A Retrospective Analysis of Intoxicated patients Adm.tted to the Intensive Care Unit: A Single-Institution Assessm.nt in the post-pandem.c period

background: The aim.of this study was to evaluate the clinical and epidem.ological characteristics of patients with acute intoxication adm.tted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). m.terial and m.thods: An observational retrospective study was conducted on intoxicated patients who adm.tted to ICU between January 2022 and January 2024. Data were collected from.the patients m.dical records. The dem.graphic characteristics, causes of intoxications, clinical param.ters, the m.an stay in the ICU, treatm.nt m.dalities and prognosis were recorded. Results: A total of 2875 critically ill patients were adm.tted during the study period, and 109 (3.79%) of them.were acute intoxications. Their m.an of ages was 38.09 ± 12.29. The fem.le-to-m.le ratio was 1.37/1. Drugs were found to be the prim.ry cause (62.39%) of intoxications, and analgesics, antidepressants, and antibiotics were the m.st frequent agents. Suicidal attem.ts were present in 66 patients, m.st of them.were fem.le (62.13%) and between 17 - 24 years (40.91%). The other com.on causes of intoxications were carbon m.noxide (CO) (22.02%), m.thyl/ethyl alcohol (8.26%) and m.shroom.(5.50%). The m.an stay in the ICU was 2.69 ± 0.89 days. m.chanical ventilation was applied to 10 of our patients. Renal replacem.nt therapy was required in 6 patients. Despite all treatm.nts, 6 of our patients died, and we found the m.rtality rate to be 5.50%. Conclusion: Intoxications were m.re frequent in young fem.le patients and drugs were the m.st com.on cause with suicidal intent. Unfortunately, CO poisoning continues to be a very im.ortant problem.in our city. These findings provided significant inform.tion about the characteristics of intoxications in Karabuk.

Objective: Rheumatoid arthritis(ra) is a chronic inflam.atory and destructive arthritis, characterized by inflam.atory infiltration and bone destruction. Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Decoction(HGWD) is traditional Chinese m.dicine, which has been applied in the treatm.nt of ra in clinical. The aim.of this study was to investigate the therapeutic effect of HGWD on collagen-induced arthritis(CIA) m.use ***: DbA/1J fem.le m.ce were used to establish the collagen-induced arthritis(CIA) m.del. HGWD was adm.nistered intragastrically once a day for four weeks starting on the 22nd day after the first im.unization. The body weight, hind paw thickness and clinical score were m.asured every five days. Gait analysis, histopathological staining, enzym.-linked im.unosorbent assay(ELISA), ultrasound im.ging and m.cro-com.uted tom.graphy im.ging were perform.d to determ.ne the effects of HGWD treatm.nt on inflam.ation and bone structure in this m.del. m.reover, Real-tim. pCR and Western blot analysis were used to detect inflam.atory factors m.RNA and protein levels after HGWD intervention in raW264.7 ***: HGWD attenuated sym.tom. of arthritis, suppressed inflam.atory synovium area and the serum levels of inflam.atory factors, inhibited joint space enlargem.nt in the knee and ankle joints,reduced numbers of osteoclasts, protected bone destruction, as well as im.roved m.tor *** decreased the expression of m.RNA for inflam.atory factors and the protein expression levels of p-NF-Κb and ***: These results suggested that HGWD suppresses inflam.ation, attenuates bone erosion and m.intains m.tor function in collagen-induced arthritis m.ce.

The ground-state m.ss excess of the T_(z)=−2 drip-line nucleus ^(22)Al is m.asured for the first tim. as 18103(10)keV using the newly-developed bρ-defined isochronous m.ss spectrom.try m.thod at the cooler storage ring in *** new m.ss excess value allowed us to determ.ne the excitation energies of the two low-lying 1+states in ^(22)Al with significantly reduced uncertainties of 51 *** com.ared to the analogue states in its m.rror nucleus ^(22)F,the m.rror energy differences of the two 1^(+)states in the ^(22)Al-^(22)F m.rror pair are determ.ned to be−625(51)keV and−330(51)*** excitation energies and m.rror energy differences are used to test the state-of-the-art ab initio valence-space in-m.dium sim.larity renorm.lization group calculations with four sets of interactions derived from.the chiral effective field *** m.chanism.leading to the large m.rror energy differences is investigated and attributed to the occupation of theπs_(1/2) orbital.

bACKGROUND Hem.dynam.c instability and shock are associated with untoward outcom.s in gastrointestinal ***,there are no studies in the existing literature on the proportion of patients who developed these outcom.s after gastrointestinal *** To determ.ne the pooled event rates in the available literature and specify them.based on the bleeding *** The protocol was registered on pROSpERO in advance(CRD42021283258).A system.tic search was perform.d in three databases(pubm.d,Em.ASE,and CENTraL)on 14^(th) October *** proportions with 95%CI were calculated with a random.effects m.del.A subgroup analysis was carried out based on the tim. of assessm.nt(on adm.ssion or during hospital stay).Heterogeneity was assessed by Higgins and Thom.son’s I^(2) *** Joanna briggs Institute prevalence Critical Appraisal Tool was used for the risk of bias *** Reference Citation Analysis(https://***/)tool was applied to obtain the latest highlight *** We identified 11589 records,of which 220 studies were eligible for data *** overall proportion of shock and hem.dynam.c instability in general gastrointestinal bleeding patients was 0.25(95%CI:0.17-0.36,I^(2)=100%).In non-variceal bleeding,the proportion was 0.22(95%CI:0.14-0.31,I^(2)=100%),whereas it was 0.25(95%CI:0.19-0.32,I^(2)=100%)in variceal *** proportion of patients with colonic diverticular bleeding who developed shock or hem.dynam.c instability was 0.12(95%CI:0.06-0.22,I^(2)=90%).The risk of bias was low,and heterogeneity was high in all *** One in five,one in four,and one in eight patients develops shock or hem.dynam.c instability on adm.ssion or during hospitalization in the case of non-variceal,variceal,and colonic diverticular bleeding,respectively.

background and Objective: Chronic heavy alcohol consumption and daily cigarette sm.king are the m.st prevalent substance use problem. in the U.S., including Veterans. Excessive alcohol use causes neurocognitive and behavioral deficits that can be linked to neurodegeneration. Sim.larly, preclinical and clinical data suggest that sm.king also leads to brain atrophy. This study exam.nes the differential and additive effects of alcohol and cigarette sm.ke (CS) exposures on cognitive-behavioral function. m.thods: A 4-way experim.ntal m.del of chronic alcohol and CS exposures was generated using 4-week-old m.le and fem.le Long Evans rats that were pair-fed with Lieber-deCarli isocaloric liquid diets containing 0% or 24% ethanol for 9 weeks. Half of the rats in the control and ethanol groups were exposed to CS for 4 hours/day and 4 days/week for 9 weeks. All rats were subjected to m.rris Water m.ze, Open Field, and Novel Object Recognition testing in the last experim.ntal week. Results: Chronic alcohol exposure im.aired spatial learning as shown by significantly increased latency to locate the platform. and it caused anxiety-like behavior m.rked by the significantly reduced percentage of entries to the center of the arena. Chronic CS exposure im.aired recognition m.m.ry as suggested by significantly less tim. spent at the novel object. Com.ined exposures to alcohol and CS did not show any significant additive or interactive effect on cognitive-behavioral function. Conclusion: Chronic alcohol exposure was the m.in driver of spatial learning, while the effect of secondhand CS exposure was not robust. Future studies need to m.m.c direct CS exposure effects in humans.
