Schizophrenia with and without obsessive-compulsive symptoms:a comparative analysis of performance on trail making test and disability on WHOD AS

Background Presence of obsessive-compulsive symptoms(0CS)affects performance on tests of some cognitive functions,such as the trail making test(TMT),and may affect the level of disability in schizophrenia(SZ).Aim s The aim of the present study was to compare performance on TMT and disability on WHO Disability Assessment Schedule(WHODAS)in persons with SZ with and without 0CS in a cross-sectional *** Persons with SZ(n=200)fulfilling DSM-V(Diagnostic and Statistical Manual)diagnostic criteria were assessed on Yale Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale(YB0CS)and divided into two groups based on presence or absence of *** and WHODAS V.2.0 were *** two groups as a whole,as well as a subsample matched on age,gender and age of onset were *** Out of 200 persons with SZ,37(18.5%)reported *** OCS group took a significantly longer mean time to complete TMT-A(Z=-3.02,p=0.003)as well as TMT-B(Z=-3.551,prrelations were found between TMT-A and total YB0CS Scores(r=0.351,p=0.033),as well as TMT-A and YB0CS compulsion scores(r=0.404,p=0.013)but not with TMT-B *** OCS group reported greater disability in all domains separately as well as on average WHODAS Scores(Z=-5.969,prrelations were found between YB0CS obsession scores and YBOCS total scores with average WHODAS Scores(r=0.614,pr=0.406,p=0.013,respectively).We obtained essentially similar results with the matched subsample as well as with the entire *** Persons with SZ and comorbid OCS had significantly poorer performance on TMTs and greater disability in comparison to persons with SZ *** of disability correlated with severity of OCS.

Brachymetatarsia with accessory navicular in right foot： A rare coincidental finding

A 33 years old female patient presented with posttraumatic pain in the right ibot tor which radiographs of the right foot was advised. No fracture was detected on radiographs and patient was managed conservatively on medications and posterior splint immobilization. We found coincidentally a short fourth metatarsal and an accessory navicular bone in the right foot radiographs. After 3 weeks of immobilization, she underwent mobilization of the right foot, weight bearing and intensive physio- therapy for 6 weeks. After two months of injury she was still complaining of pain on the plantar aspect of right foot which was diagnosed as metatarsalgia and operated on by excision of the neuroma present in the 3rd web space of the right foot. After surgery she was completely relieved of pain and could do activities well related to the right foot.

Non-Linear Effect of Volume Fraction of Inclusions on The Effective Thermal Conductivity of Composite Materials: A Modified Maxwell Model

In this paper, non-linear dependence of volume fraction of inclusions on the effective thermal conductivity of composite materials is investigated. Proposed approximation formula is based on the Maxwell’s equation, in that a non-linear term dependent on the volume fraction of the inclusions and the ratio of the thermal conductivities of the polymer continuum and inclusions is introduced in place of the volume fraction of inclusions. The modified Maxwell’s equation is used to calculate effective thermal conductivity of several composite materials and agreed well with the earlier experimental results. A comparison of the proposed relation with different models has also been made.
