Photonic integrated circuits are emerging as a promising platform for accelerating matrix multiplications in deep learning,leveraging the inherent parallel nature of *** various schemes have been proposed and demonstrated to realize such photonic matrix accelerators,the in situ training of artificial neural networks using photonic accelerators remains challenging due to the difficulty of direct on-chip backpropagation on a photonic *** this work,we propose a silicon microring resonator(MRR)optical crossbar array with a symmetric structure that allows for simple on-chip backpropagation,potentially enabling the acceleration of both the inference and training phases of deep *** demonstrate a 4×4 circuit on a Si-on-insulator platform and use it to perform inference tasks of a simple neural network for classifying iris flowers,achieving a classification accuracy of 93.3%.Subsequently,we train the neural network using simulated on-chip backpropagation and achieve an accuracy of 91.1%in the same inference task after ***,we simulate a convolutional neural network for handwritten digit recognition,using a 9×9 MRR crossbar array to perform the convolution *** work contributes to the realization of compact and energy-efficient photonic accelerators for deep learning.

Background and Aim: Toll-like receptor (TLR) 2 and TLR4 are cell surface signaling receptors that are involved in the recognition of and host response to Helicobacter pylori. Our aim was to investigate the association between TLR gene polymorphisms and susceptibility of Japanese subjects to 4 H. pylori-related gastrointestinal diseases. Methodology: A total of 100 patients with histologically diagnosed gastric cancer, 105 patients with gastric ulcer, 102 with atrophic gastritis, 72 with duodenal ulcer and 428 healthy controls were recruited. A TaqMan assay was used to genotype 7 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in TLR2 and 6 SNPs in TLR4. Results: There was a tendency for TLR4 rs10759932 TC/CC genotypes to be associated with a decreased risk of gastric cancer (p = 0.059);however, this did not reach statistical significance. No significant associations were found between polymorphisms in TLR2 or TLR4 and the risks for gastric cancer, gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, or atrophic gastritis. Conclusion: The 13 SNPs inTLR2 and TLR4 examined in this study may not be linked with the development of H. pylori-related gastrointestinal diseases. Further studies with larger numbers of subjects are necessary to verify the present findings.

A time-resolved x-ray diffraction technique is employed to monitor the structural transformation of laser-shocked *** reveal a retarded transformation from the shock-induced Bi-Ⅴphase to a metastable Bi-Ⅳphase during the shock release,instead of the thermodynamically stable Bi-Ⅲ*** emergence of the metastable Bi-Ⅳphase is understood by the competitive interplay between two transformation pathways towards the Bi-Ⅳand Bi-Ⅲ,*** former is more rapid than the latter because the Bi-Ⅴto B-Ⅳtransformation is driven by interaction between the closest atoms while the Bi-Ⅴto B-Ⅲtransformation requires interaction between the second-closest *** nucleation time for the Bi-Ⅴto Bi-Ⅳtransformation is determined to be 5.1±0.9 ns according to a classical nucleation *** observation demonstrates the importance of the formation of the transient metastable phases,which can change the phase transformation pathway in a dynamic process.

This study focuses on variations in the hysteretic behavior of buckling-restrained braces(BRBs)configured with or without out-of-plane eccentricity under cyclic ***-static experiments and numerical simulations were carried out on concentrically and eccentrically loaded BRB specimens to investigate the mechanical properties,energy dissipation performance,stress distribution,and high-order deformation *** experimental and numerical results showed that compared to the concentrically loaded BRBs,the stiffness,yield force,cumulated plastic ductility(CPD)coefficient,equivalent viscous damping coefficient and energy dissipation decreased,and the yield displacement and compression strength adjustment factor increased for the eccentrically loaded *** the existence of the out-of-plane eccentricity,the initial yield position changes from the yield segment to the junction between the yield segment and transition segment under a tensile load,while the initial high-order buckling pattern changes from a first-order C-shape to a secondorder S-shape under a compressive load.

Research Background and Purpose: The number of diabetic patients is rapidly increasing, making it crucial to find methods to prevent diabetic retinopathy (DR), a leading cause of blindness. We investigated the effects of prophylactic pattern scanning laser retinal photocoagulation on DR development in Spontaneously Diabetic Torii (SDT) fatty rats as a new prevention approach. Methods: Photocoagulation was applied to the right eyes of 8-week-old Spontaneously Diabetic Torii (SDT) fatty rats, with the left eyes serving as untreated controls. Electroretinography at 9 and 39 weeks of age and pathological examinations, including immunohistochemistry for vascular endothelial growth factor and glial fibrillary acidic protein at 24 and 40 weeks of age, were performed on both eyes. Results: There were no significant differences in amplitude and prolongation of the OP waves between the right and left eyes in SDT fatty rats at 39 weeks of age. Similarly, no significant differences in pathology and immunohistochemistry were observed between the right and left eyes in SDT fatty rats at 24 and 40 weeks of age. Conclusion: Prophylactic pattern scanning retinal laser photocoagulation did not affect the development of diabetic retinopathy in SDT fatty rats.

Electric contact discharge is subject closely related to digital information transmission, and integrity of digital signals for realizing high reliablility transmission. This kind of problem is a part of EMC (electromagnetic compatibility). From such a viewpoint, contact noise problems will be mentioned which disturb and degrade digital signals. The induction noise and radiation noise from discharge, electrostatic discharge (ESD), and connector related fundamental subject will be mentioned.

In this study,molten salt was used as a solvent for calcium(Ca)to let a reduction-diffusion(R-D)reaction occur below the melting point of Ca(1115 K),which is the lower limit temperature of the co nventional RD *** the R-D reaction is conducted below 923 K with LiCl molten salt,submicron-sized TbCu_(7)-type Sm-Fe powder is *** c/a ratio of the powder estimated by a synchrotron X-ray diffraction pattern is 0.8456,which is consistent with the Sm_(0.67)Fe_(5.667)(SmFe_(8.5))*** electron backscatter diffraction analysis reveals that single-crystalline TbCu_(7)-type SmFe_(8.5) powder was synthesized for the first time.

This paper shows the method of estimating spatiotemporal distribution of pedestrians by using watch cameras. We estimate the distribution without tracking technology, with pedestrian＇s privacy protected and in Umeda underground mall. Lately spatiotemporal distribution of pedestrians has being increasingly important in the field of urban planning, disaster prevention planning, marketing and so on. Although many researchers have tried to capture the information of location as dealing with some sensors, some problems still remain, such as the investment of sensors, the restriction of the number of people who has the device they are able to capture. From such background, we develop an original labelling algorithm and estimate the spatiotemporal distribution of pedestrians and the information of the passing time and the direction of pedestrians from sequential images of a watch camera.

The risk of wind waves in a bay is often overlooked,owing to the belief that peninsulas and islands will inhibit high ***,during the passage of a tropical cyclone,a semi-enclosed bay is exposed to twodirectional waves:one generated inside the bay and the other propagated from the outer *** Faxai in 2019 resulted in the worst coastal disaster in Tokyo Bay in the last few *** authors conducted a post-disaster survey immediately after this *** modeling was also performed to reveal the mechanisms of unusual high *** significant high-wave damage occurred on coasts facing the Pacific *** contrast,Fukuura-Yokohama,which faces Tokyo Bay,suffered overtopping waves that collapsed *** precisely reproduce multi-directional waves,the authors developed an extended parametric typhoon model,which was embedded in the JMA mesoscale meteorological model(JMA-MSM).The peak wave height was estimated to be 3.4 m off the coast of Fukuura,in which the contribution of the outer-sea waves was as low as 10%–20%.A fetchlimited wave developed over a short distance in the bay is considered the primary mechanism of the high *** maximum wave occurred on the left-hand side of the typhoon track in the bay,which appears to be contrary to the common understanding that it is safer within the semicircle of a storm than on the opposite *** Faxai was a small typhoon;however,if the radius was tripled,it is estimated that the wave height would exceed 3 m over the entire bay and surpass 4 m off the coasts of Yokohama and Chiba.
