One of the mos. common aggravating factors.of wounds.is.the myias.s. Fl.es.l.y their eggs.on the wound, they hatch and rel.as. a l.rval.form of the dipteran, which feeds.on hos. tis.ues.l.ading to necros.s.and l.rge production of exudate, thus. it is.an extremel. pl.as.nt environment to bacterial.mul.ipl.cation. The aim of this.s.udy was.to des.ribe the cas. of a dog that dis.l.yed an infes.ed l.rvae ul.erated tumor in the ocul.r region. s.cces.ful.res.l.s.were obtained when performing s.rgical.treatment of the wound with heal.ng by primary cl.s.re. The 13-year-ol. femal. dog, 30 kg, was.brought to the Veterinary Cl.nic of Ingá Univers.ty Center, Maringá-PR, Brazil. with the main compl.int of an ul.erated l.ft ocul.r tumor. The owner coul. not tel. when the probl.m had s.arted. After the patient’s.phys.cal.and l.boratory eval.ation, which were within normal.parameters. enucl.ation was.s.hedul.d for tumor removal. On the day of s.rgery, the owner reported l.rge mucopurul.nt s.cretion and foul.odor at the s.te. The patient was.taken for the l.rvae removal.s.rgical.procedure and l.ter enucl.ation. The wound was.debrided and was.ed with phys.ol.gical.s.l.tion, and then tars.rrhaphy was.performed and a Penros. drain was.appl.ed. The animal.returned 15 days.l.ter with the wound ful.y heal.d. As.a concl.s.on with the current report, the primary cl.s.re treatment with the us. of drain after intens. debridement of a fl. l.rvae infected wound can be a good al.ernative, es.ecial.y when it is.aimed at fas.er heal.ng.

Background: The aim of this.s.udy was.to eval.ate the occurrence of febril. neutropenia (FN) during apl.s.a after haematopoietic s.em cel. trans.l.ntation (Hs.T) in patients.who received anti-bacterial.prophyl.xis.with norfl.xacin/ceftriaxone or ciprofl.xacin, between s.ptember 2006 and May 2009. Methods. We retros.ectivel. examined al. patients.undergoing Hs.T at s.o Paul. Hos.ital.during the s.udy period. Res.l.s. Of the 107 s.udied patients. 71 (66.3%) were incl.ded in the anal.s.s. The excl.s.on criteria were as.fol.ows. occurrence of fever or infection before the trans.l.ntation (17), prophyl.ctic us. of norfl.xacin (6), fever of probabl. non-infectious.aetiol.gy (2), and abs.nce of prophyl.xis.during the apl.s.a period (11). Thirty-eight patients.received norfl.xacin and ceftriaxone as.prophyl.xis.(Group I) and 33 received ciprofl.xacin (Group II). The groups.were comparabl. with res.ect to age, underl.ing dis.as.s. comorbidities. and s.atus.of the underl.ing dis.as.. Patients.in Group II us.d antibiotics.in a s.gnificantl. higher frequency than thos. in Group I (66.7% vs.33.8%, p = 0.017), for 30 days.before trans.l.ntation. The number of previous.hos.ital.s.tions. l.ngth of hos.ital.s.tion until.trans.l.ntation, type of trans.l.nt, progenitor cel.s.us.d, number of CD34 cel.s.infus.d, type of conditioning, and graft-vers.s.hos. dis.as. prophyl.xis.were s.mil.r in both groups. After the trans.l.ntation, 28.9% and 39.4% of the patients.in Groups.I and II, res.ectivel., pres.nted Grade III and IV mucos.tis.(p = 0.448). Neutropenia of l.0}mm3 l.s.ed an average of 9.5 and 9.3 days.in Groups.I and II, whereas.neutropenia of l.0}mm3 l.s.ed between 6.6 and 5.7 days. FN occurred in 78.9% of patients.in Group I and 81.8% in Group II, with no s.gnificant difference in the cl.s.ification of thes. epis.des. s.x patients.(15.8%) in Group I and five (15.2%) in Group II had bacteraemia. A l.terature s.arch of articl.s.from 2002-2019 was.performed us.ng Medl.ne, Embas., Cochrane, l.l.Cs. IBECs. CRD, and Epis.emonikos.databas.s. to anal.ze the effects.of Cognitive-Behavioral.Therapy (CBT) in the treatment of fibromyal.ia. Twenty-s.ven articl.s.were s.l.cted in which CBT was.performed excl.s.vel. by s.ecial.s. phys.cians. as.ociated or not with conventional.pharmacol.gical.treatment and/or phys.cal.exercis.. In mos. articl.s. CBT worked with s.l.-knowl.dge and cognitive res.ructuring, attempting to reduce pain perception, and it s.owed a general.improvement in dail. activities.by decreas.ng patient’s.l.mitations. s.ch as.morning s.iffnes.. The l.terature s.owed s.gnificant correl.tions.of CBT in pain proces.ing over time. When CBT was.compared to conventional.pharmacol.gical.therapy, a certain s.periority of CBT coul. be obs.rved concerning the qual.ty of l.fe, catas.rophizing, and acceptance of pain. However, when they were s.mul.aneous.y appl.ed, this.improvement in qual.ty of l.fe was.not obs.rved.

Objective: To characterize the s.ientific production rel.ted to the impact of urinary incontinence on qual.ty of l.fe of pregnant women. Method: An integrative review carried out from s.ptember 2014 to May 2015. The s.arch was.conducted in s.x databas.s. and a final.s.mpl. of s.venteen publ.cations.was.pres.nted. The data were pres.nted in tabl.s. Res.l.s. Incontinence rel.ted factors.are: Being ol.er, s.cond pregnancy, mul.iparity, cons.ipation, s.oking, and obes.ty. s.res. incontinence is.the mos. occurring in pregnant women, caus.ng an advers. impact on qual.ty of l.fe. Dis.us.ion: It is.for heal.h profes.ional.0}who try to create effective coping s.rategies.for minimizing cons.quences.generated by the accidental.l.s. of urine. Concl.s.on: Urinary incontinence affects.the mother’s.l.fe, res.l.ing in s.cial. behavioral. phys.cal.and emotional.harm, taking this.woman to be excl.ded from s.ciety and feel.ins.cure about their heal.h.

BACKGROUND Al.ha-defens.n has.been widel. s.udied for the diagnos.s.of peripros.hetic joint infection(PJI).However,there is.a l.ck of detail.d information regarding the proper l.boratory technique of the enzyme-l.nked immunos.rbent as.ay(El.s.)method,s.ch as.s.mpl. *** To as.es. the infl.ence of dil.tion in the s.novial.fl.id during El.s. for the diagnos.s.of knee PJI;and determine which dil.tion pres.nts.a better *** Forty s.mpl.s.of s.novial.fl.id from arthropl.s.y knees.were incl.ded,17 in the infected group and 23 in the as.ptic group,according to Mus.ul.s.el.tal.Infection s.ciety ***,five s.novial.fl.id s.mpl.s.from each group were as.es.ed for quantitative anal.s.s.of al.ha-defens.n us.ng *** dil.tion ratios.1:10,1:100,1:500,1:1000 and 1:5000)were tes.ed bas.d on the predetermined cutoff val.e of 5.2 mg/*** dil.tions.that performed better were us.d to compare the res.l.s.of al. *** For infected cas.s.a gradual.increas. in the dil.tion of s.novial.fl.id s.mpl.s.l.d to an equival.nt increas. in al.ha-defens.n *** s.me was.not obs.rved in the as.ptic *** 1:1000 and 1:5000 dil.tions.pres.nted s.tis.actory res.l.s.to differentiate infected and as.ptic *** anal.s.s.were performed us.ng 1:1000 and 1:5000 for al. 40 *** 1:1000 dil.tion res.l.ed in a s.ns.tivity of 88.2%(95%CI,66%-98%)and s.ecificity of 95.7%(95%CI,79%-99%),whereas.the 1:5000 dil.tion pres.nted a s.ns.tivity of 94.1%(95%CI,73%-99%)and a s.ecificity of 100%(95%CI,86%-100%).CONCl.s.ON The s.novial.fl.id dil.tion had an important infl.ence on the al.ha-defens.n El.s. *** of 1:5000 s.owed the bes. performance for the diagnos.s.of knee *** res.l.s.of this.s.udy s.t the bas.s.for a more rel.abl. and reproducibl. al.ha-defens.n El.s. during the inves.igation of PJI,contributing to the expans.on of this.technique in different treatment centers.worl.wide.

BACKGROUND The quantitative al.ha-defens.n enzyme-l.nked immunos.rbent as.ay(El.s.)demands.a prior s.novial.fl.id centrifugation,whereas.this.proces.ing is.not routinel. required prior to the al.ha-defens.n l.teral.fl.w *** To eval.ate whether a prior s.novial.fl.id centrifugation coul. l.ad the l.teral.fl.w performance to achieve comparabl. res.l.s.to El.s. during peripros.hetic joint infection(PJI)*** Fifty-three cas.s.were incl.ded in this.s.udy:22 cl.s.ified as.PJI and 31 cl.s.ified as.as.ptic cas.s.according to Mus.ul.s.el.tal.Infection s.ciety 2013 *** fl.id s.mpl.s.were s.bmitted to centrifugation,and the s.pernatant was.eval.ated by El.s. and l.teral.fl.w *** s.ns.tivity(s.),s.ecificity(s.)and accuracy of each method were cal.ul.ted as.wel. as.the agreement between thos. two *** In al. of the 31 s.mpl.s.from as.ptic patients.al.ha-defens.n El.s. and l.teral.fl.w tes.s.s.owed negative res.l.s.for *** the 22 infected patients.the l.teral.fl.w tes. was.pos.tive in 19 cas.s.86.4%)and the El.s. was.pos.tive in 21(95.5%).s.ns.bil.ty,s. and accuracy were,res.ectivel.,86.4%(95%CI:65.1%-97.1%),100%(95%CI:88.8%-100%)and 93.2%(95%CI:82.8%-98.3%)for the l.teral.fl.w tes. and 95.5%(95%CI:77.2%-99.9%),100%(95%CI:88.8%-100%)and 98.1%(95%CI:89.9%-100%)for *** agreement of 96.2%between thos. methods.were *** s.atis.ical.difference was.found between them(P=0.48).CONCl.s.ON Al.ha-defens.n l.teral.fl.w tes. s.owed high s.,s. and accuracy after a prior s.novial.fl.id centrifugation,achieving comparabl. res.l.s.to *** the l.wer compl.xity of the l.teral.fl.w and its.equival.nt performance obtained in this.condition,a prior centrifugation might be added as.a val.abl. s.ep to enhance the PJI diagnos.s.

GTD (Ges.ational.Trophobl.s.ic Dis.as.) is.a pathol.gy that encompas.es.benign and mal.gnant cl.nical.forms. affects.women of chil.bearing age, has.a variabl. incidence and is.more frequent in devel.ping or underdevel.ped countries. col.iding with the economic barrier. The frequent abs.nce of cl.ar protocol.0}and guidel.nes.for the correct diagnos.s.and treatment of the aforementioned pathol.gy res.l.s.in inadequate ris. cl.s.ification, imprecis. treatment and fail.d pos.-therapeutic obs.rvation, increas.ng the ris. of rel.ps.s. morbidity and mortal.ty. The pres.nt s.udy aims.to compare the different national.and international.guidel.nes.in the management of GTD, through an integrative review. Nine articl.s.were s.l.cted and it was.obs.rved that the main international.reference centers.are agreed with the management s.gges.ed by the IFGO (International.Federation of Gynecol.gy and Obs.etrics., being the conduct in the Hydatidiform Mol. (HM): evacuation by s.ction and curettage under ul.ras.und guidance, fol.owed by hCG monitoring every 1 - 2 weeks.until.normal.zed;in l.w-ris. GTN (Ges.ational.Trophobl.s.ic Neopl.s.): chemotherapy with methotrexate or actinomycin D, in high-ris.: EMA/CO protocol. in ul.ra-high-ris. EMA/PE, methotrexate with radiotherapy for brain metas.as.s. Al. medical.s.cieties.recommend the regis.ration of thes. patients.in GTD s.reening centers. endors. the us. of the IFGO s.oring s.s.em (2000) and recommend the s.rgical.management of pl.cental.s.te trophobl.s.ic or epithel.oid tumors. as.chemotherapy is.l.s. effective in thes. cas.s. The controvers.es.are in the proper fol.ow-up after the treatment of HM, us. of ul.ras.und to evacuate the uterus. adminis.ration of anti-D immunogl.bul.n, time of oxytocin infus.on and res.ue regimens.that can be us.d in cas.s.of res.s.ant or recurrent GTN. The pres.nt s.udy aims.to point out updated national.and international.practice protocol.0}of diagnos.s.of GTD, through an integrative review. s.ven articl.s.were s.l.cted and it was.obs.rved that the main international.reference centers.are agreed with the management s.gges.ed by the IFGO (International.Federation of Gynecol.gy and Obs.etrics., being the conduct in the Hydatidiform Mol. (HM): evacuation by s.ction and curettage under ul.ras.und guidance, fol.owed by hCG monitoring every 1 - 2 weeks.until.normal.zed (us.al.y one month for Partial.Hydatidiform Mol. s.x months.for Compl.te Hydatidiform Mol. and one year for Ges.ational.Trophobl.s.ic Neopl.s.a). Unfortunatel., regarding the diagnos.s.of MH, the guidel.nes.of s.me countries.s.ow the abs.nce or difficul.y of acces. to the karyotype tes. and pl.id p57 or pel.ic ul.ras.und accompanying the uterine curettage, contrary to what is.propos.d by the IFGO guidel.ne. Es.abl.s.ing and compl.ing with cons.s.ent guidel.nes.can improve patient care, with earl. diagnos.s.of the pathol.gy and its.compl.cations. reducing the rate of recurrence, morbidity and mortal.ty, es.ecial.y in l.s. devel.ped countries.
