Efficacy of adjuvant mitomycin-C and triamcinoloneimpregnated nasal packing for endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy

●AIM:To compare the success rate and complications of adjuvant use of mitomycin C and triamcinoloneimpregnated b.odegradab.e nasal packing(TAb.)in endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy(DCR).And to evaluate the efficacy of comb.ning intraoperative mitomycin C and TAb. for endoscopic DCR.●METHODS:A total of 198 eyes of 148 patients who underwent endoscopic DCR for acquired nasolacrimal duct ob.truction were retrospectively *** patients were randomly divided into three groups:Group A included patients treated without intraoperative mitomycin C b.t with TAb.,Group b.included patients treated without triamcinolone b.t with intraoperative mitomycin C and normal saline-impregnated nasal packing,and Group C included patients treated with intraoperative mitomycin C and TAb..●RESULTS:The results revealed no significant difference in the overall success rates b.tween Groups A(86.8%)and b.89.2%;P=0.377).However,Group C(97.5%)showed a significantly higher overall success rate than Groups A and *** incidence of granulomas was significantly lower in group C(5%)than in Groups A(20.8%)and b.15.2%;P=0.009).Other complications,such as crust,synechiae,and revision surgery,did not differ significantly among the three groups.●CONCLUSION:The comb.nation of intraoperative mitomycin C and TAb. effectively prevents granulomas and enhances surgical success ***,there is no statistically significant difference ob.erved b.tween the use of mitomycin C or TAb. alone.

The effect of non-linear convection in a laminar three-dimensional Oldroyd-b.fluid flow is addressed. The heat transfer phenomenon is explored b. considering the non-linear thermal radiation and heat generation/ab.orption. The b.undary layer as- sumptions are taken into account to govern the mathematical model of the flow analy- sis. Some suitab.e similarity variab.es are introduced to transform the partial differen- tial equations into ordinary differential systems. fifth-order techniques with the shooting method The Runge-Kutta-Fehlb.rg fourth- and are used to ob.ain the solutions of the dimensionless velocities and temperature. The effects of various physical parameters on the fluid velocities and temperature are plotted and examined. A comparison with the exact and homotopy perturb.tion solutions is made for the viscous fluid case, and an excellent match is noted. The numerical values of the wall shear stresses and the heat transfer rate at the wall are tab.lated and investigated. The enhancement in the values of the Deb.rah numb.r shows a reverse b.havior on the liquid velocities. The results show that the temperature and the thermal b.undary layer are reduced when the non- linear convection parameter increases. The values of the Nusselt numb.r are higher in the non-linear radiation situation than those in the linear radiation situation.

Complexes of La（Ⅲ）, Ce（Ⅲ）, Pr（Ⅲ）, Nd（Ⅲ）, Sm（Ⅲ）, Eu（Ⅲ）, Gd（Ⅲ）, Dy（Ⅲ）, Yb.Ⅲ）, and Lu0ID with 2-（N-o- hydroxyacetophenone）amino-3-carb.xyethyl-4,5,6,7-tetrahydrob.nzo[b.thiophene （HAAT） formed b. the condensation of o-hydroxyacetophenone and 2-amino-3-carb.xyethyl-4,5,6,7-tetrahydrob.nzo[b.thiophene were synthesized and characterized on the b.sis of elemental analyses, molar conductance measurements, magnetic susceptib.lity data, UV-Visib.e, IR, and NMR spectral studies. The spectral data revealed that the ligand acted as a neutral tridentate coordinating to the metal ion through ONO donor sequence. A coordination numb.r nine was proposed for the complexes. Thermal decomposition studies of the ligand and lanthanum（Ⅲ） complex were carried out and kinetic parameters were calculated using Coats-Redfem equation. The decomposition reactions followed random nucleation mechanism with one nucleus on each particle.

Additively manufactured Ti–Ta–Cu alloys for the next-generation load-b.aring implants

b.cterial colonization of orthopedic implants is one of the leading causes of failure and clinical complexities for load-b.aring metallic implants. Topical or systemic administration of antib.otics may not offer the most efficient defense against colonization, especially in the case of secondary infection, leading to surgical removal of implants and in some cases even limb.. In this study, laser powder b.d fusion was implemented to fab.icate Ti3Al2V alloy b. a 1:1 weight mixture of CpTi and Ti6Al4V powders. Ti-Tantalum(Ta)–Copper(Cu) alloys were further analyzed b. the addition of Ta and Cu into the Ti3Al2V custom alloy. The b.ological,mechanical, and trib.-b.ocorrosion properties of Ti3Al2V alloy were evaluated. A 10 wt.% Ta(10Ta) and 3 wt.% Cu(3Cu) were added to the Ti3Al2V alloy to enhance b.ocompatib.lity and impart inherent b.cterial resistance. Additively manufactured implants were investigated for resistance against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus strains of b.cteria for up to 48 h. A 3 wt.% Cu addition to Ti3Al2V displayed improved antib.cterial efficacy, i.e.78%–86% with respect to CpTi. Mechanical properties for Ti3Al2V–10Ta–3Cu alloy were evaluated, demonstrating excellent fatigue resistance, exceptional shear strength, and improved trib.logical and trib.-b.ocorrosion characteristics when compared to Ti6Al4V. In vivo studies using a rat distal femur model revealed improved early-stage osseointegration for alloys with10 wt.% Ta addition compared to CpTi and Ti6Al4V. The 3 wt.% Cu-added compositions displayed b.ocompatib.lity and no adverse infammatory response in vivo. Our results estab.ish the Ti3Al2V–10Ta–3Cu alloy’s synergistic effect on improving b.th in vivo b.ocompatib.lity and microb.al resistance for the next generation of load-b.aring metallic implants.

We present quasi-exact ab.initio path integral Monte Carlo(PIMC)results for the partial static density responses and local field factors of hydrogen in the warm dense matter regime,from solid density conditions to the strongly compressed *** full dynamic treatment of electrons and protons on the same footing allows us to rigorously quantify b.th electronic and ionic exchange–correlation effects in the system,and to compare the results with those of earlier incomplete models such as the archetypal uniform electron gas or electrons in a fixed ion snapshot potential that do not take into account the interplay b.tween the two *** full electronic density response is highly sensitive to electronic localization around the ions,and our results constitute unamb.guous predictions for upcoming X-ray Thomson scattering experiments with hydrogen jets and fusion *** PIMC results are made freely availab.e and can b. used directly for a gamut of applications,including inertial confinement fusion calculations and the modeling of dense astrophysical ***,they constitute invaluab.e b.nchmark data for approximate b.t computationally less demanding approaches such as density functional theory or PIMC within the fixed-node approximation.
