Copper is considered a heavy metal that can b. toxic at certain concentrations and its presence in water is a potential threat to pub.ic health. These heavy metals also contrib.te to a remarkab.e degradation of the environment, hence the need for effective treatment methods to remove them. In this study, a mixture of titaniferous sand and calcium silicate was used as adsorb.nt material to eliminate copper in solution. The calcium silicate was synthesised from fluosilicic acid, which is a b.-product of phosphoric acid manufacture. The titaniferous sand is a residue from a mining industry. b.th adsorb.nts were characterised b. infrared spectroscopy and X-ray fluorescence to determine their compositions and physicochemical properties. The response surfaces, through the b.x-b.hnken model, were used to model and optimise various adsorption parameters, namely initial copper concentration (A: 60 - 200 mg/L), adsorb.nt dose (b. 0.1 - 0.6 g) and pH (C: 4 - 10). The copper removal efficiency (98.92%), after statistical analysis, was ob.ained under the following optimal conditions: an adsorb.nt dose of 0.55 g, an initial copper concentration of 197.25 mg/L and a pH of 9.85. The study of the effects of the operating parameters showed that they had a positive effect on the copper removal efficiency.

Aim: Evaluate the epidemiological profile of cyanotic congenital heart disease in Mali b.fore the advent of extracorporeal circulation in the “b. Surgery Department at the Pont G University Hospital. Patients and Methods: This was a retrospective and descriptive study that took place from January 1, 2011 to Decemb.r 31, 2017. The records of patients with cyanotic congenital heart disease in the “b. surgery department of Point G University Hospital were collected. Patients operated on for cyanotic congenital heart disease were included in this study. Non-operated patients were not included. Results: The records of 17 patients operated on for cyanotic congenital heart disease were retained. The average age of patients at the time of surgery was 5.18 years with extremes of 2 and 18 years. b.ys were in the majority with 59%, i.e. a sex ratio of 1.42. Patients resided in b.mako in 82% of cases. Inb.eeding was found in 35.3%. Eighty-eight percent of children were b.rn at term and 94% had up-to-date vaccination status. The average duration of patient follow-up b.tween diagnosis and surgical management was 5 years with extremes of 2 years and 12 years. Tetralogy of Fallot regular form was the most represented heart disease. Conclusion: Cyanogenic congenital heart disease remains the most frequent congenital pathologies in our country. They most often affect male children. Consanguinity is the most common etiological factor found. Tetralogy of Fallot regular form remains the most common.

b.ckground: Congenital malformations of the face are relatively frequent in the Gb.ke region (Côte d’Ivoire). Ob.ectives: Identify the epidemiological aspects, describ. the management method, distinguish the anatomical-clinical aspects and identify the therapeutic methods and their results. Material and methods: A retrospective and descriptive study was carried out over a period of 8 years (2012-2019) in the Odontostomatology and Maxillofacial Surgery Department of the University Hospital Centre (b.uaké) and in the “Jean b.ptiste Vatelot” religious hospital of b.uaké. The study concerned patients whose congenital malformations of the face had undergone primary surgery. Results: 439 patients were collected, i.e. an annual frequency of 54.88 cases per year. The sex ratio was 1.07 and the mean age was 6.82 years (range 5 months to 48 years). There were 434 (98.86%) cleft lips and palates and 5 (1.14%) Tessier’s clefts. Among the cleft lip and palate, there were 214 (49.31%) cleft lip, 127 (29.26%) cleft palate and 93 (21.43%) comb.ned cleft lip and cleft palate. Surgical treatments numb.red 532 and included 293 (55.08%) cheiloplasties, 113 (21.24%) pushb.ck uranostaphyloraphies and 90 (16.92%) doub.e flap palatoplasties. Complications were noted in 43 cases. Conclusion: Congenital malformations of the face were managed relatively late in the Gb.kè region with satisfactory results. Ante-natal diagnosis, early psychotherapy and a b.tter screening system should allow an improvement of the management.

The Gurupi b.lt(together with the São Luís cratonic fragment),in north-northeastern b.azil,has b.en describ.d in previous studies that used extensive field geology,structural analysis,airb.rne geophysics,zircon U–Pb.dating,and whole-rock Sm–Nd isotope and geochemical data as a polyphase orogenic b.lt,with the Rhyacian b.ing the main period of crust *** was related to a 2240 Ma to 2140 Ma accretionary processes that produced juvenile crust,which has sub.equently b.en reworked during a collisional event at 2100±20 Ma,with little evidence of Archean *** this study,we use Lu–Hf isotopic data in zircon from granitoids(including gneiss)of variab.e magmatic series,and amphib.lite to improve the knowledge of this scenario,and investigate additional evidence of recycling of Archean ***-collisional high b.-Sr and ferroan granitoids and amphib.lite formed in island arc(2180–2145 Ma),show only zircons with suprachondriticεHf values(ca.+1 to+8)indicating the large predominance of juvenile *** 10%of the data show slightly negativeεHf values(0 to-4),which have b.en ob.erved in granodiorite-gneiss formed in continental arc(2170–2140 Ma),and in strongly peraluminous collisional granites(2125–2070 Ma),indicating the rework of older Paleoproterozoic to Archean components(Hf_(TDM)=2.11–3.69 Ga).A two-component mixing model using b.th Hf and pub.ished Nd isotope data are in line with this interpretation and indicate more than 90%of juvenile material,and less influence of Archean *** with other Rhyacian terranes that are interpreted to have b.en close to Gurupi in a pre-Columb.a configuration(ca.2.0 Ga),our results differ from those of SEGuiana Shield,which show strong influence of Archean protoliths,and are very similar to those of the central-eastern portion of the b.oulé-Mossi Domain of the West African Craton,which has also b.en formed largely b. juvenile magmas in an accretionary-collisional orogen.
