Energy balances are a general fundamental approach for analyzing the heat requirements for metallurgical *** formulation of heat balance equations was involved by computing the various components of heat going in and coming out of the oxygen steelmaking *** developed model was validated against the calculations of Healy and *** overall heat losses that have not been analyzed in previous studies were quantified by back-calculating heat loss from 35 industrial data provided by Tata *** results from the model infer that the heat losses range from 1.3%to 5.9%of the total heat input and it can be controlled by optimizing the silicon in hot metal,the amount of scrap added and the postcombustion *** model prediction shows that sensible heat available from the hot metal accounts for around 66%of total heat input and the rest from the exothermic oxidation *** of 34%of the heat from exothermic reactions,between 20%and 25%of heat is evolved from the oxidation of carbon to carbon monoxide and carbon *** model can be applied to predict the heat balance of any top blown oxygen steelmaking technology but needs further validation for a range of oxygen steelmaking operations and conditions.

bACkGROUND Chronic hepatitis b(CHb)virus infection is a major cause of liver-associated morbidity and mortality,particularly in low-income countries.A better understanding of the epidemiological,clinical,and virological characteristics of CHb will guide appropriate treatment strategies and improve the control and management of CHb in *** To investigate the characteristics of CHb in Eastern Ethiopia and assess the efficacy and safety of antiviral *** This cohort study included 193 adults who were human immunodeficiency virus-negative with CHb between June 2016 and December *** assessments included chemistry,serologic,and viral markers.χ^(2) tests,Mann-Whitney U tests,and logistic regression analyses were used to identify the determinants of *** disoproxil fumarate(TDF)was initiated using treatment criteria from the Ethiopian CHb pilot *** A total of 132 patients(68.4%)were men,with a median age of 30 years[interquartile range(IQR):24-38].At enrollment,60(31.1%)patients had cirrhosis,of whom 35(58.3%)had decompensated *** use,hepatitis b envelope antigen positivity,and a high viral load were independently associated with ***,66 patients(33.4%)fulfilled the treatment criteria and 59(30.6%)started *** 29 patients who completed 24 months of treatment,the median aspartate aminotransferase to platelet ratio index declined from 1.54(IQR:0.66-2.91)to 1.10(IQR:0.75-2.53)(P=0.002),and viral suppression was achieved in 80.9%and 100%of patients after 12 months and 24 months of treatment,*** the treated patients,12(20.3%)died within the first 6 months of treatment,of whom 8 had decompensated *** This study highlights the high prevalence of cirrhosis,initial mortality,and the efficacy of TDF *** up measures to prevent and control CHb infections in Ethiopia is crucial.

Rhombohedral phase Hf_(x)Zr_(1.x)O_(2)(HZO,x from 0 to 1)films are promising for achieving robust ferroelectric polarization without the need for an initial wake-up pre-cycling,as is normally the case for the more commonly studied orthorhombic ***,a large spontaneous polarization observed in rhombohedral films is not fully understood,and there are also large discrepancies between experimental and theoretical *** this work,in rhombohedral ZrO_(2)thin films,we show that oxygen vacancies are not only a key factor for stabilizing the phase,but they are also a source of ferroelectric polarization in the *** is shown experimentally through the investigation of the structural properties,chemical composition and the ferroelectric properties of the films before and after an annealing at moderate temperature(400℃)in an oxygen environment to reduce the V_(o)concentration *** experimental work is supported by density functional theory(DFT)calculations which show that the rhombohedral phase is the most stable one in highly oxygen defective ZrO_(2)*** DFT calculations also show that V_(o)contribute to the ferroelectric *** findings reveal the importance of V_(o)for stabilizing rhombohedral ZrO_(2)thin films with superior ferroelectric properties.

Chronic hepatitis b(CHb) is a major global health problem affecting an estimated 350 million people with more than 786000 individuals dying annually due to complications, such as cirrhosis, liver failure and hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). Liver transplantation(LT) is considered gold standard for treatment of hepatitis b virus(HbV)-related liver failure and HCC. However, post-transplant viral reactivation can be detrimental to allograft function, leading to poor survival. Prophylaxis with high-dose hepatitis b immunoglobulin(HbIG) and anti-viral drugs have achieved remarkable progress in LT by suppressingviral replication and improving long-term survival. The combination of lamivudine(LAM) plus HbIG has been for many years the most widely used. However, life-long HbIG use is both cumbersome and costly, whereas long-term use of LAM results in resistant virus. Recently, in an effort to develop HbIG-free protocols, high potency nucleos(t)ide analogues, such as Entecavir or Tenofovir, have been tried either as monotherapy or in combination with low-dose HbIG with excellent results. Current focus is on novel antiviral targets, especially for covalently closed circular DNA(ccc DNA), in an effort to eradicate HbV infection instead of viral suppression. However, there are several other molecular mechanisms through which HbV may reactivate and need equal attention. The purpose of this review is to address post-LT HbV reactivation, its risk factors, underlying molecular mechanisms, and recent advancements and future of anti-viral therapy.

Monitoring temporal changes in sea level is important in assessing coastal *** level anomalies at a tide gauge station,if kinematically conceived,include systematic variations such as trend,acceleration,periodic oscillations,and random *** them,the non-stationary nature of the random sea level variations of known or unknown origin at coastal regions has been long recognized by the sea level *** study proposes the analyses of subgroups of random residual statistics of a rigorously formulated kinematic model solution of tide gauge variations using X-bar and S control *** approach is demonstrated using key West,Florida tide gauge *** mean and standard errors of 5-year-long subgroups of the residuals revealed that sea level changes at this location have been progressively intensifying from 1913 to the *** oscillations in sea level at this locality may be attributed partly to the thermal expansion of seawater with increasing temperatures causing larger buoyancy-related sea level fluctuations as well as the intensification of atmospheric events including wind patterns and the impact of changes in inverted barometer effects that will alter coastal risk assessments for the future.
