Prostate cancer(PCa)is the most commonly diagnosed genital cancer in men *** 80%of the patients who developed advanced PCa suffered from bone metastasis,with a sharp drop in the survival *** great efforts,the detailed mechanisms underlying castration-resistant PCa(CRPC)remain *** 5(SIRT5),an NAD+-dependent desuccinylase,is hypothesized to be a key regulator of various ***,compared to other SIRTs,the role of SIRT5 in cancer has not been extensively ***,we revealed significantly decreased SIRT5 levels in aggressive PCa cells relative to the PCa *** correlation between the decrease in the SIRT5 level and the patient’s reduced survival rate was also *** quantitative global succinylome analysis,we characterized a significant increase in the succinylation at lysine 118(K118su)of lactate dehydrogenase A(LDHA),which plays a role in increasing LDH *** a substrate of SIRT5,LDHA-K118su significantly increased the migration and invasion of PCa cells and LDH activity in PCa *** study reveals the reduction of SIRT5 protein expression and LDHA-K118su as a novel mechanism involved in PCa progression,which could serve as a new target to prevent CPRC progression for PCa treatment.

The 5-year functional outcomes after radical prostatectomy： a real-life experience in Korea

We investigated the functional outcomes regarding erectile function and urinary continence up to 5 years following radical prostatectomy （RP） in a cohort of Korean men. We retrospectively analyzed the clinicopathologic data of 85 Korean men who received open uni- or bilateral nerve-sparing RP for clinically localized prostate cancer and were followed up for at least 5 years postoperatively. From medical records, patients＇ status regarding urinary and erectile function at baseline and postoperative followups after RP was assessed. At 24 and 60 months after RP, proportions of subjects continent （no pads used） were 89.4% and 97.6%, respectively （P = 0.007）. Excluding subjects （n = 24） who preoperatively reported having severe erectile dysfunction or lacked relevant informations, proportions of subjects capable of having vaginal intercourse regardless of erectile aid usage were 47.5% and 37.7% at 24 and 60 months from RP, respectively （P = 0.022）. Patient＇s age at surgery （P = 0.047） and salvage radiation therapy （P = 0.026） were observed to be significant predictors of having erections sufficient for intercourse at 60 months from RP in multivariate analysis. Our results showed that while patients＇ postoperative status regarding urinary continence at 2 years from RP is generally maintained or improved at 5 year point, erectile function was observed to significantly declined from 2 years to 5 years following RP. Such decline in erectile function following RP may be more significant among men who were relatively older at surgery or those who received salvage therapy during postoperative follow-ups.

Objective:To evaluate the anti-hyperglycemic potential of sinigrin using in *** silico and in riro streptozotocin(STZ) induced hyperglycemic zebrafish ***:The in vitro enzyme inhibition assay was carried out to determine the IC_(50) value against α-glucosidase and α-*** silico molecular docking was performed against both enzymes with PyRx tool and simulations were performed using GROMACS *** was induced in zebrafishes using three intraperitoneal injections on alternating days for one week at 350mg/kg of *** fishes were treated intraperitoncally with 50.100 and 150 mg of sinigrin/kg of body weight for 24 h and glucose levels were ***:The sinigrin showed very strong inhibition against α-glucosidase and α-amylase with 0.248 and0.00124 μM while reference drug acarbose showed IC_(50) value of 73.0700 and 0.0017 μM against α-glucosidase and α-amylase,*** analysis revealed that sinigrin has the mixed type mode of inhibition against α-*** docking results revealed its strong binding affinity with α-glucosidase(-10.00 Kcal/mol) and α-amylase(-8.10 Kcal/mol).Simulations graphs confirmed its stability against both *** hyperglycemic zebrafishes most significant(P<0.001) reduction of glucose was occurred at150 mg/*** significant reduction of glucose was observed at 100 mg/kg and no any significant reduction of glucose was measured at 50 mg/***:It can be evident from the present results that sinigrin has potent anti-hyperglycemic activity and it may prove to be effective treatment for the hyperglycemia.

Duodenal duplication cysts are benign rare congenital anomalies reported mainly in the pediatric population,but seldom in *** depend on the type and location and can present as abdominal pain,distension,dysphagia or *** have been reported to be responsible for duodenal obstruction,pancreatitis and,in rare cases,gastrointestinal *** present a case of a duodenal duplication cyst in a 43-year-old man presenting as *** gastroduodenoscopy and colonoscopy did not reveal any bleeding ***,the patient began passing melena after 3 d,with an acute decrease in hemoglobin *** studies revealed a duplication cyst in the second portion of the duodenum which was surgically *** revealed a duodenal duplication cyst consisting of intestinal *** was no further bleeding and the patient recovered *** rare cases,duodenal duplication cysts might cause gastrointestinal bleeding and should be included in the differential diagnosis.

Comparison of brush and basket cytology in differential diagnosis of bile duct stricture at endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography

BACKGROUND： A previous report has identified a significantly higher sensitivity of cancer detection for dedicated grasping basket than brushing at endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreato- graphy （ERCP）. This study aimed to compare the diagnostic accuracy of Geenen brush and Dormia basket cytology in the differential diagnosis of bile duct stricture. METHOD： The current study enrolled one hundred and fourteen patients who underwent ERCP with both Geenen brush and Dormia basket cytology for the differential diagnosis of bile duct stricture at our institution between January 2008 and December 2012. RESULTS： We adopted sequential performances of cytologic samplings by using initial Geenen brush and subsequent Dormia basket cytology in 59 patients and initial Dormia basket and subsequent Geenen brush cytology in 55 patients. Presampling balloon dilatations and biliary stentings for the stricture were performed in 17 （14.9%） and 107 patients （93.9%）, respectively. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and accuracy of Geenen brush cytology for the diagnosis of malignant bile duct stricture were 75.0%, 100.0%, 100.0%, 66.7% and 83.3%, respectively, and those of Dormia basket cytology were 64.5%, 100.0%, 100.0%, 58.5% and 76.3%, respectively （P=0.347 and 0.827 for sensitivity and accuracy, respectively）. The good and excellent cellular yields （≥grade 2） were obtained by Geenen brush and Dormia basket cytology in 88 （77.2%） and 79 （69.3%） patients, ***： The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of biliary sampling with a Dormia basket are comparable to those with conventional Geenen brush cytology in the detection of malignant bile duct stricture.

Serum measurements of testosterone, insulin-like growth factor 1, and insulin-like growth factor binding protein-3 in the diagnosis of prostate cancer among Korean men

Aim： To investigate the relationships of serum testosterone, insulin-like growth factor （IGF）- 1 and IGF-binding protein （IGFBP）-3 levels with prostate cancer risk and also with known prognostic parameters of prostate cancer in Korean men who received radical retropubic prostatectomy （RRP） for clinically-localized prostate cancer. Methods： Serum levels of total testosterone, free testosterone, IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 were determined in 592 patients who subsequently received prostate biopsy. Results were compared between patients who eventually received RRP for prostate cancer （n = 159） and those who were not diagnosed with prostate cancer from biopsy （control group, n = 433）. Among the prostate cancer only patients, serum hormonal levels obtained were analyzed in relation to serum prostate specific antigen （PSA）, pathological T stage and pathological Gleason score. Results： Prostate cancer patients and the control group demon- strated no significant differences regarding serum levels of total testosterone, free testosterone, IGF-I and IGFBP-3 across the different age groups. Among the cancer only patients, no significant associations were observed for serum levels of total testosterone, free testosterone, IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 levels with pathological T stage, pathological Oleason score and preoperative PSA. Conclusion： Our data indicate that simple quantifications of serum testosterone and IGF-1 along with IGFBP-3 levels might not provide useful clinical information in the diagnosis of clinically localized prostate cancer in Korean men. Also, our results suggest that serum levels of testosterone, IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 might not be significantly associated with known prognostic factors of clinically localized prostate cancer in Korean men. （Asian J Androl 2008 Mar; 10： 207-213）

Lithium-sulfur batteries(LSBs)have drawn significant attention owing to their high theoretical discharge capacity and energy ***,the dissolution of long-chain polysulfides into the electrolyte during the charge and discharge process(“shuttle effect”)results in fast capacity fading and inferior electrochemical *** this study,Mn_(2)O_(3)with an ordered mesoporous structure(OM-Mn_(2)O_(3))was designed as a cathode host for LSBs via kiT-6 hard templating,to effectively inhibit the polysulfide shuttle ***-Mn_(2)O_(3)offers numerous pores to confine sulfur and tightly anchor the dissolved polysulfides through the combined effects of strong polar-polar interactions,polysulfides,and sulfur chain *** OM-Mn_(2)O_(3)/S composite electrode delivered a discharge capacity of 561 mAh g^(-1) after 250 cycles at 0.5 C owing to the excellent performance of OM-Mn_(2)O_(3).Furthermore,it retained a discharge capacity of 628mA h g^(-1) even at a rate of 2 C,which was significantly higher than that of a pristine sulfur electrode(206mA h g^(-1)).These findings provide a prospective strategy for designing cathode materials for high-performance LSBs.

Determination of reference intervals for metabolic profile of Hanwoo cows at early, middle and late gestation periods

Background： Metabolic profile was initially designed as a presymptomatic diagnostic aid based on statistical analyses of blood metabolites to provide an early warning of certain types of metabolic disorder. However, there is little metabolic profile data available about Korean Hanwoo cows. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the reference intervals of metabolic profile for Korean Hanwoo cows. Methods： Healthy animals （2,205） were selected and divided into early （day 1 to 95）, middle （day 96 to 190） and late （day 191 to 285） period according to their gestating period. Metabolic profile including total protein （TP）, albumin （AIb）, urea （UREA）, glucose （Glu）, total cholesterol （T-Cho）, long-chain fatty acid （LCFA）, aspartate aminotransferase （AST）, gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase （GGT）, creatinine （Crea）, calcium （Ca）, inorganic phosphorous （iP） and magnesium （Mg） were analyzed using a TBA-4OFR automatic biochemical analyzer. The data of Korean Hanwoo cows were then compared to those of the Japanese Wagyu cows. Results： Most of the data of the Korean Hanwoo cows were relatively higher than those of Japanese Wagyu cows, with the exception of Glu and GGT. This may indicate that the nutritional level of feed for the Korean Hanwoo cows was higher than that of the Japanese Wagyu cows because of the different feeding system. In particular, relatively higher levels of UREA and LCFA were observed in the Korean Hanwoo cows, and this may also contribute to the low reproduction efficiency. Conclusions： These findings may provide some theoretical basis for understanding the reproductive and feeding situation of Korean Hanwoo cows.

Synthesis of shape-controlled Pt nanocrystals is substantial and important for enhancing chemical and electrochemical ***,the removal of capping agents,shape-controlling chemicals,on Pt surfaces is essential prior to conducting the catalytic *** we report a facile one-pot synthesis of Pt nanocubes directly grown on carbon supports(Pt nanocubes/C) with modulating the kinetic reaction factors for shaping the nanocrystals,but without adding any capping agents for preserving the clean Pt ***-dispersed Pt nanocubes/C shows enhanced activity and long-term stability toward methanol oxidation reaction compared to the commercial Pt/C catalyst.
