Determination of distribution and magnitude of active earth pressure is crucial in retaining wall designs. A number of analytical theories on active earth pressure were presented. Yet, there are limited studies on comparison between the theories. In this work, comparison between the theories with finite element analysis is done using the PLAXIs software. The comparative results show that in terms of distribution and magnitude of active earth pressure, RANKINE＇s theory possesses the highest match to the PLAXIs analysis. Parametric studies were also done to study the responses of active earth pressure distribution to varying parameters Increasing soil friction angle and wall friction causes decrease in active earth pressure. In contrast, active earth pressure increases with increasing soil unit weight and height of wall. RANK/NE＇s theory has the highest compatibility to finite element analysis among all theories, and utilization of this theory leads to proficient retaining wall design.

Introduction:special economic zones(sEZs)emerge as new forces driving Asian economic transformation and triggering rapid landscape *** is imperative to map out the present and future spatial patterns of sEZs in order to understand how they undermine *** from the experience of Iskandar Malaysia,one of the most successful sEZs in southeast Asia,this study measures how biophysical and cultural landscapes are being affected by the most recent accelerated land development in the ***:With aid of a hybrid model,namely the special economic zone landscape fragmentation measurement(seLaFragment),which combines Geographic Information system(GIs),FRAGsTATs and NetLogo,the current and future fragmentation dynamics were analysed using land use data of the study area from the beginning of intensive landscape transformation in 2007 until *** Malaysia’s cultural and biophysical landscapes were extensively ***:The analysis showed that urban built-up areas increased from 13%in 2006 to 24%in *** swamps were the worst affected ecosystem as they lost 20%of their areal coverage between 2006 and *** simulation of the future scenarios suggested that,in the future,fragmentation and landscape homogenisation will intensify and pose more risks to landscape quality,functions and socio-ecological ***:It is obvious that rapid landscape fragmentation compromises sustainability of a wide range of ecosystems and their functions and services in and around urban *** is difficult to see how existing environmental strategies have been effective in addressing the emerging sustainability challenges of rapid landscape *** best way to respond to this kind of situation in the sEZs is by focusing on holistic approach to landscape sustainability.

A set W of the vertices of a connected graph G is called a resolving set for G if for every two distinct vertices u, v E V（G） there is a vertex w E W such that d（u, w） ≠ d（v, w）. A resolving set of minimum cardinality is called a metric basis for G and the number of vertices in a metric basis is called the metric dimension of G, denoted by dim（G）. For a vertex u of G and a subset s of V（G）, the distance between u and s is the number minses d（u,s）. A k-partition II = {$1,$2,..., sk} of V（G） is called a resolving partition if for every two distinct vertices u, v E V（G） there is a set si in H such that d（u, si） ≠ d（v, si）. The minimum k for which there is a resolving k-partition of V（G） is called the partition dimension of G, denoted by pd（G）. The circulant graph is a graph with vertex set Zn, an additive group of integers modulo n, and two vertices labeled i and j adjacent if and only if i - j （rood n） E C, where C C Zn has the property that C = -C and 0 ￠ C. The circulant graph is denoted by Xn,△ where A = ｜C｜. In this paper, we study the metric dimension of a family of circulant graphs Xn,3 with connection set C = {1, 3, n - 1} and prove that dim（Xn,3） is independent of choice of n by showing that dim（Xn,a） = {3 for all n ≡0 （mod 4）,4 for all n≡2 （mod4）.We also study the partition dimension of a family of circulant graphs Xm,4 with connection set C = {±1, ±2} and prove that pd（Xn,4） is independent of choice of n and show that pd（X5,4） = 5 and pd（Xn,a） ={ 3 for all odd n≥9,4 for all even n≥6 and n=7.

Reaction of indole-3-carboxaldehydes 4 with hydrazine derivatives and different substituted acid hydrazides afforded the corresponding hydrazine derivatives 5a-c and acid hydrazide derivatives 7-11 respectively. Condensation of indole-3-carboxaldehydes 4 with phenacyl bromide and thiourea gives 1,3-thiazol-2-amine derivative 18. On the other hand, reaction 4 with 3-acetylchromene-2-one afforded chalcone derivative 19. Compound 4 undergoing Knoevenagel condensation with cyanoacetamide, ethyl cyanoacetate, benzimidazol-2-ylacetonitrile, rhodanine-3-acetic acid, 2,3-dihydropyrimidin-4-one derivative and 2,4-dihydropyrazol-3-one afforded the compounds 20a,b, 22, 23, 27 and 28 respectively. The structure of the newly synthesized compounds has been confirmed by elemental analysis and spectra data. The four isolates solid complexes:[La(RHC)(NO_(3))_(2)]·3H_(2)O,[Nd(RHC)(NO_(3))_(2)]·4H_(2)O,[Eu(RHC)(NO_(3))_(2)]·2H_(2)O,and[Ce(RHC)(NO_(3))_(2)]·5H_(2)O that obtained by the reaction of the nitrate salts of the Ce(Ⅲ),Eu(Ⅲ),Nd(Ⅲ)and La(Ⅲ)ions and rhodamie C(RHC)ligand were interpretative using elemental analysis(C,H and N),molar conductivity,infrared,electronic,fluorescence and 1H-NMR spectra to achieve the speculated suitable *** low molar conductance values of the synthesized RHC complexes concluded the non-electrolytic *** infrared spectra recorded the absence of stretching vibrationν(OH)of the—COOH and presence of two new vibration bands at 1597~1601 and 1383~1399 cm^(-1)which were assigned toνas(COO-)andνs(COO-).The difference between them revealed that the carboxylate group acts as a bidentate ligand.1HNMR spectra of Europium and lanthanum(Ⅲ)complexes were supported the FTIR results based on the absent of proton of the carboxylic ***,the microanalytical and spectroscopic results deduced that RHC acts as a monobasic bidentate ligand,and coordinated to the central metal(Ⅲ)ions via the two oxygen atoms of deprotonated carboxylic *** studies were performed on the metal complexes of Ce^(3+),Tb^(3+),Th^(4+),Gd^(3+)and La^(3+),that referred a quenching in the fluorescene intensity of rhodamine C in the aqueous state after *** antimicrobial assessment against some kind of bacteria and fungi were also checked and recorded enhancement in case of their complexes.
