Role of gut microbiota in Crohn’s disease pathogenesis:Insights from fecal microbiota transplantation in mouse model

The effect of jiangan Xiaozhi Formula on oxidative stress and inflammatory factors in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease

Objective:To investigate the effects of jiangan Xiaozhi Formula(JGXZ)on oxidative stress and inflammatory factors in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).Methods:Between September 2022 and December 2023,our hospital admitted a total of 58 patients with *** patients were split into two groups at random:one for experimentation and the other for *** were 27 patients in the experimental group at the end,compared to 26 in the control group,reasonable exercise,weight management,lipid regulation,and oral polyene phosphatidylcholine capsules(PPC).The experimental group received JGXZ in addition to the above treatments for 12 consecutive *** in Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)syndrome scores,blood lipids,liver function indicators,the levels of oxidative stress markers,such as malondialdehyde(MDA),glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px),and superoxide dismutase(SOD),as well as serum inflammatory factors,such as interleukin-6(IL-6),interleukin-8(IL-8),and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),were measured both before and after ***:After treatment,both groups showed significant reductions in TCM syndrome scores(P<0.05)and improvements in blood lipids,liver function indicators,inflammatory factors,and oxidative stress markers(P<0.05).Improvements were noticeably better in the experimental group than in the control group.(P<0.05).Conclusion:JGXZ can significantly improve clinical symptoms,regulate blood lipids,and protect liver function in patients with *** mechanism may be related to inhibiting inflammatory responses and regulating the balance of the oxidation-antioxidation system.

BACKGROUND Gastric cancer(GC)is the fifth most common and the fourth most lethal malignant tumour in the *** patients are already in the advanced stage when they are diagnosed,which also leads to poor overall *** effect of posto-perative adjuvant chemotherapy for advanced GC is unsatisfactory with a high rate of distant metastasis and local *** To investigate the safety and efficacy of a programmed cell death 1(PD-1)inhibitor combined with oxaliplatin and S-1(SOX)in the treatment of Borrmann large type III and IV *** A retrospective analysis(IRB-2022-371)was performed on 89 patients with Borrmann large type III and IV GCs who received neoadjuvant therapy(NAT)from January 2020 to December *** to the different neoadjuvant treatment regimens,the patients were divided into the SOX group(61 patients)and the PD-1+SOX(P-SOX)group(28 patients).RESULTS The pathological response(tumor regression grade 0/1)in the P-SOX group was significantly higher than that in the SOX group(42.86%vs 18.03%,P=0.013).The incidence of ypN0 in the P-SOX group was higher than that in the SOX group(39.29%vs 19.67%,P=0.05).The use of PD-1 inhibitors was an independent factor affecting tumor regression ***,the use of PD-1 did not increase postoperative complications or the adverse effects of *** A PD-1 inhibitor combined with SOX could significantly improve the rate of tumour regression during NAT for patients with Borrmann large type III and IV GCs.

Maternal High-Fat Diet Impairs Offspring Glucose Metabolism and Programs Hepatic DNA Methylation Linked to NK Cell-Mediated Cytotoxicity Signaling Pathway at Weaning

Maternal consumption of a high-fat diet has been linked to increased risks of obesity and impaired glucose metabolism in offspring. However， the precise epigenetic mechanisms governing these intergenerational effects， particularly during the early stages of offspring development， remain poorly understood. In this study， female C57BL/6J mice were randomly assigned to either a high-fat diet or normal chow diet throughout gestation and lactation. Methylated DNA immunoprecipitation (MeDIP) coupled with microarray analysis was employed to identify differentially methylated genes in the livers of offspring at weaning age. We found that maternal high-fat diet feeding predisposes offspring to obesity and impaired glucose metabolism as early as the weaning period. DNA methylation profile analysis unveiled a significant enrichment of differentially methylated genes within the natural killer (NK) cell-mediated cytotoxicity pathway. MeDIP-PCR validated reduced methylation levels of specific genes within this pathway， including TNFα， PI3K， and SHC1. Consistently， the expressions of TNFα， PI3K， and SHC1 were significantly upregulated， accompanied by elevated serum TNFα and IL-6 levels in offspring from dams fed with high-fat diet. Moreover， we assessed the expressions of genes associated with NK cell activities， uncovering a notable rise in hepatic granzyme B levels and a trend towards increased CD107a expression in offspring from dams fed a high-fat diet. In addition， methylation levels of TNFα， PI3K， and SHC1 promoters were inversely correlated with glucose response during glucose tolerance testing. In conclusion， our findings underscore the critical role of the NK cell-mediated cytotoxicity signaling pathway in mediating DNA methylation patterns， thereby contributing to the programming effects of maternal high-fat diet consumption on offspring glucose metabolism as early as the weaning period.

Clinical characteristics of patients with early gastric prematurity cancer and analysis of complications by endoscopic resection

Ionic liquid driven nanostructure self-assembly in organic mixed ionic-electronic conductors

As a type of three-terminal transistor, organic electrochemical transistors(OECTs) can effectively modulate their channel conductivity through ionic electrochemical doping across gate-electrolyte-channel routes, endowing their versatile applications in bioelectronics, low power logic circuit, and neuromorphic computing [1]. In the concrete,free cations/anions in aqueous electrolytes driven by gate voltage can effectively penetrate into the bulk channel, then resulting in the volumetric n/p-doping of channel semiconductors. Notably, the film thickness of the channel also involves the modulation of OECT performance owing to the polymer swelling and ion penetration, which is hardly occurred in other transistors working in field-effect mode.
