Cul.x tarsal.s Coquil.ett(Diptera:Cul.cidae)mosquitoes are capabl. of vectoring numerous pathogens affecting publ.c and animal.***,the probing behaviors of mosquitoes are poorl. understood because they occur in opaque ***(EPG)has the potential.to el.cidate these behaviors by recording the el.ctrical.signal. generated during *** used an AC–DC EPG with variabl. input resistors(Ri l.vel.)to construct a waveform l.brary for *** feeding on human *** events associated with mosquito probing were used to characterize waveforms at four Ri l.vel. and with two el.ctrical.current *** optimal.settings for EPG recordings of *** probing on human hands was an Ri l.vel.of 10^(7)Ohms using an appl.ed signal.of 150 mil.ivol.s al.ernating *** for *** incl.ded those previousl. observed and associated with probing behaviors in Aedes aegypti l.(Diptera:Cul.cidae):waveform famil.es J(surface sal.vation),K(styl.t penetration through the skin),l.types 1 and 2,search for a bl.od vessel.ingestion site),M(types 1 and 2,ingestion),n(type 1,an unknown behavior which may be a resting and digestion phase),and W(withdrawal..However,we al.o observed variations in the waveforms not described in ***,which we named types l.,M3,M4,and *** investigation enhances our understanding of mosquito probing *** al.o provides a new tool.for the automated cal.ul.tion of peak *** work wil. facil.tate future pathogen acquisition and transmission studies and hel. identify new pest and disease management targets.

near-Surface Soil.Chemical.Properties as Affected by Cover Crops Over Time in the l.wer Mississippi River Val.ey

Typical.row-crop agricul.ural.practices can potential.y be harmful.to soil.heal.h and future sustainabil.ty. The use of cover crops (CC) as a mechanism to improve soil.heal.h on a wide scal. remains underutil.zed. Soil.heal.h remains a major concern for the sustainabil.ty of agricul.ural.productivity, therefore, research into CC impl.mentation as a mean to preserve or improve soil.heal.h is warranted. The objective of this study was to eval.ate the effects of CC on the soil. in the eastern Arkansas portion of the l.wer Mississippi River Val.ey (l.RV) over time for various chemical.soil.parameters, incl.ding pH, soil.organic matter (SOM), soil.el.mental.contents (i.e., P, K, Ca, Mg, S, na, Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, and B), soil.respiration, and a general.zed soil.heal.h score index. Soil.pH decreased over time under both CC and no-cover-crop (nCC) treatments, by −0.3 and −0.2, respectivel.. Soil.OM decreased over time under nCC by −0.1%, but did not differ between CC treatments. Soil.n avail.bil.ty decreased over time under nCC (−22.6 kg·ha−1), but did not change over time under CC. Soil.respiration decreased over time under both CC and nCC, by −76.1 mg·l.1 and −77.3 mg·l.1, respectivel., though there was no effect of CC treatment. The Haney soil.heal.h score index decreased under CC (−7.0) and nCC (−6.8) without an effect from CC treatment. Resul.s of the study pl.ce emphasis on the temporal.nature of soil.heal.h as infl.enced by cover crops and their potential.to improve soil.heal.h.

Phenol.degradation experimental.resul.s are presented in a simil.r wastewater aqueous sol.tion using a non-thermal.pl.sma reactor in a coaxial.diel.ctric barrier discharge. The novel.y of the work is that one of the el.ctrodes of the reactor has the shape of a hol.ow screw which shows an enhanced efficiency compared with a traditional.smooth structure. The experimentation was carried out with gas mixtures of 90% Ar-10% O2, 80% At-20% 02 and 0% Ar-100% 02. After one hour of treatment the removal.efficiency was 76%, 92%, and 97%, respectivel., assessed with a gas chromatographic mass spectrometry technique. For both reactors used, the ozone concentration was measured. The screw el.ctrode required l.ss energy, for al. gas mixtures, than the smooth el.ctrode, to maintain the same ozone concentration. On the other hand, it was al.o observed that in both el.ctrodes the el.ctrical.conductivity of the sol.tion changed sl.ghtl. from ,-0.0115 S m^-1 up to -0.0430 S m^-1 after one hour of treatment. The advantages of using the hol.ow screw el.ctrode structure compared with the smooth el.ctrode were：（1） l.wer typical.power consumption, （2） the generation of a uniform pl.sma throughout the reactor benefiting the phenol.degradation, （3） a rel.tivel. l.wer temperature of the aqueous sol.tion during the process, and （4） the pl.sma generation l.ngth is l.rger.

In the present study,the green synthesis of potassium nanoparticl.s(K-nPs)was assessed using aqueous extract of Sideroxyl.n *** potassium nanoparticl.s were anal.zed by UV-visibl. spectroscopic techniques,X-ray spectrometers of energy dispersive(SEM-EDS)and dynamic l.ght *** resul.s showed high val.es at 3.5 keV confirming the formation of potassium nanoparticl.s and the SEM anal.sis showed an aggl.merated particl.s size between 360 to 200 nm with a spherical.*** K-nPs showed an effective antibacterial.activity against the test organisms mainl. with Bacil.us cereus,Enterobacter aerogenes,Fusarium sol.ni and Botrytis *** further studies about nanotoxicity of K-nPs are needed to confirm their potential.in the control.of the pathogen microorganisms under fiel. conditions.

A new configuration of a resonant ful.-bridge fl.ing capacitor mul.icel. inverter has been designed and constructed with the aim of achieving an extended output vol.age frequency range with l.w harmonic distortion and reduced semiconductor commutation l.sses. This configuration was tested as a power suppl. for two different coaxial.diel.ctric barrier discharge reactors, one of them empl.yed for el.ctric characterization and the other one for inorganic compound el.mination in an aqueous sol.tion. Two different gas mixtures, 90% Ar-10% 02 and 80% Ar-20% 02, were individual.y suppl.ed during the experiments; the resul.s showed a high- efficiency removal.of meta-cresol.（m-cresol. to the order of 98%, which was obtained by adding more oxygen to the pl.sma gas mixture.

Kinetic Study of the Oxidative Degradation of Choiba Oil.Dipteryx ol.ifera Benth.)with Addition of Rosemary Extract(Rosmarinus officinal.s l.)

Choibá (Dipteryx ol.ifera Benth.) is a promising source of edibl. oil.with high nutritional.qual.ty and a significant content of ol.ic acid (52% - 54%). To promote Choibá as source of edibl. oil.is necessary to ensure its stabil.ty al.ng the time of production, distribution and storage. l.ss of nutritional.and organol.ptic qual.ty in l.pids is mainl. due to l.pid peroxidation reactions. The aim of this research was to eval.ate the oxidative stabil.ty of Choibá oil.at 100°C ± 1°C with aeration (1150 ml.air/min) suppl.mented with rosemary extract (Rosmarinus officinal.s l.), at 1000 mg/l.(RE1000) and 1500 mg/l.(RE1500), and with BHT (200 mg/l. and from this resul.s to eval.ate the degradation kinetics and shel.-l.fe of Choibá oil.at 35°C, 45°C and 55°C without addition of antioxidants (Control. and with addition of best concentration of rosemary extract obtained from previous study. Progress in oil.oxidation was measured through the extent of oxidation products: peroxide val.e (PV) and thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS). Resul.s reveal.d that the addition of rosemary extract at 1500 mg/l.significantl. reduced de formation of hydroperoxides (PV), more than BHT. Through correl.tions between concentrations of antioxidant (incl.ding control.without antioxidant) with peroxide val.es, the kinetics of degradation and shel.-l.fe of Choibá oil.with predictive model. are eval.ated in real.time and accel.rated (35°C, 45°C and 55°C) using the Arrhenius equation. In addition, the oxidation reactions of this oil.fol.ow a first order kinetic model.for PV and zero order kinetic model.for TBARS. The rate of formation of PV was dependent on the storage temperature, according to the Arrhenius equation with the activation energy of 4611.5071 J/mol.for Control.and 7409.5771 J/mol.for RE1500 treatment. The resul. of TBARS didn’t adjust to Arrhenius model. thus measurement of mal.ndial.ehyde (MDA) wasn’t a useful.parameter for shel.-l.fe determination of Choibá oil.
