Radiotherapy to the Left Breast with 3DCRT, IMRT or VMAT: International Medical Center Experience

Radiation therapy after conservative breast surgery is an integral part of the treatment of early breast cancer. The aim of radiotherapy is to achieve the best coverage of the Planning Target Volume (PTV), while reducing the dose to the Organs at Risk (OAR). Such goals are not always achievable with the conformal three dimensions plans (3DCRT). Recently, radiation oncologist uses Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT) and Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT) for irradiating the breast. Factors Influencing Customer Acceptance of M-Commerce Services in Jordan

The TAM (technology acceptance model) has been widely used to examine the factors that influence a person"s acceptance of new technology. In mobile commerce, trust has been proposed as an important factor affecting the adoption of this new technology. The objective of this study is to test the impact of trust and other factors on mobile commerce adoption based on the technology acceptance model. A cross-sectional survey is conducted among 130 respondents from two universities samples. Bivariate correlations and multiple regressions were used to test the hypotheses. The results shows that trust significantly influence the attitude towards accepting mobile commerce.

Experience with Post Transplant Parathyroidectomy in Gulf Region and Literature Review

Sustained elevation of parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels is not uncommon post renal transplantation. Though in the majority of patients, it gradually normalizes, on average 5% of transplanted patients require parathyroidectomy (PTX). However, PTX itself has been associated with deterioration in allograft function and even completes graft loss seen with both total and subtotal PTX as well as an increased rate of acute rejection. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of post transplant partial PTX on allograft function in our patients as well as the incidence of acute rejection. Our results show that post transplantation, subtotal PTX, was successful in achieving metabolic control while preserving graft function without an increased incidence of acute rejection. Retention of sufficient residual parathyroid tissue with partial PTX might account for favorable outcome in our study. Despite this, surgery for advanced hyperparathyroidism should optimally take place in the pre-transplant period.

A Comparative Study to Find the Most Applicable Fire Weather Index for Lebanon Allowing to Predict a Forest Fire

Forest fire prediction proves to contribute in preventing fire occurrence or reducing its catastrophic impacts in worst cases on human lives, properties and green forestry. Seven existing fire weather indices are studied in this paper. The aim is to find the best fitting model for Lebanon Mediterranean conditions among Keetch Byram, Nesterov, Modified Nesterov, Angstrom, Modified Keetch Byram, FMI and FWI Canadian index. Meteorological data from Lebanon are implemented for that purpose. On the behalf, a study is held on the most efficient parameters allowing to find an adapted empirical drought index to Lebanon and Mediterranean conditions in the future.

Wittig reactions of benzaldehydes, alkanals, and cycloalkanals as well as of acetophenones are carried out with alkoxycarbonyl methylidenetriphenylphosphoranes in 10 w% aqueous NaOH, where the cinnamates and alkenoates produced are hydrolysed in situ and the corresponding acids are obtained after mostly simple extractive work-up, often without employing organic solvents. Under the same conditions, benzaldehydes are reacted with alkoxycarbonyl bromomethy-lidenephosphorane to produce 3-arylprop-2-ynoic acids (arylpropiolic acids).

Crystallographic Parameters and Band Gap of CdSxSe1-x Mixed Crystals

Crystals of CdS x Se 1-x alloys have been grown from the vapour phase. Some of the physical properties, such as lattice parameters, crystal structure and x-rays data of CdS x Se 1-x alloys were determined using x-ray diffractometry. X-ray diffractometry has shown that CdS-CdSe mixed crystals had the wurtzite structure for all compositions between CdS and CdSe. The lattice parameters (both a and c) were found to show a linear dependence with composition. The dependence of the lattice parameters of a and c on composition can be expressed as: a (x) = 4.165 + 0.16x; c (x) = 6.713 + 0.27x. The variation of band gap with composition was determined for these samples from optical absorption measurements, which showed that the band gap varied smoothly and monotonically, but not linearly over the composition range typical results were found between 2.42-1.74 eV at room temperature.

This paper discusses an embedded home automation system that provides a method for monitoring and controlling household energy consuming devices. The hardware, software and system interface means utilized for implementation are presented and the particulars of the initial prototype are detailed.
