Analysis of electrocautery smoke released from the tissues frequently cut in orthopedic surgeries

BACKGROUND Electrosurgical smoke could be different by the device of cutting or the type of tissue that is being *** To analyze the electrocautery smoke released from the tissues that are frequently cut in orthopedic *** The released smoke from electrocautery of five different tissue types(meniscus,ligament,adipose,muscle,and synovium)of five patients who underwent total knee arthroplasty were collected and analyzed for volatile organic compounds(VOCs)and 27 candidate polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(n=25).Surgical smoke was produced with an electrocautery device for 4 *** None of the 27 evaluated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons compounds were detectable in electrocautery smoke collected from the surgical cutting of the different *** number and identity of detected VOCs were similar between the patients but not between tissue *** number of detected VOCs was the highest in synovial tissue(n=21)and the lowest in the meniscus and adipose tissue(n=12).The number of toxic and/or carcinogenic VOCs were the most in the muscle and meniscus tissues(Toluene,Ethylbenzene,and Styrene).No toxic and/or carcinogenic VOCs were identified in the ligament and adipose *** Meniscus and muscle tissue are associated with the highest number of toxic and/or carcinogenic ***,we recommend that surgeons avoiding the electrocautery of these tissues.

A P2P Approach to Routing in Hierarchical MANETs

We present an effective routing solution for the backbone of hierarchical MANETs. Our solution leverages the storage and retrieval mechanisms of a Distributed Hash Table (DHT) common to many (structured) P2P overlays. The DHT provides routing information in a decentralized fashion, while supporting different forms of node and network mobility. We split a flat network into clusters, each having a gateway who participates in a DHT overlay. These gateways interconnect the clusters in a backbone network. Two routing approaches for the backbone are explored: flooding and a new solution exploiting the storage and retrieval capabilities of a P2P overlay based on a DHT. We implement both approaches in a network simulator and thoroughly evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme using a range of static and mobile scenarios. We also compare our solution against flooding. The simulation results show that our solution, even in the presence of mobility, achieved well above 90% success rates and maintained very low and constant round trip times, unlike the flooding approach. Soccer League Competition Algorithm, a New Method for Solving Systems of Nonlinear Equations

This paper introduces Soccer League Competition (SLC) algorithm as a new optimization technique for solving nonlinear systems of equations. Fundamental ideas of the method are inspired from soccer leagues and based on the competitions among teams and players. Like other meta-heuristic methods, the proposed technique starts with an initial population. Population individuals called players are in two types: fixed players and substitutes that all together form some teams. The competition among teams to take the possession of the top ranked positions in the league table and the internal competitions between players in each team for personal improvements results in the convergence of population individuals to the global optimum. Results of applying the proposed algorithm in solving nonlinear systems of equations demonstrate that SLC converges to the answer more accurately and rapidly in comparison with other Meta-heuristic and Newton-type methods.

Bacteriophages and their applications in the diagnosis and treatment of hepatitis B virus infection

Hepatitis B virus(HBV) infection is a major global health challenge leading to serious disorders such as cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Currently, there exist various diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for HBV infection. However, prevalence and hazardous effects of chronic viral infection heighten the need to develop novel methodologies for the detection and treatment of this infection. Bacteriophages, viruses that specifically infect bacterial cells, with a long-established tradition in molecular biology and biotechnology have recently been introduced as novel tools for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of HBV infection. Bacteriophages, due to tremendous genetic flexibility, represent potential to undergo a huge variety of surface modifications. This property has been the rationale behind introduction of phage display concept. This powerful approach, together with combinatorial chemistry, has shaped the concept of phage display libraries with diverse applications for the detection and therapy of HBV infection. This review aims to offer an insightful overview of the potential of bacteriophages in the development of helpful prophylactic(vaccine design), diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for HBV infection thereby providing new perspec-tives to the growing field of bacteriophage researches directing towards HBV infection.

在航空航天供电系统中,随着变换器负载和电动机负载的不断增加,恒功率负载在用电设备中所占的比重越来越大。这种负载因内部闭环控制而呈现恒功率特性,是导致系统不稳定的主要原因之一。而应用于航空航天的独立电源变换系统,由于受到体积和重量的限制,对变换器的设计提出了更高的要求。本文提出一种基于前级电感电流的高频分量直接注入占空比的补偿方法,不仅可以减小供电系统中母线滤波电容尺寸,还能使因恒功率负载造成的不稳定现象得到抑制,提高系统稳定工作范围。以现代飞机直流供电系统中常见的Boost变换器为例,建立系统的状态空间模型,并利用Lyapunov间接法分析系统的稳定性,最后给出仿真及实验结果,验证了所提控制策略的正确性和可行性。结果表明,采用这种占空比补偿技术可在相同功率输出条件下,减少约8倍的母线滤波电容。

针对光伏发电系统输出电压低、功率不稳定、电压波动等电能质量问题,提出了一种二阶低通滤波器和高增益FIBC变换器的组合结构。为了解决滤波器和变换器级联可能造成的谐振现象,设计了一种可有效抑制谐振发生的稳定器,能够在不增加系统体积重量和功率损耗的前提下,抑制系统的振荡和波形畸变。首先建立了系统的数学模型,并利用Lyapunov第一法对系统的稳定性能进行分析,证明了该方法的可行性。仿真结果验证了所提控制策略和拓扑结构的正确性和有效性。

Formation mechanism of Al2O3/MoS2 nanocomposite coating by plasma electrolytic oxidation(PEO)

In this study,an Al2O3/MoS2 nanocomposite coating was created on an aluminum 1050 substrate using the plasma electrolytic oxidation *** zeta potential measurements showed that small MoS2 particles have negative potential and move toward the anode *** nanoparticles of MoS2 were found to have a zeta potential of-25 mV,which prevents suspension in the ***,to produce an Al2O3/MoS2 nanocomposite,one has to use the microparticles of *** X-ray diffraction analyses showed that the produced coatings containedα-Al2O3,γ-Al2O3,and MoS2,and that the size of MoS2 particles can be reduced to 30 *** was observed that prolonged suspension in the electrolyte results in an enhanced formation of an Al2O3/MoS2 *** the results,it was hypothesized that the mechanism of the formation of the Al2O3/MoS2 nanocomposite coating on the aluminum 1050 substrate is based on electrical energy discharge.

对可生物降解二元Mg-6Zn合金进行固溶处理,来评价获得的显微组织变化对合金降解速率的影响及其相关机理。在350°C条件下固溶处理6-48 h。采用光学显微镜、扫描电镜、能量色散X射线光谱仪和X射线衍射仪分析铸态和固溶处理后试样。在37°C的模拟体液中进行浸泡和电化学测试,评价其抗腐蚀性。为保证腐蚀测试的结果,对p H值进行测试。结果发现,大于24 h的固溶处理,金属间化合物相溶解于基体中,并产生了近单晶相组织。金属间化合物相的减少导致阴极区/阳极区比减小且腐蚀率降低。电化学和失重测试结果表明,延长固溶处理时间可提高合金的抗腐蚀性。经350°C固溶处理24 h后,铸态合金的抗腐蚀性提高了60%以上。另外,逐渐减少的金属间化合物相和伴随的低p H值上升,降低了腐蚀速率。对于Mg-Zn合金作为生物可降解移植材料的应用,固溶处理是一种可以提高腐蚀性的工艺。
