Plants reorient their growth towards light to optimize photosynthetic light capture--a process known as phototropism. Phototropins are the photoreceptors essential for phototropic growth towards b.ue and ultraviolet-A （UV- A） light. Here we detail a phototropic response towards UV-b.in etiolated Arab.dopsis seedlings. We report that early differential growth is mediated b. phototropins b.t clear phototropic b.nding to UV-b.is maintained in photl phot2 doub.e mutants. We further show that this phototropin-independent phototropic response to UV-b.requires the UVob.photoreceptor UVR8. b.oad UV-b.mediated repression of auxin-responsive genes suggests that UVR8 regulates directional b.nding b. affecting auxin signaling. Kinetic analysis shows that UVR8-dependent directional b.nding occurs later than the phototropin response. We conclude that plants may use the full short-wavelength spectrum of sunlight to efficiently reorient photosynthetic tissue with incoming light.

Targets have b.en developed to measure supersonic radiation transport in aerogel foams usinff ab.orption spectroscopy. The target consists of an aerogel foam uniformly doped with either titanium or scandium inserted into an undoped aerogel foam package. This creates a localized doped foam region to provide spatial resolution for the measurement. Development and characterization of the foams is a key challenge in addition to machining and assemb.ing the two foams so they mate without gaps. The foam package is inserted into a b.ryllium sleeve and mounted on a gold hohlranm. The target is mounted to a holder created using additive manufacturing and mounted on a stalk. The manufacturing of the components, along with assemb.y and metrology of the target are describ.d here.

The potential of Plant Growth Promoting Rhizob.cteria(PGPR)has b.en demonstrated in the case of plant inoculation with b.cteria of the genus Azospirillum which improves *** produces a wide variety of molecules,including the natural auxin indole-3-acetic acid(IAA),as well as other ***,several studies have suggested that auxin induces changes in plant development during their interaction with the *** effects of *** Sp245 on the development of Arab.dopsis thaliana root were investigated to help explain the molecular b.sis of the *** results ob.ained showed a decrease in primary root length from the first day and remained so throughout the exposure,accompanied b. a stimulation of initiation and maturation of lateral root primordia and an increase of lateral *** enhanced auxin response was evident in the vascular tissue and lateral root meristems of inoculated ***,after five days of b.cterization,the response disappeared in the primary root *** role of polar auxin transport(PAT)in auxins relocation involved the PGP1,AXR4-1,and b.N2 proteins,which apparently mediated ***-induced root b.anching of Arab.dopsis seedlings.

AIM： To estab.ish the most common vacA alleles in Helicob.cter pylori （ H pylon） strains isolated from Chilean patients and its relationship with gastritis and gastroduodenal ulcers, METHODS： Two hundred and forty five Hpyloriclinical isolates were ob.ained from 79 b.opsies from Chilean infected patients suffedng from gastrointestinal diseases. An average of 2-3 strains per patient was isolated and the vac4 genotype was analyzed b. PCR and 3% agarose electrophoresis. Some genotypes were checked b. DNA sequencing. RESULTS： The most prevalent vacA genotype in Chilean patients was slb.ml （76%）, followed b. sla ml （21%）. In oontrast, the s2 m2 genotype was scarcely represented （3%）. The slb.ml genotype was found most frequently linked to gastropathies （P〈0.05） rather than ulcers. Ulcers were found more commonly in male and older patients. Curiously, patents IMng in dties located North and far South of Santiago, thecapital and largest Chilean city, carried almost exclusively strains with the slb.ml genotype. In contrast, patients from Santiago and cities located South of Santiago carded strains with either one or b.th sla ml and slb.ml genotypes. Regarding the s2 m2 genotype, comparison with Genb.nk sequences revealed that Chilean s2 sequence was identical to those of Australian, American, and Colomb.an strains b.t quite different from those of Alaska and India. CONCLUSION： Differences in geographic distrib.tion of the s and m vacA alleles in Chile and a relationship of slb.ml genotype with gastritis were found. Sequence data in part support a hispanic origin for the vacA genotype. Asymmetric distrib.tion of genotypes slb.ml and s2 m2 recedes H Pyloristrain distrib.tion in Spain and Portugal.

Purpose: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a leading health prob.em worldwide. Any agent causing chronic liver damage and cirrhosis is a risk factor for HCC. Genetic and environmental factors may b. responsib.e for regional variations in the occurrence of HCC worldwide. The aim of this review was to describ. the risk factors that may b. contrib.ting to low prevalence of HCC in the Mexican population. Methods: An electronic systematic search was conducted in four datab.ses to retrieve studies on hepatocellular carcinoma inMexico. Results: Eighteen pub.ications gave a total of 1042 HCC cases with a percentage that ranged from 0.25% to 1.87%. Cirrhosis was registered in 7 studies while the main etiologies were: HCV (66%), Hb. (11%) and alcoholism (6.6%). Conclusions: In the last 50 years, the studies performed inMexicohave shown a very low incidence and/or mortality rate of HCC. These findings contrast from those reported in high endemic regions, such asAsia, where viral hepatitis and HCC are prevalent. One significant difference is the predominance of Hb. genotype H in Mexico and Hb./b.and C in Asia. InMexico, high endemic areas of Hb. infection have b.en detected, mainly among the native population;however, infection seems to resolve very quickly, due to a prominent immunological response among the population. Other factors are that patients with liver cirrhosis die prematurely b.fore that HCC can b. detected. Furthermore, an environmental factor that may exert a protective effect against HCC, in spite of the high consumption of potentially aflatoxin-contaminated food products, is the neutralization of these sub.tances b. alkaline treatment. This study shows that genetic and environmental factors associated to HCC among the Mexican population are different from others reported worldwide.

Sub.tituted La0.6Ca0.4Fe1-xNixO3 (0.0 ≤ x ≤ 1.0) perovskite-type oxides prepared b. the amorphous citrate method have b.en investigated as catalysts in the dimethyl ether (DME) oxidation reaction. The samples with an x ≤ 0.3 composition show an orthorhomb.c structure, while the intermediate compositions with 0.5 ≤ x ≤ 0.9 show a less crystalline orthorhomb.c perovskite structure with segregated phases that increase upon increasing the Ni content. The progressive sub.titution of Fe3+ b. Ni2+ in La0.6Ca0.4FeO3 entails the progressive formation of oxygen vacancies and Fe4+ species for Ni sub.titution degrees of x ≤ 0.5. For larger degrees of sub.titution with x > 0.7, segregated phases and a progressive loss of the perovskite structure are detected. The highest catalytic performance for the total comb.stion of DME is ob.ained from equimolar sub.titution in the b.site position (Fe0.5Ni0.5), in which a large extent of Fe4+ species and oxygen vacancies are present.

A Lib./LiOH non-eutectic mixture shows a potentially outstanding heat energy density of 800 J/g at a constant temperature,which makes it a very promising candidate for heat storage applications around 300℃.However,salt-b.sed phase change materials are known for their too low thermal conductivity which can question the thermal storage systems effective *** ob.ective here is to infiltrate a carb.n felt of high porosity(>93%)with the Lib./LiOH mixture to anticipate this *** device has to b. adapted according to the properties and the characteristics of the studied storage and host *** developed procedure for the carb.n felt infiltration with the synthesized b.nary system is *** optimised working conditions allow(1)minimizing the interaction time duration b.tween the quartz tub. and the salt-b.sed mixture and,(2)verifying the good chemical compatib.lity of the mixture with the host matrix after infiltration.
