Background:This study sought to evaluate the risk factors for the development of colitis-associated neoplasia(CAN)in Chinese patients with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).Methods:IBD patients who developed CAN between 1999 and 2.16 were identified from eight medical *** addition to initial pathology evaluation,a CAN diagnosis was confirmed by two expert *** with CAN(n=2.)were compared with non-CAN controls(n=87).Matching was performed for gender and IBD type with a ratio of three controls to one ***:Of the 2. patients with CAN,8(2..6%)had colorectal cancer(CRC),2.(69.0%)had a final diagnosis of low-grade dysplasia and 1(3.4.)had high-grade *** analysis revealed that an older age at the time of IBD diagnosis and a longer IBD duration were independent risk factors for the development of CAN,with odds ratios of 1.09[95%confidence interval(CI):1.04.1.14.P4.95%CI:1.03–1.2.,P=0.013),*** between IBD patients with CRC and those with dysplasia indicated that the former were older at the time of IBD diagnosis(P=0.012.and had longer IBD durations(P=0.019).Conclusions:Older age at the time of IBD diagnosis and longer IBD duration were found to be associated with the development of CAN in IBD patients.

In the past 50 years, dramatic advances have been Lachieved in male infertility treatment. Intracytoplasmicsperm injection （ICSI） provides an effective manipulation for bypassing some severe etiologies of male fertility. However, some men may encounter difficulty in semen collection by masturbation on demand at the time of undergoing assisted reproductive technology （ART）. If a patient is unable to provide semen by masturbation, he has to undergo testicular sperm extraction （TESE） to collect spermatozoa for ICSI, which is expensive and invasive. Some men fail to obtain semen by masturbation because of temporary erectile dysfunction （ED）.

A real-time ion spectrometer mainly based on a high-resolution Thomson parabola and a plastic scintillator is designed and *** spectrometer is calibrated by protons from an electrostatic *** feasibility and reliability of the diagnostics are demonstrated in laser-driven ion acceleration experiments performed on the XL-II laser *** proton spectrum extrapolated from the scintillator data is in excellent agreement with the CR39 spectrum in terms of beam temperature and the cutoff *** real-time spectrometer allows an online measurement of the ion spectra in single shot,which enables efficient and statistical studies and applications in high-repetition-rate laser acceleration experiments.

Rational construction of carbon-based materials with high-efficiency bifunctionality and low cost as the substitute of precious metal catalyst shows a highly practical value for rechargeable Zn-air batteries(ZABs)yet it still remains ***,this study employs a simple mixing-calcination strategy to fabricate a high-performance bifunctional composite catalyst composed of N-doped graphitic carbon encapsulating Co nanoparticles(Co@NrC).Benefiting from the core-shell architectural and compositional advantages of favorable electronic configuration,more exposed active sites,sufficient electric conductivity,rich defects,and excellent charge transport,the optimal Co@NrC hybrid(Co@NrC-0.3)presents outstanding catalytic activity and stability toward oxygen-related electrochemical reactions(oxygen reduction and evolution reactions,i.e.,ORR and OER),with a low potential gap of 0.766 ***,the rechargeable liquid ZAB assembled with this hybrid electrocatalyst delivers a high peak power density of 168 mW cm^(−2.,a small initial discharge-charge potential gap of 0.4. V at 10 mA cm^(−2.,and a good rate ***,a relatively large power density of 108 mW cm^(−2. is also obtained with the Co@NrC-0.3-based flexible solid-state ZAB,which can well power LED *** work offers insights in developing excellent bifunctional electrocatalysts for both OER and ORR and highlights their potential applications in metal-air batteries and other energy-conversion/storage devices.

Clinical applications of MARSALA for preimplantation genetic diagnosis of spinal muscular atrophy

Conventional PCR methods combined with linkage analysis based on short tandem repeats （STRs） or Karyomapping with single nucleotide polymorphism （SNP） arrays, have been applied to preimplantation genetic diagnosis （PGD） for spinal muscular atrophy （SMA）, an autosome recessive disorder. However, it has limitations in SMA diagnosis by Karyomapping, and these methods are unable to distinguish wild- type embryos with carriers effectively. Mutated allele revealed by sequencing with aneuploidy and linkage analyses （MARSALA） is a new method allowing embryo selection by a one-step next-generation sequencing （NGS） procedure, which has been applied in PGD for both autosome dominant and X-linked diseases in our group previously. In this study, we carried out PGD based on MARSALA for two carrier families with SMA affected children. As a result, one of the couples has given birth to a healthy baby free of mutations in SMA-causing gene. It is the first time that MARSALA was applied to PGD for SMA, and we can distinguish the embryos with heterozygous deletion （carriers） from the wild-type （normal） ones accurately through this NGS-based method. In addition, direct mutation detection allows us to identify the affected embryos （homozygous deletion）, which can be regarded as probands for linkage analysis, in case that the affected family member is absent, In the future, the NGS-based MARSALA method is expected to be used in PGD for all monogenetic disorders with known pathogenic gene mutation.

A new and innovative detector system based on a silicon strip detector dedicated to the study of the reaction induced by lighter radioactive beams is described *** detector system consists of five sets of three types of telescopes,which are successfully used to measure the angular distributions of both elastic scattering and breakup simultaneously, on the Radioactive Ion Beam Line in Lanzhou at Heavy Ion Research Facility in Lanzhou. This silicon detector array is used to measure the elastic scattering angular distributions of ^(11) Be on a ^(2.8) Pb target at E_(lab) = 14. and 2.9 MeV. A comparison of the Monte Carlo simulations with the experimental results shows a reasonable consistency.

Corneal regeneration has always been a challenge due to its sophisticated structure and undesirable keratocyte-fibroblast transformation. Herein, we propose 3D printing of a biomimetic epithelium/stroma bilayer implant for corneal regeneration. Gelatin methacrylate (GelMA) and long-chain poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate (PEGDA) are blended to form a two-component ink, which can be printed to different mechanically robust programmed PEGDA-GelMA objects by Digital Light Processing (DLP) printing technology, due to the toughening effect of crystalline crosslinks from long-chain PEGDA on GelMA hydrogel after photo-initiated copolymerization. The printed PEGDA-GelMA hydrogels support cell adhesion, proliferation, migration, meanwhile demonstrating a high light transmittance, and an appropriate swelling degree, nutrient permeation and degradation rate. A bi-layer dome-shaped corneal scaffold consisting of rabbit corneal epithelial cells (rCECs)-laden epithelia layer and rabbit adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (rASCs)-laden orthogonally aligned fibrous stroma layer can be printed out with a high fidelity and robustly surgical handling ability. This bi-layer cells-laden corneal scaffold is applied in a rabbit keratoplasty model. The post-operative outcome reveals efficient sealing of corneal defects, re-epithelialization and stromal regeneration. The concerted effects of microstructure of 3D printed corneal scaffold and precisely located cells in epithelia and stroma layer provide an optimal topographical and biological microenvironment for corneal regeneration.
