A hierarchical optimisation framework for pigmented lesion diagnosis

The study of training hyperparameters optimisation problems remains underexplored in skin lesion *** is the first report of using hierarchical optimisation to improve computational effort in a four-dimensional search space for the *** authors explore training parameters selection in optimising the learning process of a model to differentiate pigmented lesions *** the authors'demonstration,pretrained GoogleNet is fine-tuned with a full training set by varying hyperparameters,namely epoch,mini-batch value,initial learning rate,and gradient *** iterative search of the optimal global-local solution is by using the derivative-based *** authors used non-parametric one-way ANOVA to test whether the classification accuracies differed for the variation in the training *** authors identified the mini-batch size and initial learning rate as parameters that significantly influence the model's learning *** authors'results showed that a small fraction of combinations(5%)from constrained global search space,in contrarily to 82%at the local level,can converge with early stopping *** mean(standard deviation,SD)validation accuracies increased from 78.4(4.44)%to 82.9(1.8)%using the authors'*** fine-tuned model's performance measures evaluated on a testing dataset showed classification accuracy,precision,sensitivity,and specificity of 85.3%,75.6%,64.4%,and 97.2%,*** authors'system achieves an overall better diagnosis performance than four state-of-the-art approaches via an improved search of parameters for a good adaptation of the model to the authors'*** extended experiments also showed its superior performance consistency across different deep networks,where the overall classification accuracy increased by 5%with this *** approach reduces the risk of search being trapped in a suboptimal solution,and its use may be expanded to network architecture optimisation for

This work presents the use of extended Modified Lambert Beer(MLB)model for accurate andcontinuous monitoring of percent blood carboxyhemoglobin(COHb)(SCO)and oxyhemoglobin(OxyHb)saturation(SO,)via a fitting *** quantification technique is based on theabsorption characteristics of hemoglobin derivatives in the wavelength range of 520-600 nm togive the best estimates of the required parameters.A comparison of the performance of the developed model and MILB law is made using attenuation data from Monte Carlo simulations for a two-layered skin *** results revealed a lower mean absolute error of 0.4%in the valuesestimated by the developed model as compared to 10%that is given by the MILB *** studyshowed that the discussed approach is able to provide consistent and accurate measurement ofblood SO,and SCO across diferent skin pigmen tations suggesting that it may potentially be usedas an alternative means for clinical diagnosis of carbon monoxide(CO)poisoning.

Multispectral imaging of acute wound tissue oxygenation

This paper investigates the appropriate range of values for the transcutaneous blood oxygen saturation(StO2)of granulating tissues and the surrounding tissue that can ensure timely wound *** work has used a multispectral imaging system to collect wound images at wave-lengths ranging between 520 nm and 600 nm with a resolution of 10 *** part of this research,a pilot study was conducted on three injured individuals with superfcial wounds of different wound ages at different skin *** S_(t)O_(2)value predicted for the examined wounds using the Extended Modified Lambert-Beer model revealed a mean S_(t)O_(2)of 61±10.3%compared to 41.6±6.2%at the surrounding tissues,and 50.1±1.53%for control *** preliminary results contribute to the existing knowledge on the possible range and variation of wound bed S_(t)O_(2)that are to be used as indicators of the functioning of the vasomotion system and wound *** study has concluded that a high S_(t)O_(2)of approximately 60%and a large fuctuation in this value should precede a good progression in wound healing.

Evolution Performance of Symbolic Radial Basis Function Neural Network by Using Evolutionary Algorithms

Radial Basis Function Neural Network(RBFNN)ensembles have long suffered from non-efficient training,where incorrect parameter settings can be computationally *** paper examines different evolutionary algorithms for training the Symbolic Radial Basis Function Neural Network(SRBFNN)through the behavior’s integration of satisfiability *** by evolutionary algorithms,which can iteratively find the nearoptimal solution,different Evolutionary Algorithms(EAs)were designed to optimize the producer output weight of the SRBFNN that corresponds to the embedded logic programming 2Satisfiability representation(SRBFNN-2SAT).The SRBFNN’s objective function that corresponds to Satisfiability logic programming can be minimized by different algorithms,including Genetic Algorithm(GA),Evolution Strategy Algorithm(ES),Differential Evolution Algorithm(DE),and Evolutionary Programming Algorithm(EP).Each of these methods is presented in the steps in the flowchart form which can be used for its straightforward implementation in any programming *** the use of SRBFNN-2SAT,a training method based on these algorithms has been presented,then training has been compared among algorithms,which were applied in Microsoft Visual C++software using multiple metrics of performance,including Mean Absolute Relative Error(MARE),Root Mean Square Error(RMSE),Mean Absolute Percentage Error(MAPE),Mean Bias Error(MBE),Systematic Error(SD),Schwarz Bayesian Criterion(SBC),and Central Process Unit time(CPU time).Based on the results,the EP algorithm achieved a higher training rate and simple structure compared with the rest of the *** has been confirmed that the EP algorithm is quite effective in training and obtaining the best output weight,accompanied by the slightest iteration error,which minimizes the objective function of SRBFNN-2SAT.

Vonoprazan-amoxicillin dual regimen with Saccharomyces boulardii as a rescue therapy for Helicobacter pylori:Current perspectives and implications

Yu et al’s study in the World Journal of Gastroenterology(2023)introduced a novel regimen of Vonoprazan-amoxicillin dual therapy combined with Saccharomyces boulardii(***)for the rescue therapy against Helicobacter pylori(***),a pathogen responsible for peptic ulcers and gastric *** is a potassium-competitive acid blocker renowned for its rapid and long-lasting acid suppression,which is minimally affected by *** to proton pump inhibitors,which bind irreversibly to cysteine residues in the H+/K+-ATPase pump,Vonoprazan competes with the K+ions,prevents the ions from binding to the pump and blocks acid *** with increasing antibiotic resistance,effects on the gut microbiota,patient compliance,and side effects have led to the advent of a dual regimen for *** studies suggested that *** plays a role in stabilizing the gut barrier which improves *** eradication *** an acceptable safety profile,the dual-adjunct regimen was effective regardless of prior treatment failure and antibiotic resistance profile,thereby strengthening the applicability in clinical ***,*** comes in various formulations and dosages,warranting further exploration into the optimal dosage for supplementation in rescue ***,larger,randomized,double-blinded controlled trials are warranted to confirm these promising results.
