birds exhibit extraordinary mobility and remarkable navigational skills,obtaining guidance cues from the Earth’s magnetic field for orientation and long-distance *** species also show tremendous diversity in navigation strategies,with considerable differences even within the same taxa and among individuals from the same *** highly conserved iron and iron-sulfur cluster binding magnetoreceptor(MagR)protein is suggested to enable animals,including birds,to detect the geomagnetic field and navigate ***,MagR is also implicated in other functions,such as electron transfer and biogenesis of iron-sulfur clusters,raising the question of whether variability exists in its biochemical and biophysical features among species,particularly *** the current study,we conducted a comparative analysis of MagR from two different bird species,including the migratory European robin(Erithacus rubecula)and the homing pigeon(Columba livia).Sequence alignment revealed an extremely high degree of similarity between the MagRs of these species,with only three sequence ***,two of these variations underpinned significant differences in metal binding capacity,oligomeric state,and magnetic *** findings offer compelling evidence for the marked differences in MagR between the two avian species,potentially explaining how a highly conserved protein can mediate such diverse functions.

Circulating tumor cells(CTCs)are precursors of distant metastasis in a subset of cancer patients.A better understanding of CTCs heterogeneity and how these CTCs survive during hematogenous dissemination could lay the foundation for therapeutic prevention of cancer *** remains elusive how CTCs evade immune surveillance and elimination by immune *** this study,we unequivocally identified a subpopulation of CTCs shielded with extracellular vesicle(EVs)-derived CD45(termed as CD45^(+)CTCs)that resisted T cell attack.A higher percentage of CD45^(+)CTCs was found to be closely correlated with higher incidence of metastasis and worse prognosis in cancer ***,CD45^(+)tumor cells orchestrated an immunosuppressive milieu and CD45^(+)CTCs exhibited remarkably stronger metastatic potential than CD45−CTCs in ***,CD45 expressing on tumor surfaces was shown to form intercellular CD45-CD45 homophilic interactions with CD45 on T cells,thereby preventing CD45 exclusion from TCR-pMHC synapse and leading to diminished TCR signaling transduction and suppressed immune ***,these results pointed to an underappreciated capability of EVs-derived CD45-dressed CTCs in immune evasion and metastasis,providing a rationale for targeting EVs-derived CD45 internalization by CTCs to prevent cancer metastasis.

Surface engineering on MnO2 nanorods by La single atoms to accelerate oxygen reduction kinetics

Surface engineering,which modulates the electronic structure and adsorption/desorption properties of electrocatalysts,is one of the key strategies for improving the catalytic ***,we demonstrate a facile solid-phase reaction for surface engineering of MnO2to boost the oxygen reduction *** reaction with surface hydroxy groups,La single atoms with loading amount up to 2.7 wt%are anchored onto *** surface engineering,the oxygen reduction reaction （ORR） kinetics is significantly improved with the half-wave potential from 0.70 to 0.84 V,the number of transferred electrons from 2.5 to 3.9 and the limiting current density from 4.8 to 6.0 mA·*** addition,the catalyst delivers superior discharge performance in both alkaline and neutral metal–air *** functional theory （DFT） calculations reveal that atomic La modulates the surface electronic configuration of MnO2,reduces its d-band center and thus lowers the OOH*and O*reaction energy *** work provides a new route for rational design of highly active electrocatalyst and holds great potential for application in various catalytic reactions.

CO_(2)emission inventory provides fundamental data for climate research and emission ***,most global CO_(2)emission inventories were developed with energy statistics from International Energy Agency(IEA)and were available at country level with limited source ***,as the first step toward a high-resolution and dynamic updated global CO_(2)emission database,we developed a data-driven approach to construct seamless and highly-resolved energy consumption data cubes for 208 countries/territories,797 sub-country administrative divisions in 29 countries,42 fuel types,and 52 sectors,with the fusion of activity data from 24 international statistics and 65 regional/local *** CO_(2)emissions from fossil fuel combustion and cement production in 1970–2021 were then estimated with highly-resolved source category(1,484 of total)and sub-country information(797 of total).Specifically,73%of global CO_(2)emissions in 2021 were estimated with sub-country information,providing considerably improved spatial resolution for global CO_(2)emission *** the support of detailed information,the dynamics of global CO_(2)emissions across sectors and fuel types were presented,representing the evolution of global economy and progress of climate *** differences of sectoral contribution were found across sub-country administrative divisions within a given country,revealing the uneven distribution of energy and economic structure among different *** estimates were generally consistent with existing databases at aggregated level for global total or large emitters,while large discrepancies were observed for middle and small *** database,named the Multiresolution Emission Inventory model for Climate and air pollution research(MEIC)is publicly available through http://*** with highly-resolved information and timely update,which provides an independent carbon emission accounting data source for climate rese

A novel alternative for pyrogen detection based on a transgenic cell line

Pyrogen,often as a contaminant,is a key indicator affecting the safety of almost all parenteral drugs(including biologicals,chemicals,traditional Chinese medicines and medical devices).It has become a goal to completely replace the in vivo rabbit pyrogen test by using the in vitro pyrogen test based on the promoted‘reduction,replacement and refinement’principle,which has been highly considered by regulatory agencies from different *** used NF-κb,a central signalling molecule mediating inflammatory responses,as a pyrogenic marker and the monocyte line THP-1 transfected with a luciferase reporter gene regulated by NF-κb as an in vitro model to detect pyrogens by measuring the intensity of a fluorescence ***,we show that this test can quantitatively and sensitively detect endotoxin(lipopolysaccharide from different strains)and nonendotoxin(lipoteichoic acid,zymosan,peptidoglycan,lectin and glucan),has good stability in terms of NF-κb activity and cell phenotypes at 39 cell passages and can be applied to detect pyrogens in biologicals(group A&C meningococcal polysaccharide vaccine;basiliximab;rabies vaccine(Vero cells)for human use,freeze-dried;Japanese encephalitis vaccine(Vero cells),inactivated;insulin aspart injection;human albumin;recombinant human erythropoietin injection(CHO Cell)).The within-laboratory reproducibility of the test in three independent laboratories was 85%,80%and 80%and the interlaboratory reproducibility among laboratories was 83.3%,95.6%and 86.7%.The sensitivity(true positive rate)and specificity(true negative rate)of the test were 89.9%and 90.9%,*** summary,the test provides a novel alternative for pyrogen detection.

作为机器学习的一个新兴领域,多源部分域适应(MSPDA)问题由于其源域自身的复杂性、领域之间的差异性以及目标域自身的无监督性,给相关研究带来了挑战,以致目前鲜有相关工作被提出.在该场景下,多个源域中的无关类样本在域适应过程中会造成较大的累积误差和负迁移.此外,现有多源域适应方法大多未考虑不同源域对目标域任务的贡献度不同.因此,提出基于自适应权重的多源部分域适应方法(AW-MSPDA).首先,构建了多样性特征提取器以有效利用源域的先验知识;同时,设计了多层次分布对齐策略从不同层面消除了分布差异,促进了正迁移;此外,为量化不同源域贡献度以及过滤源域无关类样本,利用相似性度量以及伪标签加权方式构建自适应权重;最后,通过大量实验验证了所提出AW-MSPDA算法的泛化性以及优越性.

Gravity models given by higher-order scalar curvature corrections are believed to bear important consequences. Einstein-bel-Robinson (EbR) gravity with quartic curvature modification motivated Sajadi et al. to explore static spherically symmetric black hole solutions using perturbative methods. In this study, inspired by their work, we investigate AdS black hole shadows in EbR gravity and demonstrate how the gravity parameter alters the energy emission rate. Finally, we address the same problem in the presence of plasma, because the black holes are thought to be surrounded by a medium that changes the geodesic of photons.
