Water Intake and Utilization in Mithun (bos frontalis):Effect of Environmental Temperature,Rearing System and Concentrate Feed Supplement

Seasonal and sexual variations as well as the effect of dry feed supplement on total drinking water intake and its utilization were observed in mithun （bosfrontalis） - a semi-wild animal found in North Eastern Hill Region （NEHR） of India. In a completely randomized design, twelve adult mithuns （b. frontalis） as per their sex and body weight were assigned in two different rearing systems （free grazing and free grazing with dry concentrate feed supplementation）, and ten growing male mithuns as per their body weight assigned in two different levels of dry concentrate feed supplementation （1.o kg and 2.0 kg dry concentrate feeds on green forage based diet） and in two different seasons （summer and winter）. It was observed that the environmental temperature had a significant effect on drinking water intake by mithuns. Drinking water consumption （per unit of body weight） was significantly （p 〈 0.05） higher in summer than in winter. Supplementation of concentrate feed on free grazing animals resulted in increase in water consumption. Total water consumption （drinking as well as performed water） was found to be 15.18 litres per 100 kg body weight by growing mithun. Feed dry matter and digestible nutrient intakes by growing mithun were observed to be increased with the increase of supplementation of dry concentrate feed. Roughage to concentrate ratio did not affect the nutrient digestibility. Mithun calves drank an average of 4.30 litres water for each kg of dry matter intake. Metabolic water was significantly （p〈0.01） increased with the increase of supplementation of concentrate feed whereas water turn over, which depends upon the body weight of the animals, did not differ significantly on offering of lower or higher level of dry feed. Faecal water loss of growing mithun was decreased with the increase in intake of concentrate feed and was estimated to be 33 - 46 % of total water intake. mmunomodulatory properties of silver nanoparticles ontribute to anticancer strategy for murine fibrosarcoma

The use of nanotechnology in nanoparticle-based cancer therapeutics is gaining impetus due to the unique biophysical properties of nanoparticles at the quantum level. Silver nanoparticles （AgNps） have been reported as one type of potent therapeutic nanoparticles. The present study is aimed to determine the effect of AgNps in arresting the growth of a murine fibrosarcoma by a reductive mechanism. Initially, a bioavailability study showed that mouse serum albumin （MSA）-coated AgNps have enhanced uptake; therefore, toxicity studies of AgNp-MSA at 10 different doses （1-10 mg/kg b.w.） were performed in LACA mice by measuring the complete blood count, lipid profile and histological parameters. The complete blood count, lipid profile and histological parameter results showed that the doses from 2 to 8 mg （IC50： 6.15 mg/kg b.w.） sequentially increased the count of leukocytes, lymphocytes and granulocytes, whereas the 9- and 10-mg doses showed conclusive toxicity. In an antitumor study, the incidence and size of fibrosarcoma were reduced or delayed when murine fibrosarcoma groups were treated by AgNp-MSA. Transmission electron micrographs showed that considerable uptake of AgNp-MSA by the sentinel immune cells associated with tumor tissue and a morphologically buckled structure of the immune cells containing AgNp-MSA. because the toxicity studies revealed a relationship between AgNps and immune function, the protumorigenic cytokines TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-1β were also assayed in AgNp-MSA-treated and non-treated fibrosarcoma groups, and these cytokines were found to be downregulated after treatment with AgNp-MSA.

Motivations of Individuals participating in Social Media： A Cultural perspective

Social media is an information technology that allows users to communicate and share information. With steadily rising number of users across the globe, individuals participate in various activities, like connecting with friends and community members, sharing information, posting political messages, disaster recovery activities, reading daily news, learning, and entertainment, each driven by different sets of motivations. Culture has an influence on the kind of motivation―pro-social and personal needs oriented―that drives social media usage by individuals. Using Hofstede’s （1984b） cultural dimensions, the paper suggests that each of the dimensions will have influences on the social media behaviors differently. Such a cultural perspective helps future social media users to plan the kind of activity and information sharing based on the kind of motivation driving the target audience and the platform providers to design and market accordingly.

The combination of kidney paired donation(KpD) with desensitization represents a promising method of increasing the rate of living donor kidney transplantation(LDKT) in immunologically challenging patients. patients who are difficult to match and desensitize due to strong donor specific antibody are may be transplanted by a combination of desensitization and KpD protocol with more immunologically favorable donor. We present our experience of combination of desensitization protocol with three-way KpD which contributed to successful LDKT in highly sensitized end stage renal disease patient. All recipients were discharged with normal and stable allograft function at 24 mo follow up. We believe that this is first report from India where three-way KpD exchange was performed with the combination of KpD and desensitization. The combination of desensitization protocol with KpD improves access and outcomes of LDKT.

Structural Characterization of borate Glasses Containing Zinc and Manganese Oxides

We have investigated the effect of inclusion of two transition metal ions (TMI) on structure and optical properties of borate glass system having composition xMnO2 – yZnO – (100 – x – y) b2O3 (9 ≤ x ≤ 12, 36 ≤y ≤ 48) prepared by melt quenched route. Thermal study by using a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) reveals that the glass transition temperature (Tg) and crystallization temperature (Tc) of the glasses increases with the increase of borate content in the system. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra indicate that inclusion of TMI produces bO3 and bO4 structural units by breaking the boroxol (b3O6) ring. The optical band gap energy estimated from ultraviolet-visible spectra shows a decreasing tendency when TMI are incorporated in the borate structure.

Searching systematics for nonfactorizable contributions to b- and■ hadronic decays

The two-body weak decays ■and■ are examined using isospin analysis to study nonfactorizable contributions. After determining strong interaction phases and obtaining factorizable contributions from spectator-quark diagrams for Nc=3, we determine nonfactorizable isospin amplitudes from the experimental data for these modes. Our results support the universality of the ratio of nonfactorizable isospin reduced amplitudes for these decays within experimental errors. To demonstrate that these systematics are not coincidental, we also plot our results w. r. t. this ratio.

The Sodium Montmorillonite(Na-MMT)is not susceptible to polymer due to its organophilic character and low basal *** primary objective of this study was to improve Na-MMT platelets separation by organically modifying it with cation and anion exchanges using Cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide(CTAb)and Sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS)*** spacing,presence of functional groups,Zetapotential with particle size analysis and thermal stability of the Organomodified Na-MMT(OMMT)were characterized using XRD,FTIR,zeta-potential analyzer and TGA *** basal spacing of CTAb modified OMMTincreased to 19.5Åfrom 11.0Åwhich corresponds to the basal spacing of *** SDS modified OMMT did not show any increase in the basal *** spectra of CTAb modified Na-MMT illustrated the attachment of CTAb functional groups to Na-MMT,while the same was absent in the case of SDS modified *** zeta-potential of Na-MMT shifted from–24.88 mV to 15.66 mV in the case of CTAb modified Na-MMTand 12.49 mV for SDS modified Na-MMT,indicating a greater surface potential of the modified *** TGA showed greater weight loss for CTAb modified Na-MMT than that for Na-MMT,indicating the effective Na+ion exchange with alkyl amines.

High prevalence of pathogenic Leptospira in wild and domesticated animals in an endemic area of China

Objective:To assess the prevalence of Leptospira detected in wildlife and domesticated animals in Jiangxi province,China,in ***:Urine samples from 28 buffaloes and kidney samples from 50 pigs,50 dogs and 38 rats were collected from Fuliang and Shangrao County,Jiangxi province,China,in October *** chain reaction(pCR) and culture analyses were used to detect *** cultured isolates were typed using the microscopic agglutination lest(MAT).Results:The results showed that rats potentially serve as the main reservoir of leptospiral infection,followed by *** 16%of rats(6/38) were positive using culture analysis,pCR analysis using the diagnostic primers G1/G2 and b64Ⅰ/b64Ⅱor lipLS2 showed identification as 50%and 24%,respectively,of the rat samples as positive for the presence of leptospiral ***:pCR-based detection of leptospiral DNA in infected kidney tissues of reservoirs is more efficient when using G1/G2 primers than lipL32 primers. However,the latter primers have a potential application for detection in urine *** alarmingly high prevalence of leptospiral DMA in the wild rat population near human habitation underscores the utility of routine Leptospira surveillance,preferably using pCR methods,which are more sensitive than traditional culture-based methods.
