Though the preferred welding process to weld aluminium alloy is frequently constant current gas tungsten arc welding (CCGTAW),it resulted in grain coarsening at the fusion zone and heat affected zone(HAZ).Hence,pulsed current gas tungsten arc welding(PCGTAW) was performed,to yield finer fusion zone grains,which leads to higher strength of AA6061 (Al-Mg-Si) aluminium alloy *** order to determine the most influential control factors which will yield minimum fusion zone grain size and maximum tensile strength of the joints,the traditional Hooke and Jeeves pattern search method was *** experiments were carried out based on central composite design with 31 runs and an algorithm was developed to optimize the fusion zone grain size and the tensile strength of pulsed current gas tungsten arc welded AA6061 aluminium alloy *** results indicate that the peak current (Ip) and base current (Ib) are the most significant parameters,to decide the fusion zone grain size and the tensile strength of the AA6061 aluminum alloy joints.

Functional textiles that promote daily comfort and productivity must efficiently release body sweats and transmit radiative heat through sweat evaporation and mid-infrared radiation(MIR)(8–13μm).However,most of the traditional clothing cannot provide simultaneous sweat evaporation and mid-infrared radiation transmission efficiently,leading to a poor design of personal cooling ***,an evaporative/radiative integrated functional fibrous electrospun membrane is meticulously designed and controllably fabricated via facile electrospinning technology for personal cooling *** developed membrane can be applied as a smart wearable with distinct personal thermal management *** promising temperature and humidity responsive vapor transmission of the membrane grants 1.2 times of evaporative cooling than that of traditional ***,based on its high mid-infrared radiation transmission(53%)property in the range of 8–13μm,the as-spun membrane provides extra cooling of 1.5°C than that of ***,the building energy saving performances demonstrated that 47.1%annual building cooling can be achieved using the developed electrospun *** general,the evaporative/radiative electrospun membrane creates a passive cooling microclimate for the human body,meeting the growing demand of wearable for personal cooling.

Objective:To evaluate the antitumor,cytotoxic and antioxidant activities of methanolic leaf extract of Indigofera cassioides(MEIC) against transplantable tumors and human cancer cell ***:MEIC was investigated for its short term cytotoxicity on EAC and DLA cells by trypan blue dye exclusion method and in vitro cytotoxicity on HeLa,HEp-2,HEpG-2,MCF-7, HT-29,Vero and NIH 3T3 cells by MTT *** vivo antitumor activity was studied on EAC and DLA tumor bearing *** was assessed by monitoring the mean survival time,effect on hematological parameters,antioxidant enzyme levels and solid tumor ***:MEIC exhibit potent in vitro cytotoxicity against all the tested cancer cell lines,but it was found to be safe on normal *** extract significantly(Pbearing animals which might be due to activities like scavenging of free radicals by the phytochemicals in MEIC.

Synthesis of Aligned ZnO Nanorod Array on Silicon and Sapphire Substrates by Thermal Evaporation Technique

High density ZnO nanorods were grown by thermal evaporation of Zn powder at 700℃ on Si （100） and sapphire （0001） substrates at atmospheric pressure without adding any catalyst. The nanorods were characterizated in terms of their structural and optical properties. The nanorods grown on Si have a diameter of 350-400 nm and a length of 1.2 μm while those on sapphire have a diameter of 600-800 nm and a length of 2.5 μm. During the structural characterization, it is noticed that the rods grow along the （0002） plane with perfect hexagonal facet. The room temperature photoluminescence spectrum showed a strong UV emission peak at 385 nm with a weak green band emission, which confirms that nanorods have good optical properties. It is observed that the oxygen partial pressure plays an important role to control the shape and size of the nanorods in thermal evaporation growth technique.

The magnetic field-dependent heavy hole excitonic states in a strained ***/GaAs quantum dot are investi- gated by taking into account the anisotropy, non-parabolicity of the conduction band, and the geometrical confinement. The strained quantum dot is considered as a parabolic dot of InAs embedded in a GaAs barrier material. The dependence of the effective excitonic g-factor as a function of dot radius and the magnetic field strength is numerically measured. The interband optical transition energy as a function of geometrical confinement is computed in the presence of a mag- netic field. The magnetic field-dependent oscillator strength of interband transition under the geometrical confinement is studied. The exchange enhancements as a function of dot radius are observed for various magnetic field strengths in a strained ***/GaAs quantum dot. Heavy hole excitonic absorption spectra, the changes in refractive index, and the third-order susceptibility of third-order harmonic generation are investigated in the Gao.2Ino.8As/GaAs quantum dot. The result shows that the effect of magnetic field strength is more strongly dependent on the nonlinear optical property in a low-dimensional semiconductor system.
