The Chinese tree shrew(Tupaia belangeri chinensis)has emerged as a promising model for investigating adrenal steroid synthesis,but it is unclear whether the same cells produce steroid hormones and whether their production is regulated in the same way as in ***,we comprehensively mapped the cell types and pathways of steroid metabolism in the adrenal gland of Chinese tree shrews using single-cell RNA sequencing,spatial transcriptome analysis,mass spectrometry,and *** compared the transcriptomes of various adrenal cell types across tree shrews,humans,macaques,and *** showed that tree shrew adrenal glands expressed many of the same key enzymes for steroid synthesis as humans,including CYP11B2,CYP11B1,CYB5A,and *** analysis confirmed the production of aldosterone,cortisol,and dehydroepiandrosterone but not dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate in the tree shrew adrenal ***,genes in adrenal cell types in tree shrews were correlated with genetic risk factors for polycystic ovary syndrome,primary aldosteronism,hypertension,and related disorders in humans based on genome-wide association ***,this study suggests that the adrenal glands of Chinese tree shrews may consist of closely related cell populations with functional similarity to those of the human adrenal *** comprehensive results(publicly available at http://***:16245/scAGMap/)should facilitate the advancement of this animal model for the investigation of adrenal gland disorders.

The environmental stability of infectious viruses in the laboratory setting is crucial to the transmission potential of human respiratory *** experimental techniques or conditions used in studies over the past decades have led to diverse understandings and predictions for the stability of viral infectivity in the atmospheric *** this paper,we review the current knowledge on the effect of simulated atmospheric conditions on the infectivity of respiratory viruses,mainly focusing on influenza viruses and coronaviruses,including severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 and Middle East respiratory syndrome ***,we summarize the impact of the experimental conditions on viral stability;these involve the methods of viral aerosol generation,storage during aging and collection,the virus types and strains,the suspension matrixes,the initial inoculum volumes and concentrations,and the drying ***,we summarize and discuss the detection methods of viral infectivity and their ***,we integrate the results from the reviewed studies to obtain an overall understanding of the effects of atmospheric environmental conditions on the decay of infectious viruses,especially aerosolized ***,this review highlights the knowledge gaps in predicting the ability of viruses to maintain infectivity during airborne transmission.

Low-rank spectral estimation algorithm of learning Markov model

This paper proposes a low-rank spectral estimation algorithm of learning Markov ***,an approximate projection algorithm for the rank-constrained frequency matrix set is proposed,and thereafter its local Lipschitzian error bound ***,we propose a low-rank spectral estimation algorithm for estimating the state transition frequency matrix and the probability matrix of Markov model by applying the approximate projection algorithm to correct the maximum likelihood estimation of the frequency matrix,and prove that there is only a multiplying constant difference in estimation errors between the low-rank spectral estimation and the maximum likelihood estimation under appropriate ***,numerical comparisons with the prevailing maximum likelihood estimation,spectral estimation,and rank-constrained maxi-mum likelihood estimation show that the low-rank spectral estimation algorithm is effective.

Exploring precursor effect in in-situ reconstruction of bi metal organic-frameworks during CO_(2)electroreduction reaction to tailor formate selectivity towards 100%

bi-based metal-organic frameworks(bi-MOFs)as efficient catalysts for the CO_(2)electroreduction reaction(CRR)have been extensively *** has been established that bi-MOFs usually undergo in-situ transformation during the CRR,ultimately converting into bi ***,the effect of the MOF precursors on the structure of the derived bi catalysts and consequently on their electrocatalytic properties has not been clearly *** this work,we prepared four variants of a novel bi-MOF with different morphologies and dimensions,and explored the effects of the precursors on the resulting bi catalysts and their CRR performance.A precursor-dependent in-situ transformation and its profound impact on tuning the CO_(2)-formate FE towards~100%have been *** the four examined variants,bi-MOF with nanocube-like morphology(biMOF-NC)is transformed into thin and flat bi nanosheets capable of successfully enveloping the fibers of carbon paper(working electrode),while the other three variants with increased size and dodecahedral/octahedral geometry have been transformed into bi nanoflowers,exposing a fair portion of the carbon fibers in the working ***,the transformation rate was found to be dependent on the precursors and biMOF-NC exhibited the highest rate of reconstruction compared with other ***,the bi catalyst derived from biMOF-NC delivered a selectivity for the formate product of nearly 100%at-1.2 V(*** hydrogen electrode(RHE))and of over 95%in a wide potential range due to efficient suppression of the competing hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)over carbon *** in-situ transformed biMOFNC also demonstrated equivalently high formate selectivity at large current densities(≥100 mA cm^(-2))in flow cell reactors as that in H-type reactors,underscoring its potential for industrial *** work highlights the necessity of finely tuning the structural features of MOF precursors to achieve optim

Nomogram model including LATS2 expression was constructed to predict the prognosis of advanced gastric cancer after surgery

BACKGROUND Gastric cancer is a leading cause of cancer-related deaths *** assessments are typically based on the tumor-node-metastasis(TNM)staging system,which does not account for the molecular heterogeneity of this ***2,a tumor suppressor gene involved in the Hippo signaling pathway,has been identified as a potential prognostic biomarker in gastric *** To construct and validate a nomogram model that includes LATS2 expression to predict the survival prognosis of advanced gastric cancer patients following ra-dical surgery,and compare its predictive performance with traditional TNM *** A retrospective analysis of 245 advanced gastric cancer patients from the Fourth Hospital of Hebei Medical University was *** patients were divided into a training group(171 patients)and a validation group(74 patients)to deve-lop and test our prognostic *** performance of the model was determined using C-indices,receiver operating characteristic curves,calibration plots,and decision *** The model demonstrated a high predictive accuracy with C-indices of 0.829 in the training set and 0.862 in the validation *** under the curve values for three-year and five-year survival prediction were significantly robust,suggesting an excellent discrimination *** plots confirmed the high concordance between the predictions and actual survival *** We developed a nomogram model incorporating LATS2 expression,which significantly outperformed conven-tional TNM staging in predicting the prognosis of advanced gastric cancer patients *** model may serve as a valuable tool for individualized patient management,allowing for more accurate stratification and im-proved clinical *** validation in larger patient cohorts will be necessary to establish its generaliza-bility and clinical utility.

On the analytical soliton approximations to fractional forced Korteweg–de Vries equation arising in fluids and plasmas using two novel techniques

The current investigation examines the fractional forced Korteweg–de Vries(FF-KdV) equation,a critically significant evolution equation in various nonlinear branches of science. The equation in question and other associated equations are widely acknowledged for their broad applicability and potential for simulating a wide range of nonlinear phenomena in fluid physics, plasma physics, and various scientific domains. Consequently, the main goal of this study is to use the Yang homotopy perturbation method and the Yang transform decomposition method, along with the Caputo operator for analyzing the FF-KdV equation. The derived approximations are numerically examined and discussed. Our study will show that the two suggested methods are helpful, easy to use, and essential for looking at different nonlinear models that affect complex processes.

Alcohol solvent effect on the self-assembly behaviors of lignin oligomers

The interactions between lignin oligomers and solvents determine the behaviors of lignin oligomers self-assembling into uniform lignin nanoparticles(LNPs).Herein,several alcohol solvents,which readily interact with the lignin oligomers,were adopted to study their effects during solvent shifting process for LNPs’*** lignin oligomers with widely distributed molecular weight and abundant guaiacyl units were extracted from wood waste(mainly consists of pine wood),exerting outstanding self-assembly *** and spherical LNPs were generated in H_(2)O-n-propanol cosolvent,whereas irregular LNPs were obtained in H_(2)O-methanol *** unsatisfactory self-assembly performance of the lignin oligomers in H_(2)O-methanol cosolvent could be attributed to two *** one hand,for the initial dissolution state,the distinguishing Hansen solubility parameter and polarity between methanol solvent and lignin oligomers resulted in the poor dispersion of the lignin *** the other hand,strong hydrogen bonds between methanol solvent and lignin oligomers during solvent shifting process,hindered the interactions among the lignin oligomers for self-assembly.

Improving fatigue properties of normal direction ultrasonic vibration assisted face grinding Inconel 718 by regulating machined surface integrity

Fatigue properties are crucial for critical aero-engine components in extreme serviceenvironments,which are significantly affected by surface integrity(SI)indexes(especially surface topography,residual stressσ_(res),and microhardness)after machining ***-direction ultrasonic vibration-assisted face grinding(ND-UVAFG)has advantages in improving the machinability of Inconel 718,but there is a competitive relationship between higher compressiveσ_(res)and higher surface roughness R_(a)in affecting fatigue *** lack of a quantitative relationship between multiple SI indexes and fatigue strength makes theindeterminacy of a regulatory strategy for improving fatigue *** this work,a model of fatigue strength(σ_f)_(sur)considering multiple SI indexes was ***,high-cycle fatigue tests were carried out on Inconel 718 samples with different SI characteristics,and the influence of ND-UVAFG process parameters on SI was *** on SI indexes data,the(σ_f)_(sur)distribution in the grinding surface layer for ND-UVAFG Inconel 718 samples was determined using the developed model,and then the fatigue crack initiation(FCI)sites were *** predicted FCI sites corresponded well with the experimental results,therebyverifying this model.A strategy for improving the fatigue life was proposed in this work,which was to transfer the fatigue source from the machined surface to the bulk material by controlling the SI ***,a critical condition of SI indexes that FCI sites appeared on the surface or in bulk material was given by fitting the predicted *** to the critical condition,an SI field where FCI sites appeared in the bulk material could be *** this field,thefatigue life of Inconel 718 samples could be improved by approximately 140%.
