An understanding of the thermodynamics of the complexation process utilized in sustaining drug release in clay matrices is of great *** characterisation techniques as well as isothermal calorimetry were utilized in investigating the adsorption process of a model cationic drug(diltiazem hydrochloride,DIL)onto a pharmaceutical clay system(magnesium aluminium silicate,MAS).X-ray powder diffraction(XrPD),attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(ATrFTIr)and optical microscopy confirmed the successful formation of the DIL-MAS *** quantification from the complexes demonstrated variable behaviour in the differing media used with DIL degrading to desacetyl diltiazem hydrochloride(DC-DIL)in the 2 M HCl *** also,the authors report for the first time two binding processes that occurred for DIL and MAS.A competitor binding model was thus proposed and the thermodynamics obtained suggested their binding processes to be enthalpy driven and entropically *** information is of great importance for a formulator as care and consideration should be given with appropriate media selection as well as the nature of binding in complexes.

Do adjunctive art therapies reduce symptomatology in schizophrenia? A meta-analysis

BACKGrOUND art therapies are advocated by national bodies,such as the United Kingdom’s National Institute for Health and Care Excellence,to alleviate the negative symptoms associated with *** last decade has however,seen several new larger well-controlled trials published suggesting an update is *** To asses randomised controlled trials(rCT)of art therapies for reducing the symptoms of schizophrenia–particularly negative *** Searches of PubMed and Scopus were conducted until May 2019 for rCTs examining the impact of art therapies on psychosis(positive,negative and total)symptoms in people diagnosed with *** quality was assessed using the Cochrane risk of bias *** effects meta-analyses were used to derive overall effect *** analyses were conducted using both metaregression and categorical *** We identified 133 articles,of which 9 rCTs involving 948 participants(475 assigned to art therapies and 473 controls)met our inclusion *** random effects models,we calculated pooled effect sizes(Hedges g)for end-oftrial symptomatic *** sizes both for total symptoms[g=-0.27,95%confidence interval(CI)-0.60 to 0.05,k=6]and for positive symptoms(g=-0.10,95%CI-0.35 to 0.15,k=6)were non-significant;however,we did find significant reduction of negative symptoms(g=-0.42,95%CI-0.70 to-0.14,k=9).Metaregression revealed that negative symptom reduction was larger in trials with a greater proportion of women and in trials with younger ***,the negative symptom reduction following art therapies was limited to lower quality trials and did not emerge in trials that used blind assessment of *** This review presents a comprehensive meta-analysis of art therapies in schizophrenia in terms of both studies included and participant *** found that art therapies did not significantly reduce total or positive symptoms.A"small"therapeutic effect was found for n

First order dynamics approaching of broiler chicken deep body temperature response to step changes in ambient temperature

Traditional environmental control methods for poultry housing which rely solely on environmental factors fall short in meeting thermal and physiological needs of the *** methods are needed that factor in the physiological needs and responses of the animals in order to maximize well-being of the animals and minimize heat *** body temperature(DBT)has been shown in the literature to be a strong indicator of heat stress,therefore studies are needed that help us gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between this variable and environmental *** aim of this study was to identify the order of the dynamic response of poultry DBT to large step changes in ambient temperature(AT).Temperature steps had to be big enough to take the chickens out of their homeothermic zone.A total of 46 DBT/AT data sets with 23 upward AT steps and 23 downward AT steps were obtained using a biotelemetry system,and involving three *** responses of individual chickens to step changes in AT were found to have a 0.88 average Pearson correlation suggesting consistency in chickens’responses to the same stimuli(presponses to AT followed a first order behavior in most cases with an average time constant of 1.6 h,and the curve fitting method was used to validate this *** was a 0.88 average correlation between DBT model and measured data(presults indicate statistical significance in the data used and the model derived from *** conclusion,it is reasonable to assume that the dynamic response of poultry DBT to large step changes in ambient temperature follows a first order *** further studies are needed to more fully derive the model,this study provided a stepping-stone towards gaining a better understanding of the relationship between DBT and AT,therefore taking us one step closer towards making optimal management and risk assessment decisions that are based on physiological needs of the c

Envita’s Precision Cancer Care: 35-Fold Improvement in response rates

New clinical approaches are imperative beyond the widely adopted National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines, utilized by prominent cancer institutions. Cancer is the leading cause of death among individuals younger than 85 years within the United States. Despite significant technological advances, including the expenditure of hundreds of billions, treatment outcomes and overall survival have not notably improved for most types of advanced cancer over the last several decades. Over the past 24 years, Envita Medical Centers has pioneered a unique form of personalized treatment approach for late-stage and refractory cancer patients, introducing groundbreaking innovations in the field. Our integrated algorithm utilizes advanced genomics, transcriptomics, and highly tailored immunotherapy, resulting in remarkable outcome improvements. This study presents Envita’s innovative personalized treatment algorithms and examines the response outcomes of 199 late-stage cancer patients treated at Envita Medical Centers over a two-year period. Compared to standard of care and palliative chemotherapy, Envita’s treatment demonstrated a remarkable 35-fold improvement in overall response rates (Figure 1). Moreover, 88% of the patients, the majority presenting with Stage 3 or 4 cancer, experienced a 43-fold improvement in quality of life with minimal side effects, as compared to standard of care chemotherapy and palliative care. This revolutionary success is attributed to Envita’s personalized therapeutic algorithms, which incorporate customized immunotherapy. Envita’s precision care approach has also achieved a 100% better response rate compared to over 65 global chemotherapy clinical trials with more than 2700 patients. The results from this study suggest that a wider utilization of Envita’s personalized approach can significantly benefit patients with late-stage and refractory cancer.
