A 1063 b. cDNA clone encoding a putative 37 kDa laminin receptor precursor (37 kDa LRP) is isolated from the mantle tissue of pearl oyster,Pinctada fucata. The amino acid sequence predicted from the cDNA sequence is 301 residues long,with a calculated molec-ular mass of 33.5 kDa. RT-PCR analysis shows that 37 kDa LRP mRNA is especially highly expressed in the mantle while widely expressed in several tissues. In situ hyb.idization analysis reveals that 37 kDa LRP is expressed in the outer epithelial cells of the mantle edge,suggesting its involvement in cell proliferation and secretion in P. fucata. The identification and characterization of 37 kDa LRP in the pearl oyster will help us to further understand the signal transduction in the processes of mantle epithelial cell proliferation and tissue formation.

In this paper, we study on the application of radical b.spline wavelet scaling function in fractal function approximation system. The paper proposes a wavelet-b.sed fractal function approximation algorithm in which the coefficients can b. determined b. solving a convex quadraticprogramming prob.em. And the experiment result shows that the approximation error of this algorithm is smaller than that of the polynomial-b.sed fractal function approximation. This newalgorithm exploits the consistency b.tween fractal and scaling function in multi-scale and multiresolution, has a b.tter approximation effect and high potential in data compression, especially inimage compression.

Sm2（Zr1-xCex）2O7 （x=0.1, 0.2, and 0.3） ceramics were prepared b. solid reaction method at 1600°C for 10 h using Sm2O3, ZrO2, and CeO2 as starting reactants. The phase compositions, microstructures, thermal expansion coefficients, and partial thermal conductivities of these materials were investigated. X-ray diffraction （XRD） results reveal that Sm2（Zr0.9Ce0.1）2O7 with pyrochlore structure and Sm2（Zr1-xCex）2O7 （x=0.2 and 0.3） with fluorite structure were synthesized, and scanning electrical microscopy （SEM） images show that the microstructures of these products are very dense. The linear thermal expansion coefficients increase with increasing temperature in the temperature range from amb.ent to 1200°C, and the thermal expansion coefficients increase with increasing content of doped CeO2. The thermal conductivities of Sm2（Zr0.8Ce0.2）2O7 and Sm2（Zr0.7Ce0.3）2O7 decrease gradually with an increase in temperature. These results show that the synthesized ceramic materials can b. explored as novel prospective candidate materials for use in new thermal b.rrier coating systems in the future.

A novel myotoxic protein phospholipase A2(PLA2), denoted as Gln49-PLA2, has b.en isolated from snake venom of Agkistrodon b.omhoffii ussurensis, which has weak lethal effect and apparent anticoagulant activity, b.t lacks the PLA2 and hemorrha-genic activity. Gln49-PLA2 ob.iously increases of plasma creatine-kinase (CK) upon intramuscular injection in mice, suggesting that it may induce a dose-dependent myonecrosis. Histological studies also reveal morphological changes in mouse skeletal muscles, including extensive myonecrosis, hemorrhage and neutrophil infiltration in the treated animals. The myotoxic ab.lity induced b. Gln49-PLA2 can b. partially inhib.ted b. heparin.
