A phylogenetic analysis of Trametes and related taxa is proposed,based on a wide sampling of temperate and tropical *** sequences of ribosomal DNA(ITS1-5.8S-ITS2)and RPB2 gene from mycelia cultures were analyzed by Maximum Likelihood and Bayesian methods,whilst morphological features were documented from the corresponding herbarium *** results were obtained from analyses of ribosomal LSU sequences downloaded from *** Bayesian analysis of ITS+RPB2 sequences gave the best resolution for the phylogenetic reconstructions and revealed the existence of three main lineages in the Trametes-clade:1)a monospecific lineage represented by Artolenzites elegans 2)a lineage including the genus Pycnoporus in its traditional sense and several species usually classified in the genus Trametes(***,***,***,***)&3)a lineage corresponding to the core genus Trametes,including type species of Trametes,Coriolopsis and *** presence of a pseudostipe,aspect and structure of the abhymenial surface,colour change with 5%aqueous solutions of potassium hydroxide and topography of pigments on skeletal hyphae gave relevant morphological support to these *** the structure of the hymenial surface,presence of a black line below the tomentum and color of context(except for genus Pycnoporus)usually used in traditional polypore-classifications did not reveal any phylogenetic significance.A partial systematic arrangement of the Trametes clade is proposed,with the introduction of a new genus:Leiotrametes Welti&***..Two new combinations:Leiotrametes lactinea(Berk.)Welti&*** ***(Berk.)Welti&*** proposed.

AIM： To investigate second-line chemotherapy in gemcitabine-pretreated patients with advanced or metastat- ic pancreatic cancer [（frequency, response, outcome, course of carbohydrate antigen 19-9 （CA 19-9）].METHODS： This retrospective study included all patients with advanced or metastatic pancreatic cancer （adenocarcinoma or carcinoma） treated with secondline chemotherapy in our center between 2000 and 2008. All patients received first-line chemotherapy with gemcitabine, and prior surgery or radiotherapy was permitted. We analyzed each chemotherapy protocol for second-line treatment, the number of cycles and the type of combination used. The primary endpoint was overall survival. Secondary endpoints included progression-free survival, response rate, grade 3-4 toxicity, dosage modifications and CA 19-9 course.a second-line therapy among 206 patients who had initially received first-line treatment with a gemcitabi- ne-based regimen. Median number of cycles was 4 （range： 1-12） and the median duration of treatment was 2.6 mo （range： 0.3-7.4）. The overall disease control rate was 40.0%. The median overall survival and progression-free survival from the start of second-line therapy were 5.8 （95% CI： 4.1-6.6） and 3.4 mo （95% CI： 2.4-4.2）, respectively. Toxicity was generally acceptable. Median overall survival of patients with a CA 19-9 level declining by more than 20% was 10.3 mo （95% CI： 4.5-11.6） vs 5.2 mo （95% CI： 4.0-6.4） for others （P = 0.008）.CONCLUSION： A large proportion of patients could benefit from second-line therapy, and CA 19-9 allows efficient treatment monitoring both in first and secondline chemotherapy.

This article exposes the beginnings of a new field which could be named as ＂plasmomechanics＂. Plasmomechanics comes from the convergence between mechanics and plasmonics. Here we discuss a relatively recent topic whose technolo- gical aim is the development of plasmonic strain sensors, The idea is based on the ability to deduce Au nanoparticles （NPs） distance distributions from polarized optical extinction spectroscopy which could thus give access to material strains. Variations of interparticle distances distributions can indeed lead to variations of plasmonic coupling and thus to material color change as shown here experimentally and numerically for random Au NP assemblies deposited onto elastomer films,

AIMTo confirm previous conclusions on Saccharomyces cerevisiae (S. cerevisiae) CNCM I-3856 for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) *** individual patient data meta-analysis was performed on two randomized clinical trials studying the effect of S. cerevisiae CNCM I-3856 supplementation on gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms in IBS subjects. A total of 579 IBS subjects were included. Outcomes were the daily Likert scale scores of abdominal pain/discomfort and bloating [area under the curve (AUC) and weekly means], responder status, and bowel movements (stool frequency and consistency). statistical analyses were conducted in Intent to Treat (ITT) population, IBS-C subjects and IBS-C subjects with an abdominal pain/discomfort score higher than or equal to 2 at baseline (“IBS-C ≥ 2 subpopulation”).RESULTSS. cerevisiae CNCM I-3856 significantly improved abdominal pain/discomfort and bloating during the second month of supplementation [AUC (W5-W8)] with improvement up to the minimal clinically relevant threshold of 10%: a 12.3% reduction of abdominal pain/discomfort in the ITT population compared to the Placebo group (P = 0.0134) has been observed. In the IBS-C ≥ 2 subpopulation, there were a 13.1% reduction of abdominal pain/discomfort and a 14.9% reduction of bloating compared to the Placebo group (P = 0.0194 and P = 0.0145, respectively). GI symptoms significantly decreased during supplementation but no statistical differences were reported between groups at the end of the supplementation period. Responder status was defined as a subject who experienced a decrease of 1 arbitrary unit (a.u.) or 50% of the abdominal discomfort score from baseline for at least 2 wk out of the last 4 wk of the study. We present a new method to model fracture of concrete based on energy *** concrete is considered on the mesoscale as composite consisting of cement paste,aggregates and micro *** this first step,the alkali-silica reaction is taken into account through damage mechanics though the process is more complex involving thermo-hygro-chemo-mechanical *** use a non-local damage model that ensures the wellposedness of the boundary value problem(BVP).In contrast to existing methods,the interactions between degrees of freedom evolve with the damage *** results are compared to analytical and experimental results and show good agreement.

Influence of initial microstructure and grain size on transformation of bainite to austenite in large size forgings

The kinetics of austenite formation in the surface and center regions of a 40 t forged ingot of a high-strength medium- carbon low-alloy steel was studied using high-resolution dilatometry. The starting microstructures from the surface or center regions had different proportions of bainite and residual austenite as well as different prior austenite grain sizes. Two heating rates representing the actual heating rates in the surface （5℃ s -1） and center regions （0.5℃ s -1） of large size forged blocks were utilized. Dilatometric curves revealed only one transformation step of austenite formation at both heating rates independent of grain size or proportion of phases. Optical microscopy, field emission gun scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction were used to study microstructure evolution and confirm the results obtained by dilatometry. The kinetic parameters for austenite formation were determined from the dilatometry data by Johnson-Mehl- Avrami-Kolmogorov （JMAK） equation. The JMAK coefficients were determined for each condition of the investigated steels. The calculations indicated that the nucleation and growth of austenite in the surface region were accelerated more than 10,000 times due to a significantly smaller average prior austenite grain size, stability of initial retained austenite, and accumulation of coarse carbides at the surface. The results were discussed in the framework of classical nucleation and growth theories using the kinetic parameters for austenite formation.

The curing of meat is a conservation technique widely used since ancient times to prolong shelf-life. It consists in exposing meat to a mixture of sodium chloride and nitrate/nitrite. Sodium chloride affects the flavor, texture and shelf-life of meat products. Animal fat mainly affects the flavor and texture, and nitrate and nitrite affect the color and flavor, and give cured meat products their typical aroma. Excessive intake of sodium has been linked to arterial hypertension and increased risk of cardiovascular diseases. Excessive intakes of saturated fatty acids in pork fat, and also of nitrite, have been identified as factors promoting some cancers. There is consequently an increasing consumer demand to reduce these ingredients in processed meat and so develop healthier cured meat products. This paper reviews how and to what extent sodium, animal fat rich in saturated fatty acids, and nitrite contents can be reduced in the production of dry-cured hams and dry-fermented sausages.

Progressive Obesity in Female Rats from Synergistic Interactions between Drugs and Whole Body Application of Weak, Physiologically Patterned Magnetic Fields

Prepubescent female rats treated with the atypical neuroleptic acepromazine but not ketamine, prazosin, or doxepin, after lithium/pilocarpine-induced seizures gradually became obese over their lifetimes if spontaneous seizures developed. Mild increases in weight gain were induced when prepuberal females were given pilocarpine and acepromazine while being exposed briefly (1.5 hr) to a frequency-modulated magnetic field known to induce seizures. Weekly (1.5 hr) exposures to physiologically-patterned magnetic fields over 36 wks had no effect on weight gain while continuous periseizure exposure to 50 Hz fields above about 1 μT facilitated mild weight gains and protracted aggression. Perinatal exposure to a very weak, a 7 Hz magnetic field or a nitric oxide inhibitor retarded the weight gain induced by the obesity procedure. These results indicate that synergisms during a single episode between neuronal electrical lability and pharmacological states can initiate a process of weight gain that progresses to extreme obesity. We suggest that at least a component of the global “epidemic of obesity” could be related to a synergism between the insidious emergence of amplitude modulations within biologically compatible electromagnetic frequencies from the proliferation of communication systems and the pervasive utilization of pharmacology to treat transient disorders of ontogeny within the human population.
