Background Acute diarrhea with fever can potentially represent a more severe form of the disease compared to non-febrile diarrhea. This study was to investigate the epidemiological characteristics and enteric pathogen composition of febrile-diarrheal patients, and to explore factors including pathogens associated with fever by age *** A nationwide surveillance study of acute diarrheal patients of all ages was conducted in 217 sentinel hospitals from 31 provinces (autonomous regions or municipalities) in China between 2011 and 2020. Seventeen diarrhea-related pathogens, including seven viruses and ten bacteria, were investigated and their association with occurrence of fever symptoms was assessed using multivariate logistic *** A total of 146,296 patients with acute diarrhea (18.6% with fever) were tested. Th diarrheal children below 5 years had the highest frequency of fever (24.2%), and related to significantly higher prevalence of viral enteropathogens (40.2%) as compared with other age groups (P < 0.001). Within each age group, the febrile-diarrheal patients were associated with a significantly higher prevalence of bacterial pathogens than afebrile-diarrheal patients (allP < 0.01). There was discrepancy when each pathogen was compared, i.e., nontyphoidalSalmonella (NTS) was over-represented in febrile vs non-febrile patients of all age groups, while the febrile vs non-febrile difference for diarrheagenicEscherichia coli (DEC) was only significant for adult groups. The multivariate analysis revealed significant association between fever and infection with rotavirus A among children [odds ratio (OR) = 1.60], for DEC in adult groups (OR = 1.64), for NTS in both children (OR = 2.95) and adults (OR = 3.59).Conclusions There are significant discrepancy of the infected enteric pathogens in patients with acute diarrhea with fever between age groups, and it is valuable for priority detection of NTS and rotavirus A in patients with children < 5 years

Automatic generation of optical initial configuration based on Delano diagram

This paper presents a method to automatically initialize an optical system based on the Delano diagram. The process to generate the optical initial configuration is constrained by the control points, which are deduced from parameters related to basic design requirements. We present the theory and method to generate the optical initial configuration automatically when the basic design requirements are known. Two optical systems are taken as examples to demonstrate the proposed method.

Percutaneous left ventricular assist device vs. intra-aortic balloon pump in patients with severe left ventricular dysfunction undergoing cardiovascular intervention: A meta-analysis

Objective: Although controversial, the intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) and percutaneous left ventricular assist device (PLVAD) are widely used for initial hemodynamic stabilization. We performed a meta-analysis to compare the clinical outcomes of these two devices in patients with severe left ventricular (LV) dysfunction undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) or ventricular tachycardia (VT) ***: MEDLINE, EMBASE, the Cochrane Registry of Controlled Trials, and reference lists of relevant articles were searched. We included randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and prospective observational studies. Meta-analysis was conducted using a random effects ***: The quantitative analysis included 4 RCTs and 2 observational studies. A total of 348 patients received PLVAD and 340 received IABP. Meta-analysis revealed that early mortality rates (in-hospital or 30-day) did not differ between the PLVAD and IABP groups (relative risk (RR) = 1.03, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 0.70-1.51,P = 0.89). Significant differences were observed between the two groups in the composite, in-hospital, non-major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events (MACCE) rate (RR = 1.30, 95%CI = 1.01-1.68,P = 0.04).Conclusions: Compared with IABP, PLVAD with active circulatory support did not improve early survival in those with severe left ventricular dysfunction undergoing either PCI or VT ablation, but increased the in-hospital non-MACCE rate.

Characterization and performance of V2Os/CeO2 for NH3-SCR of NO at low temperatures

A series of CeO supported V O catalysts with various loadings were prepared with different calcination temperatures by the incipient impregnation. The catalysts were evaluated for low temperature selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NO with ammonia (NH ). The effects of O and SO on catalytic activity were also studied. The catalysts were characterized by specific surface areas (S ) and X–ray diffraction (XRD) methods. The experimental results showed that NO conversion changed significantly with the different V O loading and calcination temperature. With the V O loading increasing from 0 to 10 wt%, NO conversion increased significantly, but decreased at higher loading. The optimum calcination temperature was 400°C. The best catalyst yielded above 80% NO conversion in the reaction temperature range of 160°C–300°C. The formation of CeVO on the surface of catalysts caused the decrease of redox ability.

Further insights on the secondary metabolites of a soft coral-derived fungus Aspergillus versicolor under the guidance of MS/MS-based molecular networking led to the isolation of seven known cycloheptapeptides,namely,asperversiamides A–C(1–3)and asperheptatides A–D(4–7)and an unusual pyrroloindoline-containing new cycloheptapeptide,asperpyrroindotide A(8).The structure of 8 was elucidated by comprehensive spectroscopic data analysis,and its absolute configuration was determined by advanced Marfey’s *** semisynthetic transformation of 1 into 8 was successfully achieved and the reaction conditions were ***,a series of new derivatives(10−19)of asperversiamide A(1)was semi-synthesized and their anti-tubercular activities were evaluated against Mycobacterium tuberculosis *** preliminary structure−activity relationships revealed that the serine hydroxy groups and the tryptophan residue are important to the activity.

The synergistic effect of triple ion beams is investigated by simultaneous and scquential irradiations of gold, hydrogen and helium ions on the low activation martensitie steel （CLAM） developed in China. The depth profile measurements of the positron annihilation Doppler broadening S parameter are carried out as a function of slow- positron beam energy to examine the produced radiation damage. The synergistic effect of displacement damage and hydrogen and helium on the formation of radiation damage is clearly observed. In the preset case ,this effect suppresses the radiation damage in the CLAM steel due to the helium and/or hydrogen filling of vacancy clusters.
