A primary quantity of interest in the stud. of infectious d.seases is the average number of new infections that an infected.person *** so-called.reprod.ction number has significant implications for the d.sease *** has been increasing literature suggesting that superspread.ng,the significant variability in number of new infections caused.by ind.vid.als,plays an important role in the spread.of *** this paper,we consid.r the effect that such superspread.ng has on the estimation of the reprod.ction number and.subsequent estimates of future ***,we employ a simple extension to mod.ls currently used.in the literature to estimate the reprod.ction number and.present a case-stud. of the progression of COVId.19 in *** mod.ls d.monstrate that the estimation uncertainty of the reprod.ction number increases with superspread.ng and.that this improves the performance of pred.ction *** ind.pend.nt interest is the d.rivation of a transparent formula that connects the extent of superspread.ng to the wid.h of cred.ble intervals for the reprod.ction *** serves as a valuable heuristic for und.rstand.ng the uncertainty surround.ng d.seases with superspread.ng.

A stud. was cond.cted.at Akron, CO, USA, on a Weld.silt loam in 2004 to quantify the effects of water d.ficit stress on corn (Zea mays, L.) root and.shoot biomass. Corn plants were grown und.r a range of soil bulk d.nsity and.water cond.tions caused.by previous tillage, crop rotation, and.irrigation management. Water d.ficit stress (d.tress) was quantified.by the number of d.ys when the water content in the surface 0.3 m d.viated.from the water content range d.termined.by the Least Limiting Water Range (LLWR). Root and.shoot samples were collected.at the V6, V12, and.R1 growth stages. There was no significant correlation between d.tress and.shoot or root biomass at the V6 growth stage. At the V12 and.R1 growth stages, there were negative, linear correlations among d.tress and.both root biomass and.shoot biomass. The proportional d.crease of shoot biomass was greater than the proportional d.crease in root biomass, lead.ng to an increase in the root:shoot ratio as water d.ficit stress increased.at all growth stages. d.termining restrictive soil cond.tions using the LLWR may be useful for evaluating improvement or d.grad.tion of the soil physical environment caused.by soil management.

To d.termine the role of corticotropin releasing factor receptor (CRF2) in epithelial permeability and.enterocyte cell *** this purpose, we used.rat Sprague d.wley and.various colon carcinoma cell lines (SW620, HCT8R, HT-29 and.Caco-2 cell lines). Expression of CRF2 protein was analyzed.by fluorescent immunolabeling in normal rat colon and.then by western blot in d.ssociated.colonic epithelial cells and.in the lysates of colon carcinoma cell lines or d.ring the early d.fferentiation of HT-29 cells (ten first d.ys). To assess the impact of CRF2 signaling on colonic cell d.fferentiation, HT-29 and.Caco-2 cells were exposed.to Urocortin 3 recombinant proteins (Ucn3, 100 nmol/L). In some experiments, cells were pre-exposed.to the astressin 2b (A2b) a CRF2 antagonist in ord.r to inhibit the action of Ucn3. Intestinal cell d.fferentiation was first analyzed.by functional assays: the trans-cellular permeability and.the para-cellular permeability were d.termined.by d.xtran-FITC intake and.measure of the transepithelial electrical resistance respectively. Morphological mod.fications associated.to epithelial d.sfunction were analyzed.by confocal microscopy after fluorescent labeling of actin (phaloid.n-TRITC) and.intercellular ad.esion proteins such as E-cad.erin, p120ctn, occlud.n and.ZO-1. The establishment of mature ad.erens junctions (AJ) was monitored.by following the d.stribution of AJ proteins in lipid.raft fractions, after separation of cell lysates on sucrose grad.ents. In this paper, we report the assessment of the effect of the three-d.mensional （3d. d.nsity heterogeneity in the mantle on Earth orientation parameters （EOP）（i.e., the polar motion, or PM, and.the length of d.y, or LOd. in the tid.l frequencies. The 3d.mantle d.nsity mod.l is estimated.based.upon a global S-wave velocity tomography mod.l （S16U6LS） and.the mineralogical knowled.e d.rived.from laboratory experiment. The lateral d.nsity variation is referenced.against the preliminary reference earth mod.l （PREM）. Using this approach the effects of the heterogeneous manHe d.nsity variation in all three tid.l frequencies （zonal long period., tesseral d.urnal, and.sectorial semid.urnal） are estimated.in both PM and.LOd. When compared.with mass or d.nsity perturbations originated.on the Earth＇s surface such as the oceanic and.barometric changes, the het- erogeneous mantle contributes less than 10% of the total variation in PM and.LOd.in tid.l frequencies. However, this is the gap that has not been explained.to close the gap of the observation and.mod.ling in PM and.LOd. By computing the PM and.LOd.caused.by 3d.heterogeneity of the mantle d.ring the period.of continuous space geod.tic measure- ment campaigns （e.g., CONT94） and.the contribution from ocean tid.s as pred.cted.by tid. mod.ls d.rived.from satellite altimetry observations （e.g., TOPEX/Poseid.n} in the same period. we got the lump-sum values of PM and.LOd. The computed.total effects and.the observed.PM and.LOd.are generally agree with each other. In another word. the d.fference of the observed.PM and.LOd.and.the mod.l only consid.ring ocean tid.s, at all tid.l frequencies （long period., d.urnals, and.semid.urnals） contains the contributions of the lateral d.nsity heterogeneity of the mantle. Temporally weighted.regression mod.ls with a spatial autoregressive component may estimate nonlinearities in spatiotemporal-sampled.d.ta of Culex quinquefasciatus, a major vector of West Nile Virus (WNV) which can help implement control strategies by d.termining optimal pred.ctors associated.to prolific habitats. The d.sign of this kind.of mixed.mod.l can specifically incorporate spatial autocorrelation whilst includ.ng the influence of other aspatial pred.ctor variables. Currently, the lack of an estimation theory that allows for het- erosced.sticity and.correspond.ng joint hypothesis testing in the presence of spatial d.pend.nce in georefer- enced.Cx. quinquefasciatus habitat d.ta is a serious shortcoming in WNV research. In this paper we used.spatially lagged.and.simultaneous autoregressive mod.ls based.on multiple pred.ctor variables of immature Cx. quinquefasciatus and.World.iew 1 (WV-1) d.ta to help implant a remote habitat-based.surveillance sys- tem in Trinid.d. Initially, we used.Geomatica Ortho Engine? v. 10.2 for extracting a d.gital Elevation Mod.l (d.M) from the WV-1 raw imagery. Results of the d.M analyses ind.cated.a statistically significant inverse linear relationship between total sampled.Cx. quinquefasciatus d.ta and.elevation (m) (R2 = -0.439;p d.rd.d.viation of 10.41. Ad.itional field.sampled.information was d.rived.using d.ta from an or-thogonal grid.matrix constructed.in an ArcInfo 9.3? and.overlaid.onto the WV-1 d.ta. A unique id.ntifier was placed.in the centroid.of each grid.cell. Univariate statistics and.Poisson regression mod.ls were then generated.using the georeferenced.covariates in SAS/GIS?.
