经过多年的研究,元话语(MD)已成为教育领域的重要概念,尤其在书面语境中得到了广泛关注。元话语允许教师在授课过程中有效地组织课堂话语,并展示个人的教学风格。尽管近年来对口语语境下元话语的研究有所增加,但在不同教育环境下仍需进一步探索其在实践中的应用。鉴于英语为媒介的教学(EMI)在全球范围内日益普及,MD在EMI课堂话语中所扮演的角色已然成为一个具有研究价值的领域。在土耳其的语境下,MD近期已成为一个备受瞩目的研究领域。然而,关于土耳其语境中口语互动中的MD的研究却相对较少。本研究旨在深入探究教师在不同EMI课程的口语教学中,对于元话语标记的分布情况以及词法实现的具体表现。研究以?del(2010)提出的元话语框架为参照,运用语料库方法进行了话语分析。通过对36小时课堂观察所收集的语料进行严谨的定性与定量分析,我们发现,在不同的EMI课程中,元话语范畴的分布与实现均呈现出一定的差异性。

Human Gait Recognition Based on Kernel PCA Using Projections

This paper presents a novel approach for human identification at a distance using gait recognition. Recognition of a person from their gait is a biometric of increasing interest. The proposed work introduces a nonlinear machine learning method, kernel Principal Component Analysis （PCA）, to extract gait features from silhouettes for individual recognition. Binarized silhouette of a motion object is first represented by four 1-D signals which are the basic image features called the distance vectors. Fourier transform is performed to achieve translation invariant for the gait patterns accumulated from silhouette sequences which are extracted from different circumstances. Kernel PCA is then used to extract higher order relations among the gait patterns for future recognition. A fusion strategy is finally executed to produce a final decision. The experiments are carried out on the CMU and the USF gait databases and presented based on the different training gait cycles.

Palmprint Recognition by Applying Wavelet-Based Kernel PCA

This paper presents a wavelet-based kernel Principal Component Analysis （PCA） method by integrating the Daubechies wavelet representation of palm images and the kernel PCA method for palmprint recognition. Kernel PCA is a technique for nonlinear dimension reduction of data with an underlying nonlinear spatial structure. The intensity values of the palmprint image are first normalized by using mean and standard deviation. The palmprint is then transformed into the wavelet domain to decompose palm images and the lowest resolution subband coefficients are chosen for palm representation. The kernel PCA method is then applied to extract non-linear features from the subband coefficients. Finally, similarity measurement is accomplished by using weighted Euclidean linear distance-based nearest neighbor classifier. Experimental results on PolyU Palmprint Databases demonstrate that the proposed approach achieves highly competitive performance with respect to the published palmprint recognition approaches.

Modeling of the Prediction of Densification Behavior of Powder Metallurgy Al–Cu–Mg/B_4C Composites Using Artificial Neural Networks

Al-Cu-Mg/B4Cp metal matrix composites with reinforcement of up to 20 wt% were produced using the powder metallurgy technique. The effects of reinforcement ratio, reinforcement size, milling time, and compact pressure on the density and porosity of the composites reinforced with 0, 5, 10, and 20 wt% B4C particles were studied. Moreover, an artificial neural network model has been developed for the prediction of the effects of the manufacturing parameters on the density and porosity of powder metallurgy Al-Cu-Mg/B4Cp composites. This model can be used for predicting the densification behavior of Al-Cu-Mg/B4Cp composites produced under reinforcement of different sizes and amounts with various milling times and compact pressures. The mean absolute percentage error for the predicted values did not exceed 1.6%.

The prediction of nuclear cross-section data is crucial, especially in the absence of experimental data or in the difficulty of these experimental data. Nickel(Ni) is an important material in fusion and fission reactor technologies, the production of radionuclides in nuclear medicine,and many other fields. In this study, the excitation functions for^(60,62) Ni(a,n),^(60,61) Ni(a,2 n),^(58,64) Ni(a,p), and ^(nat)Ni(a,x) reactions have been investigated by using preequilibrium reaction models. The calculations of the excitation functions for the reactions are used with the geometry-dependent hybrid model in ALICE/ASH code and the two-component exciton model in TALYS 1.8 code. The obtained results are compared to each other, and the experimental data are taken from the EXFOR database.

Investigating the surface integrity of aluminium based composites machined by EDM

In the present work, the surface characteristics of Electrical Discharge Machined (EDM) Al (6351)eSiC and Al (6351)eSiCeB4C composites are investigated. The composites are prepared by employing the conventional stir casting technique, as it can produce better particle dispersion in the matrix. The detailed experimental study is performed on the composites by varying current (I), duty factor (t), pulse on time (Ton), and the gap voltage (V) in order to analyze the Heat Affected Zone (HAZ) formed in the sub surface and the average crater diameter formed on the machined surface of the composites as an output function. The formation of recast layers, presence of bubbles and the surface texture of the composites at various machining conditions are observed. The results show that the increased Metal Removal Rate (MRR) increases the depth of HAZ and the average crater diameter on the machined area. Further, the addition of B4C particles to the composite produces more surface defect than the AleSiC composite.

Evaluation of the effects of acyclovir and/or human amniotic membrane on herpes virus culture and quantitative virus inactivity by real-time polymerase chain reaction

·AIM: To investigate the permeability of amniotic membrane in herpes virus cell culture to acyclovir with real time polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR).·METHODS: Madin-Darby Bovine Kidney(MDBK) cell culture and Bovine Herpes Virus(BHV1) type 1 were used in the study. Cell cultures were grouped into two on the basis of herpes virus inoculation. Each group was sub-grouped into three. Amniotic membrane(V-HAM),acyclovir(V-A), and amniotic membrane and acyclovir(V-HAM-A) were applied to these subgroup cultures,respectively. After the application of the membrane and the drug, the cultures were evaluated at 24 and 48 h for cytopathic effect positive(CPE +) with a tissue culture microscope. In the CPE(+) samples, the DNA was extracted for viral DNA analysis by RT-PCR.·RESULTS: In control cultures without herpes virus CPE was not detected. Besides, amniotic membrane and acyclovir did not have cytotoxic effect on cell *** were detected in Bovine Herpesvirus type-1inoculated cell cultures after amniotic membrane and/or acyclovir application. DNA analysis with RT-PCR indicated that Cycle threshold(Ct) values were lower in the BHV1 and membrane applied group(amniotic membrane group < acyclovir group < membrane and acyclovir group). This showed that membrane did not have antiviral effect. The membrane and acyclovir cell culture groups with high Ct values indicated thatmembrane was permeable and had a low barrier effect to drug.·CONCLUSION: In our in-vitro study, we found that amniotic membrane, which can be used in the treatment of corneal diseases, did not have antiviral effect. Besides,we detected that amniotic membrane was permeable to acyclovir in BHV-1 inoculated MDBK cell ***, more studies are necessary to investigate the quantitative effects of amniotic membrane and acyclovir.

Comparison of Coronary Bypass Grafting Surgery with Carotid Endarterectomy and Coronary Bypass Grafting Surgery

Introduction: Treatment of combined coronary artery surgery (CABG) and severe carotid artery stenosis is still controversial. The decision of surgical priority can change according to the severity of the coronary artery disease or carotid artery disease at staged surgery. The aim of the study is to compare the outcomes of simultaneous surgery (CEA + CABG) and CABG alone at our department. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the CABG and CEA + CABG patients which were performed between 2010 and 2015. If the patients had simultaneous another operation, they were excluded from the study. A total of 294 patients (252 CABG patients and 42 combined surgery patients), were retrospectively examined. Results: Two patients in CABG group and two patients in CABG + CEA group developed stroke. There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in terms of early stroke rate (p > 0.05). One patient in CEA + CABG group and three patients in CABG group died. The average carotid clamp time was 19.93 ± 5.06 minutes. Aortic clamp times were 42.89 ± 6.38 minutes in CABG and 42.81 ± 5.70 minutes in CEA + CABG patients. Results of the two groups were similar. Conclusion: Combined CEA and CABG can be performed successfully and safely in patients.
