Evaluation of Serum Iron, Zinc and Their Relationships with Glycemic Control Status in Iranian Elderly Women with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus

It seems that defects on micro-minerals levels have an etiologic role involved in type 1 diabetes mellitus pathogenicity. The aim of our study were to evaluate the serum levels of zinc and iron and investigate their possible relationship between these biochemical parameters with demographic conditions and glycemic control in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus disorder. In this case-control based study, 68 female with type 1 diabetes mellitus with a mean age of 52.2 ± 2 as case group and 122 healthy women as a control group with a mean age of 49/4 ± 3/2 were investigated. for biochemical analysis,10 mL fasting venous blood sample were obtained from each subjects. FBS (fasting blood glucose), fructosamine (glycemic control parameter) were determined (spectrophotometry method, (pars azmoon, Iran), nitroblue tetrazoline method respectively). serum zinc level with colorimetric method (Biorex-UK) and serum iron with photometric method (pars azmoon, Iran) were determined. Statistical analysis using SPSS software performed. Significant levels considered as P < 0.05. According to this study there is statistically significant difference between serum levels of iron and zinc in patients with type 1 diabetes compared to controls. indeed serum level of iron and zinc had lower level in patient group toward controls. In patients group, there are a positive correlation between age and decreased level of serum zinc (P < 0.05). Also there was a significant negative correlation between the glycemic control status and serum zinc. Other studied parameters concluded BMI (body mass index), Weight and height have not significant difference between groups. The decrease in serum iron and zinc level in women with type 1 diabetes may be related to low dietary intake or increased excretion of micro minerals or the presence of confounding factors that require more extensive intervention studies to confirm it.

由于环境与人为等因素的长期影响,木结构古建筑普遍存在倾斜歪闪等损伤问题,严重影响了古木建筑的安全,亟需纠偏修复。研究尝试提出一种整体纠偏方法,构建木构架结构纠偏理论计算模型,通过数值模拟方法分析了纠偏过程的可行性,并以某多层木结构建筑的纠偏复位过程为例加以验证。结果表明:纠偏后结构楼层偏移明显减小,纠偏过程中主要结构构件仍然处于弹性范围内,纠偏效果良好,可为同类古建木构架纠偏理论研究提供借鉴。

For a long time since their discovery by Christian de Duve in the 1950s,lysosomes have been referred to almost exclusively as passive garbage bags;the endpoint in the degradation of intra-and extracellular *** catabolic function of lysosomes is accomplished by an array of more than 60 acid hydrolases,which together break down a wide variety of biological macromolecules,including proteins,lipids,carbohydrates,and nucleic acids,for reutilization in the metabolic processes of the *** their optimal function,these enzymes require an acidic intraluminal pH of~4.5,which is maintained by the joint action of a proton pump,the vacuolar H+-ATPase,and several ion channels embedded in the lysosomal limiting membrane.

Lack of transcriptional coordination between mitochondrial and nuclear oxidative phosphorylation genes in the presence of two divergent mitochondrial genomes

In most eukaryotes,oxidative phosphorylation(OXPHOS)is the main energy production process and it involves both mitochondrial and nuclear *** close interaction between the two genomes is critical for the coordinated function of the OXPHOS *** bivalves show doubly uniparental inheritance(DUI)of mitochondria,where two highly divergent mitochondrial genomes,one inherited through eggs(F-type)and the other through sperm(M-type),coexist in the same ***,it remains a puzzle how nuclear OXPHOS genes coordinate with two divergent mitochondrial genomes in DUI *** this study,we compared transcription,polymorphism,and synonymous codon usage in the mitochondrial and nuclear OXPHOS genes of the DUI species Ruditapes philippinarum using sex-and tissue-specific *** and nuclear OXPHOS genes showed different transcription *** co-transcription signal was observed within mitochondrial(separate for F-and M-type)and within nuclear OXPHOS genes but the signal was weak or absent between mitochondrial and nuclear OXPHOS genes,suggesting that the coordination between mitochondrial and nuclear OXPHOS subunits is not achieved ***-Kreitman and frequency-spectrum based tests indicated that M-type OXPHOS genes deviated significantly from neutrality,and that F-type and M-type OXPHOS genes undergo different selection *** usage analysis revealed that mutation bias and translational selection were the major factors affecting the codon usage bias in different OXPHOS genes,nevertheless,translational selection in mitochondrial OXPHOS genes appears to be less efficient than nuclear OXPHOS ***,we speculate that the coordination between OXPHOS genes may involve post-transcriptional/translational regulation.

Stillbirth is a devastating pregnancy complication that still affects many women,particularly from low and middle-income *** is often labeled as“unexplained”and therefore unpreventable,despite the knowledge that placental dysfunction has been identified as a leading cause of antepartum ***,screening for pregnancies at high-risk for placental dysfunction relies on checklists of maternal risk factors and serial measurement of symphyseal-fundal height to identify small for gestational age *** recently,the first-trimester combined screening algorithm developed by the Fetal Medicine Foundation has emerged as a better tool to predict and prevent early-onset placental dysfunction and its main outcomes of preterm preeclampsia,fetal growth restriction and stillbirth by the appropriate use of Aspirin therapy,serial growth scans and induction of labour from 40 weeks for women identified at high-risk by such *** is currently no equivalent to predict and prevent late-onset placental dysfunction,although algorithms combining an ultrasound-based estimation of fetal weight,assessment of maternal and fetal Doppler indices,and maternal serum biomarkers show promise as emerging new screening tools to optimize pregnancy monitoring and timing of delivery to prevent *** this review we discuss the strategies to predict and prevent stillbirths based on firsttrimester screening as well as fetal growth and wellbeing assessment in the second and third trimesters.

ON THE DIFFUSION PHENOMENON OF QUASILINEAR HYPERBOLIC WAVES

The authors consider the asymptotic behavior of solutions of the quasilinear hyperbolic equation with linear damping u_tt+ u_t - div (a(u)u) = 0, and show that, at least when n ≥ 3, they tend, as t - +∞, to those of the nonlinear parabolic equation v_t - div (a(v)v) = 0, in the sense that the norm ||u(., t) - v(., t) ||L∞ (R^n) of the difference u - v decays faster than that of either u or v. This provides another example of the diffusion phenomenon of nonlinear hyperbolic waves, first observed by Hsiao, L. and Liu Taiping (see [1, 2]).

Power Maximization of A Point Absorber Wave Energy Converter Using Improved Model Predictive Control

This paper considers controlling and maximizing the absorbed power of wave energy converters for irregular waves. With respect to physical constraints of the system, a model predictive control is applied. Irregular waves’ behavior is predicted by Kalman filter method. Owing to the great influence of controller parameters on the absorbed power, these parameters are optimized by imperialist competitive algorithm. The results illustrate the method’s efficiency in maximizing the extracted power in the presence of unknown excitation force which should be predicted by Kalman filter.

Almost Global Strong Solutions to Quasilinear Dissipative Evolution Equations

The author proves a global existence result for strong solutions to the quasilinear dissipative hyperbolic equation (1.1) below, corresponding to initial values and source terms of arbitrary size, provided that the hyperbolicity parameter ε is sufficiently small. This implies a corresponding global existence result for the reduced quasilinear parabolic equation (1.4) below.

Food and Agriculture Organization(FAO)is appealing for a global implementation of urban agricultural strate-gies to increase food ***,a city in Indonesia,is already participating in this *** research aimed to assess the contribution of urban agriculture toward household food fulfillment and ***,the impacts on urban,subsistence,semi-commercial,and commercial agriculture were ***-depth interviews to obtain qualitative data and observations were also utilized.A survey of 321 households,consisting of 107 for each urban agricultural type,used questionnaires to obtain quantitative *** inputs were further analyzed to determine the contribution of household food fulfillment and *** results showed that average urban agriculture has an insignificant and significant contribution of 9%and 41.5%to household food fulfillment and *** was due to the vast complexities of metropolitan problems,including limited access to land,lack of participation,dependence on on-market products,and increasing commercialization which opposed urban agricultural policies。

Cross-focusing of two chirped Gaussian laser beams and THz wave generation in plasmas of multi-ion species under a weakly relativistic and ponderomotive regime

The generation of terahertz(THz)waves via the beating of two high-intensity chirped Gaussian lasers in a multi-ion-species plasma is numerically studied by taking into account the weak relativistic and ponderomotive regime of *** coupled differential equations for beamwidth parameters are extracted by introducing the dielectric function of such plasma and using WKB and paraxial ray *** amplitude of THz radiation at beat frequency resulting from the nonlinear current density induced by the beat ponderomotive force of the cross-focusing of beams was *** impacts of the chirp frequency parameter,initial laser intensity and initial ionic species density(specifically,the presence of singly and doubly charged ions)in the plasma on THz generation were *** numerical results reveal that THz radiation generation strongly depends on the chirp frequency parameter.A specific range of chirp frequencies exists for self-focusing as well as THz generation with a'turning point',where the THz emission reaches its maximum *** results show that the strength of self-focusing and consequently the generated THz radiation are reduced by increasing the density of doubly charged ionic species in the plasma due to the suppression of the nonlinear effects.
