding effect of our proposed model and an alternative approach were discussed. The Fcc c.l. model has also been extended to predict the critic.l.load for the damaged and the undamaged composite subject to the 3-point flexural test.

Peripheral nerve injuries induce a severe motor and sensory deficit. Since the availability of autologous nerve transplants for nerve repair is very limited, alternative treatment strategies are sought, including the use of tubular nerve guidance conduits(tNGcs). However, the use of tNGcs results in poor functional recovery and central necrosis of the regenerating tissue, which limits their application to short nerve lesion defects(typic.l.y shorter than 3 cm). Given the importance of vasc.l.rization in nerve regeneration, we hypothesized that enabling the growth of blood vessels from the surrounding tissue into the regenerating nerve within the tNGc would help eliminate necrotic processes and lead to improved regeneration. In this study, we reported the application of macroscopic holes into the tubular walls of silk-based tNGcs and compared the various features of these improved silk^(+) tNGcs with the tubes without holes(silk^(–) tNGcs) and autologous nerve transplants in an 8-mm sciatic nerve defect in rats. Using a combination of micro-computed tomography and histologic.l.analyses, we were able to prove that the use of silk^(+) tNGcs induced the growth of blood vessels from the adjacent tissue to the intraluminal neovasc.l.r formation. A significantly higher number of blood vessels in the silk^(+) group was found compared with autologous nerve transplants and silk^(–), accompanied by improved axon regeneration at the distal coaptation point compared with the silk^(–) tNGcs at 7 weeks postoperatively. In the 15-mm(critic.l.size) sciatic nerve defect model, we again observed a distinct ingrowth of blood vessels through the tubular walls of silk^(+) tNGcs, but without improved functional recovery at 12 weeks postoperatively. Our data proves that macroporous tNGcs increase the vasc.l.r supply of regenerating nerves and fac.l.tate improved axonal regeneration in a short-defect model but not in a critic.l.size defect model. Numeric.l.simulation based on phase field method is performed to describe solidification process of pure material in a free or forced flow. The evolution of the interface is showed, and the effects of mesh grid and flow velocity on succinonitrite shape are studied. These results indicate that crystal grows into an equiaxial dendrite in a free flow and into an asymmetric.l.dendritic in a forced flow. With increasing flow velocity, the upstream dendritic arm tip grows faster and the downstream arm grows slower. However, the evolution of the perpendic.l.r tip has no significant change. In addition, mesh grid has no influence on dendritic growth shape when mesh grid is above 300×300.
