HPTLC-MS: an advance approach in herbal drugs using fingerprint spectra and mass spectroscopy

High-performance thin-layer chromatography-mass spectrometry(HPTLC-MS)is one of the most modern hyphenated analytical methods available ***-MS has recently been used to perform extensive analytical work using advanced features and still more analyses are in progress using these advanced *** medicines contain a wide range of bioactives that require proper identification for the activity and quality ***,herbal medicine identification and quality control have become increasingly popular using high-performance liquid chromatography mass *** aim of this paper is to provide a brief overview of recent method developments in analysis,15 most significant herbal drug applications with their chromatographic conditions,pharmacological actions,and solvents used in the present *** extensive literature search was performed incorporating several databases,notably,Web of Knowledge,PubMed and Google Scholar,and other relevant published *** previous research,HPTLC and its hyphenation with MS allowed for quantification of analytes in complex matrixes at nanogram and picogram *** a wide variety of analytes using these techniques has been extremely accurate,selective,and *** this review,the HPTLC-MS technique is discussed in relation to the quality control of herbal ***,15 herbal drugs were identified based on their RF values and m/z ratio by mass spectrometry by HPTLC-MS for the first *** this compilation,researchers can gain insights into HPTLC-MS techniques for resolving quality control issues with herbal drugs using their fingerprint ***,the application of HPTLC-MS methods could to be sufficiently precise and reproducible for established conditions and after validation may be used for routine quality control of herbal drugs/formulations in herbal industries.

Glass-ceramics owing to a combination of useful properties such as tuneable thermal expansion coefficient(TEC),good mechanical durability and chemical inertness find widespread uses in a variety of applications including seals and ***-ceramic-to-metal seals have been fabricated with various silicate,phosphate and borate based oxide glasses depending upon the intended *** this article,we review our studies on various glass and glass-ceramics materials development with a view to understand bonding behaviour with metals/alloys at ambient and high temperatures through a comprehensive structure property correlation *** studies on BaO-CaO-Al2O3-B2O3-SiO2(BCABS),barium strontium alumino-silicate,and strontium alumino-silicate with different additives(like Nd2O3,La2O3,NiO,TiO2,V2O5,ZrO2,Cr2O3,and P2O5)and barium/strontiun zinc silicate(B/SZS)glass-ceramics for high temperature *** shall illustrate the role of various thermo-physical and structural characterization techniques that allowed optimum selection of materials and processing *** particularly highlight the complementary role of NMR and XRD in studying the material at the short range and long range length scales.

The purpose of the present study is to document traditional knowledge of the wild edible mushrooms of Himachal ***-mycological data was recorded from different regions of the state,viz.,Barot,Kangra,Shimla,Solan,Sirmaur,Mandi,Kullu,and Gaddi inhabitant regions of Chamba district in Himachal Pradesh,*** local inhabitants of the region collect these mushrooms from the *** members of families and local bodies teach the younger generation about edible and poisonous wild mushrooms,as well as their distribution patterns in *** majority of the collected wild edible mushrooms are consumed *** this paper,we have presented the traditional knowledge about collection,identification,and documentation as per the knowledge available among indigenous people.

Effect of anaesthesia on the perioperative outcomes of pelvi-acetabular fracture surgeries in the apex trauma centre of a developing country–a retrospective analysis

Background:Regional anaesthesia has been proposed to reduce intraoperative blood loss,duration of hospital stay and in-hospital complications with improved postoperative pain *** anaesthesia is advantageous for prolonged *** hypothesized that combined regional and general anaesthesia would offer advantages of both in pelvi-acetabular fracture ***:We identified 71 patients who underwent open reduction and internal fixation of pelvi-acetabular fractures from May 2012 to 2013 in our trauma *** excluded patients with incomplete records(n=4)and other injuries operated along(n=8).Hence,59 patients were divided into three groups:G group(general anaesthesia),R group(regional anaesthesia)and GR group(combined regional and general anaesthesia).Main outcome measurements studied were intraoperative blood loss,duration of hospital stay,duration of surgery and intraoperative and postoperative ***:No differences were obtained in between the groups in terms of age,gender,Injury Severity Score,number of comorbidities,or duration from injury to *** significant differences were found between the three groups for intraoperative blood loss,days of hospital stay and duration of *** and postoperative complications were also comparable between the groups(p>0.05).Conclusions:There is no specific significant advantage of the technique of anaesthesia on the observed perioperative complications in pelvi-acetabular fracture surgeries.

Central Sensitization of HPA Axis in Modulation of Neuropathic Pain in Diabetic Rats

The present study was designed to investigate the possible role ofHPA （hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal） axis in neuropathic pain in streptozotocin induced diabetic rats. Wistar albino rats of either sex weighing 180-220 g （n = 6） were employed. Diabetes was induced by administering STZ （streptozotocin）（45 mg/kg, i.p.） once. Neuropathy was induced by the ligation of sciatic nerve in diabetic animals. A glucocorticoid receptor antagonist： ketoconazole 175 mg/kg, p.o. and glucocorticoid receptor agonist： hydrocortisone 1 mg/kg, i.p. were given. Assessment of neuropathic pain was achieved using hot plate and hot immersion tests. Tissue biochemical： lipid peroxidation, NO and glutathione were estimated on 28th day spectrophotometrically. Plasma cortisol level was also estimated using HPLC （high performance liquid chromatography）. Sciatic nerve ligation to diabetic animals caused significant increase in nociceptive responses as hyperalgesia and allodynia, tissue lipid peroxidation and NO products, and decrease in GSH （glutathione） level, in comparison to SC （saline control）. Ketoconazole administration produced decreased pain responses as well as decrease in oxidative stress and inflammatory mediators. Administration of hydrocortisone resulted in suppression of HPA axis. The activation of HPA axis in diabetic animals resulted in significant pain response. This may be due to increased corticosterone level which in turn desensitizes HPA axis and decreased nociceptive response in diabetic animals observed.
