Copper interactions with DNA of chromatin and its role in neurodegenerative disorders

In this study, we have demonstrated the conformational changes to DNA induced by abnormal interactions of copper using circular dichroism, in combination with UV-absorbance and fluorescence spectroscopy. Results confirm that binding of copper to bases of DNA in chromatin is concentration dependent. binding efficiency of Cu2~ ions to DNA is increased in proportion to the degree of unwinding of the double helix induced by denaturation. Altered b-DNA conformation will alter the integrity of DNA which may affect the normal process of DNA replication and transcription. Copper induced DNA damage in the brain may cause neurotoxicity and the neuronal cell death and is implicated in Alzheimer＇s disease and other neurological disorders.

Introduction:Regional anaesthesia combined with general anaesthesia reduces stress response to surgery, duration of ventilation, intensive care unit (ICU) stay and promotes early recovery. Studies on thoracic epidural, caudal analgesia along with general anaesthesia (GA) in paediatric cardiac surgery are limited hence we aimed to compare efficacy and safety of caudal, thoracic epidural and intravenous analgesia in paediatric cardiac surgery. b>Methodology: b>This study was conducted in the Department of Anaesthesiology in a tertiary care teaching hospital in southern India from February 2019 to December 2019. 90 children were randomised into group A, group B, group C. Children in group A received caudal analgesia along with GA. Group B children received thoracic epidural along with GA. Group C patients received intravenous analgesia along with GA. Rescue analgesia 1 mcg/kg fentanyl given in all 3 groups if pain score is more than 4. Primary outcome assessed was post-op pain scores. Secondary outcome assessed was duration of ventilation, duration of intensive care unit stay. b>Results:b> All patients were comparable in terms of age, sex, weight, mean RACHS score, baseline heart

Members of the family Chaetomiaceae are ubiquitous ascosporulating fungi commonly,which reside in soil enriched with manure or cellulosic *** role as human pathogens is largely ***,the ability of some species to grow at high temperature enables them to play an important role as opportunistic *** family contains several genera and species that have never been reported to cause human ***,three new species are described;two belong to the genus Subramaniula and one represents a Chaetomium *** asteroides was isolated from various sources including eye and skin infections as well as from the natural environment,and *** was isolated from a toe *** anamorphosum was isolated from a kidney transplant patient suffering from fungal *** species described were previously misidentified as Papulaspora *** to the formation of cellular clumps or bulbil-like structures,which are characteristic of *** isolates failed to form sexual fruit bodies and ascospores remained absent,which is an unusual feature for the generally ascosporulating genera Chaetomium and Subramaniula;minute conidia from phialides were sometimes observed.
