Modelling the Impact and Effects of Climatic Variability on Electricity Energy Consumption in the Yendi Municipality of Ghana

One of the cherished assets of every economy is electricity since it has proven to be the major source of energy for industrialization. Developing economies like Ghana have suffered the downside of poor management of the already inadequate electrical energy at its disposal. This is as a result of limited research into factors that influences electricity energy consumption, most importantly, the effects of climatic variables on electricity energy consumption. This research work explores the causal connection between climatic variables and electricity energy consumption, and develops a Vector Auto Regression (VAR) model to determine the influence of the climatic variables in forecasting electricity energy consumption in Yendi Municipality in the northern region of Ghana. The climatic factors considered in this work are;Rainfall (Rain), maximum temperature (Tmax), Sunshine (Sun), Wind (wind) and Relative Humidity (RH). The Granger causality tests employed in this work revealed that aside from Relative Humidity, the end energy consumption is affected by the other four climatic factors under consideration. The impulse response was used to ascertain the active interaction among electricity energy consumption and the climatic variables. The impulse response of electricity energy consumption to the climatic variables indicates a maximum positive effect of Temperature and Sunshine on electricity energy consumption in March and September respectively. The VAR model was also used in forecasting future consumption of electricity energy. The results indicate excellent forecasts of electricity energy consumption for the first four months of 2019.

目的:探讨中药蔓荆子中主要成分紫花牡荆素的抗炎作用。方法:通过急性抗炎模型——二甲苯致小鼠耳廓肿胀实验、鸡蛋清致大鼠足跖肿胀实验以及腹腔注射0.7%醋酸致小鼠腹腔毛细血管通透性增高的实验,观察紫花牡荆素的抗炎作用。结果:紫花牡荆素对二甲苯所致小鼠耳廊肿胀、鸡蛋清所致大鼠足肿胀以及醋酸所致小鼠毛细血管通透性增加均有明显的抑制作用。结论:紫花牡荆素具有明显的体内抗炎作用,为蔓荆子抗炎作用的有效成分。

Drought is one of the critical conditions for the growth and productivity of many crops including mung bean(Vigna radiata ***).Screening of genotypes for variations is one of the suitable strategies for evaluating crop adaptability and global food *** this context,the study investigated the physiological and biochemical responses of four drought tolerant(BARI Mung-8,BMX-08010-2,BMX-010015,BMX-08009-7),and four drought sensitive(BARI Mung-1,BARI Mung-3,BU Mung-4,BMX-05001)mung bean genotypes under wellwatered(WW)and water deficit(WD)*** WW treatment maintained sufficient soil moisture(22%±0.5%,i.e.,30%deficit of available water)by regularly supplying ***,the WD treatment was maintained throughout the growing period,and water was applied when the wilting symptom *** drought tolerant(DT)genotypes BARI Mung-8,BMX-08010-2,BMX-010015,BMX-08009-7 showed a high level of proline accumulation(2.52–5.99 mg g^(−1) FW),photosynthetic pigment(total chlorophyll 2.96–3.27 mg g^(−1) FW at flowering stage,and 1.62–2.38 mg g^(−1) FW at pod developing stage),plant water relation attributes including relative water content(RWC)(82%–84%),water retention capacity(WRC)(12–14)as well as lower water saturation deficit(WSD)(19%–23%),and water uptake capacity(WUC)(2.58–2.89)under WD condition,which provided consequently higher relative seed *** indicate that the tolerant genotypes gained better physiobiochemical attributes and adaptability in response to drought ***,the genotype BMX-08010-2 showed superiority in terms of those physio-biochemical traits,susceptibility index(SSI)and stress tolerance index(STI)to other *** on the physiological and biochemical responses,the BMX-08010-2 was found to be a suitable genotype for sustaining yield under drought stress,and subsequently,it could be recommended for crop improvement through hybridization *** addition,the identified traits can be used as markers to ide

Biological investigations of medicinal plants of Heliotropium indicum indigenous to Bangladesh

Objective:To investigate the clot lysis,antimicrobic and membrane stabilizing potentials of ethanolic extractives of the leaves of Heliotropium indicum(***).Methods:Crude ethanolic extracts of *** leaves were partitioned successively using solvents of different polarity and subjected to determine qualitatively and quantitatively for the presence of different bioactive constitutes and fractions which were assessed for their possible clot lysis,antimicrobic,and membrane stabilizing activities as compared with the known ***:For the thrombolytic activity,the petroleum ether soluble fraction showed the highest percent of clot lysis(35.4%)among all fractions,while streptokinase and water resulted in 65.15%and 3.77%clot lysis,*** respect to the membrane stabilizing activity,carbon tetrachloride soluble fraction of *** profoundly interdicted the hemolysis of erythrocytes brought about by osmotic induction(39.24%)or by heat(40.20%).The other fractions exhibited less significant membrane stabilizing *** contrast,acetylsalicylic acid resulted in 72.25%±0.30%inhibition of osmotically induced hemolysis and showed a lower level of protection of heat induced hemolysis(42.56%).Crude ethanolic extracts were moderately sensitive against known pathogenic *** pharmacological activities of *** are due to the presence of bioactive compounds,we detected and quantified the presence of significant levels of flavonoid and tannin ***:The outcomes of this research show that the leaves of *** have the potential to be used as a remedy for thrombosis,inflammatory diseases and against few important bacterial pathogens.

AIM:To characterize the relationship between depression and epilepsy-related seizures,treatment,hormonal and biological ***:Included were 200 Egyptian adults(male=100,female=100)with epilepsy(mean age:30.87±7.88 years;duration of illness:13.89±7.64 years)and 100 healthy matched subjects for *** interview,Beck Depression Inventory(BDIII)and Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale(HAM-A)were used to assess depression and *** levels of free testosterone,sex hormone binding globulin,prolactin,free thyroxin and thyroid stimulating hormone,serotonin,noradrenaline and adrenaline neurotransmitters were measured to assess endocrine and biological ***:Patients had higher rates of depressive disorder(25.5%or 51/200),mostly intermixed with anxiety(47.06%),psychotic features(19.61%),aggression(40%)and suicide(55%).Compared to controls,higher scores on the BDI-II were observed with right-sided epileptic foci(P=0.011),polytherapy(P=0.001)and lack of control on antiepileptic drugs(AEDs)(P=0.0001).Patients had lower levels of serotonin(P=0.001)[marked with depression(P=0.012)]and adrenaline(P=0.0001),while noradrenaline was lower with temporal lobe epilepsy(P=0.039),left-sided foci(P=0.047)and lack of control on AEDs(P=0.017).Negative correlations were observed between levels of serotonin and BDI-II(P=0.048)and HAM-A(P=0.009)scores,but not with AEDs dose or drug ***:Comorbid depressive disorder with epilepsy appears to be closely related to seizure type,focus,side,intractability to medications and neurotransmitter ***,optimizing seizure control and early recognition and management of depression is necessary to improve patients’quality of life.

River water and sediment embody environmental characteristics that give valuable eco-environmental *** to rapid industrialization,the aquatic environment of any urban river can be seriously polluted by heavy metals(HMs).The global concern is caused by heavy metal pollution because of its potential harm to aquatic ecosystems and human *** the Bhairab River,Bangladesh,surface sediment concentrations of globally alarming toxic metals such as arsenic(As),chromium(Cr),cadmium(Cd),and lead(Pb) were measured to determine the ecological and human health risks of the riverine *** average As,Cr,Cd,and Pb concentrations in water were 3.55,31.74,1.44,and23.82 μg/L,respectively,and in sediment were 4.13,34.17,1.66,and 25.46 mg/kg,*** the winter,metals in sediment were higher than during the *** most sediment samples,the enrichment factor(EF),contamination factor(CF),geoaccumulation index(I),pollution load index(PLI) of As,Cr,Cd,and Pb indicated moderate *** potential ecological risk(PER) in sediment followed the descending order of Cd> As> Pb> *** contamination level of toxic metals implied that the condition is frightening and probably severely affecting the aquatic ecology of this riverine ecosystem.

目的:研究中药苍耳子(FructusXanthii)中的化学成分;测定不同居群和不同品种苍耳属植物果实中的总酚酸含量以评价其品质。方法:运用各种层析方法分离纯化化合物,以绿原酸作对照,用紫外分光光度法测定总酚酸的含量。结果:(1)从苍耳子中分离到6个咖啡酰奎宁酸类化合物,以及咖啡酸和阿魏酸;(2)从中国29个居群采集到的样品,总酚酸含量为0.31%～1.44%。在采集到2个品种及1个变种的苍耳属植物中,近无刺苍耳***样品的总酚酸含量较其他两种都偏低。苍耳***样品中,从上海采集的3号苍耳子样品总酚酸含量最高,达1.44%,而从江西新建采集的12号样品含量最低,仅0.38%。结论:5O咖啡酰奎宁酸,1,4-二O咖啡酰奎宁酸和4,5二O咖啡酰奎宁酸是从苍耳属植物中首次分离获得。不同品种和不同居群苍耳子药材中,总酚酸含量的差异较为显著。若以总酚酸含量作为指标评价苍耳子药材的品质,则认为上海和福建三明产苍耳子为优质种群。

Background:Many kinds of orchids have significant health benefits although ade-quate research on their biological functions is yet to be carried *** study inves-tigated the paracetamol-induced liver damage-protecting effect of epiphytic Aerides odorata methanol extract(AODE).Methods:The protective effects of AODE were studied by analyzing its effect on liver function parameters,messenger RNA(mRNA)expression,and tissue histopatho-logical *** results were confirmed by ligand-receptor interaction of molecular docking and multitarget interaction of network pharmacological ***:AODE significantly(patase,aspartate aminotransferase,alanine aminotransferase,alkaline phos-phatase,γ-glutamyl transferase,lactate dehydrogenase,and total bilirubin compared to the reference drug *** level decreased,and the antioxidant genes catalase(CAT),superoxide dismutase(SOD),β-actin,paraoxonase-1(PON1),and phosphofructokinase-1(PFK-1)were upregulated in AODE-treated paracetamol-intoxicated rats.A total of 376 compounds comprising phenols and flavonoids were identified using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight-mass spectrometry(UPLC-qTOF-MS).The online toxicity assessment using SwissADME and admetSAR exhibited drug-like,nontoxic,and potential pharmaco-logical ***,in silico analysis showed that isoacteoside,one of the identified compounds,exhibited the best docking score(−11.42)with the liver pro-tein human pituitary adenylate cyclase-1(Protein Data Bank ID:3N94).Furthermore,network pharmacology analysis identified the top 10 hub genes,namely AKT1(protein kinase B),CTNNB1(catenin beta-1),SRC(proto-oncogene c-Src),TNF(tumor necrosis factor),EGFR(epidermal growth factor receptor),HSP90AA1(heat shock protein 90α),MAPK3(mitogen-activated protein kinase 3),STAT3(signal transducer and activator of transcription 3),CASP3(caspase protein),

Performance Evaluation of a DS-CDMA System in a Rayleigh Fading Environment

This work represents the performance evaluation of DS-CDMA in a Rayleigh fading environment. Performance analysis was carried out for a DS-CDMA system to evaluate the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) and bit error rate (BER) for different modulation schemes like ASK, PSK and FSK. Results were evaluated at different data rates and were presented in terms of SNR, SIR and BER. Computer simulation was also carried out by using Matlab to evaluate the signal waveforms with and without addition white Gaussian noise (AWGN). Butterworth filtered waveform was given to get better signal quality. Decoded output waveforms were also evaluated to confirm the simulation.

Vector control schemes have recently been used to drive linear induction motors(LIM)in high-performance *** trend promotes the development of precise and efficient control schemes for individual *** research aims to present a novel framework for speed and thrust force control of LIM using space vector pulse width modulation(SVPWM)*** framework under consideration is developed in four *** begin,MATLAB Simulink was used to develop a detailed mathematical and electromechanical *** research presents a modified SVPWM inverter control *** tuning the proportional-integral(PI)controller with a transfer function,optimized values for the PI controller are *** the subsystems mentioned above are integrated to create a robust simulation of the LIM’s precise speed and thrust force control *** reference speed values were chosen to evaluate the performance of the respective system,and the developed system’s response was verified using various data *** the low-speed range,a reference value of 10m/s is used,while a reference value of 100 m/s is used for the high-speed *** speed output response indicates that themotor reached reference speed in amatter of seconds,as the delay time is between 8 and 10 *** maximum amplitude of thrust achieved is less than 400N,demonstrating the controller’s capability to control a high-speed LIM with minimal thrust *** to the controlled speed range,the developed system is highly recommended for low-speed and high-speed and heavy-duty traction applications.
