Importance of dementia and Alzheimer's disease(AD): On Earth, there is a "country" that we call Dementia with around 50 million inhabitants and an estimated global economic cost of US $1 trillion(Wimo et al., 2017).AD may contribute to 60–70% of cases, with other major forms of dementia being vascular dementia, dementia with Lewy bodies and a group of diseases that contribute to frontotemporal ***, the boundaries between different forms of dementia are indistinct and mixed forms often co-exist, which are only confirmed after postmortem neuropathological studies(Fernandez-Vega et al., 2015).

In this paper the provision of flexible generation is investigated by extracting steam from Rankine-cycle power stations during off-peak demand in order to charge thermal tanks that contain suitable phase-change materials(PCMs);at a later time when this is required and/or is economically effective,these thermal energy storage(TES)tanks can act as the heat sources of secondary thermal power plants in order to generate power,for example as evaporators of,e.g.,organic Rankine cycle(ORC)plants that are suitable for power generation at reduced temperatures and smaller *** type of solution offers greater flexibility than TES-only technologies that store thermal energy and release it back to the base power station,since it allows both derating but also over-generation compared to the base power-station *** solution is applied in a case study of a 50-MW rated oil-fired power station unit at the autonomous system of *** optimal operation of the TES system is investigated,by solving a modified Unit Commitment-Economic Dispatch optimization problem,which includes the TES operating *** results indicate that for most of the scenarios the discounted payback period is lower than 12 years,while in few cases the payback period is 5 years.

Plant species of cropping systems may affect nitrous oxide(n 2 O) emissions.A field experiment was conducted to investigate dynamics of n 2 O emissions from rice-wheat fields from December 2006 to June 2007 and the relationships of soil and plant parameters with n 2 O *** results indicated that n 2 O emissions from different wheat varieties ranged from 12 to 291 μg n 2 O-n m 2 h 1 and seasonal n 2 O emissions ranged from 312 to 385 mg n 2 O-n m *** the rice season,it was from 11 to 154 μg n 2 O-n m 2 h 1 with seasonal n 2 O emission of 190-216 mg n 2 O-n m *** seasonal integrated flux of n 2 O differed significantly among wheat and rice *** wheat variety HUW 234 and rice variety Joymoti showed higher seasonal n 2 O *** the wheat season,n 2 O emissions correlated with soil organic carbon(SOC),soil nO 3-n,soil temperature,shoot dry weight,and root dry *** the variables assessed,soil temperature followed by SOC and soil nO 3-n were considered as the important variables influencing n 2 O emission.n 2 O emission in the rice season was significantly correlated with SOC,soil nO 3-n,soil temperature,leaf area,shoot dry weight,and root dry *** main driving forces influencing n 2 O emission in the rice season were soil nO 3-n,leaf area,and SOC.

A new way of designing and preparing silicon nitride ceramic composite with high fracture toughness and nacre structure has been proposed. To mimic the laminated structure of nacre, Si_3n_4 matrix ceramic layer can be obtained through compacting rolling method. To mimic the secondary toughening of nacre structure, SiC whisker is added into Si_3n_4 and acts as the secondary toughening phase. boron nitride (bn)is selected to mimic the organic layer in nacre so as to form the weak interfaces between Si_3n_4 layers. Alumina is added into bn to adjust the bonding strength of the *** Si_3n_4 sheets are stacked into the die after coating with bn. After the removal of the organic matter in them, the green body is hot pressed at 1820℃for 1.5 hours under n_2 atmosphere. The fracture toughness of the so-made Si_3n_4 composite at room temperature is 20.36MPa m￣(1/2), the three-point bending strength at room temperature is 651.47MPa. The crack spreads and deflects along the interface between bn and Si_3n_4 layer and extends through the bn layer into Si_3n_4 layer. The improvement of the fracture toughness may be due to the staircase-shape-like crack which provides the long crack path, the fracture and deformation of Si_3n_4 layer, and the pullout of SiC whiskers from the Si_3n_4 layer.

Although reports have documented loss of species diversity and ecological services caused by stressful temperature changes that result from climate change,some species cope through behavioral *** temperatures and magnitudes of temperature extremes increase,animals should compensate to maintain fitness(such as through temporary behavioral shifts in activity times).Appropriate timing of activity helps avoid competition across *** coprophagic dung beetles exhibit species-specific temporal activity times,it is unknown whether temperature drives evolution of these species-specific temporal activity *** nine dung beetle species(three each of diurnal,crepuscular,and nocturnal species),we explored differences in heat stress tolerance measured as critical thermal maxima(CTmax;the highest temperature allowing activity)and heat knockdown time(HKDT;survival time under acute heat stress)across these species,and examined the results using a phylogenetically informed *** results showed that day-active species had significantly higher CTmax(diurnal>crepuscular=nocturnal species),whereas crepuscular species had higher HKDT(crepuscular>nocturnal>diurnal species).There was no correlation between heat tolerance and body size across species with distinct temporal activity,and no significant phylogenetic constraint for *** with higher CTmax did not necessarily have higher HKDT,which indicates that species may respond differently to diverse heat tolerance *** heat tolerance for diurnal beetles indicates that this trait may constrain activity time and,under high acute temperatures with climate change,species may shift activity times in more benign *** results contribute to elucidate the evolution of foraging behavior and management of coprophagic beetle ecosystem services under changing environments.

The challenges of a changing climate have directed greater attention to afforestation,but the effects of afforestation on soil fertility and soil biota have not been fully *** explore changes in the soil conditions in two 20-year-old forest plantations established in formerly intensively fertilized plots of agricultural land,we focused on the current developmental state of the sites that received the most fertilizer and evaluated soil properties and Collembola(springtails)*** oak(Quercus petraea)and black locust(Robinia pseudoacacia)that had been planted in the afforestation sites were assessed for differences between plantations of native and invasive *** adjacent reference associations,including forests and open habitats,were also analyzed and *** showed that the soils in the two afforested sites were similar in their properties and Collembola communities to those of the control cultivated forests,but differed from each other in pH,calcium,phosphorus,and ammonium *** available potassium and phosphorus contents in the soil of the sessile oak plantation were still high,while the soil organic matter content was adequate(SOM>2.0%)in both *** richness of Collembola ranged from 18 in the cultivated arable land to 43 in the relict *** a few species typical for forests(e.g.,neanura muscorum,Isotomiella minor,Entomobrya muscorum)were detected in the young plantations,while species characteristic of open habitats(e.g.,Protaphorura campata,Lepidocyrtus cyaneus)occurred as *** more individuals and species of Collembola were present in the soil of young plantations than in arable fields,their community diversities were significantly lower compared to the control forest *** community diversity differed significantly also between the two plantation types(with native and non-native tree species).Mean abundance in the afforested sites was about 2.5 times higher than in the cultiv
