Laparoscopic management of hydatid cysts using long ribbon gauze:An initial experience of 37 consecutive cases

Objective:The laparoscopic approach is becoming the standard of care for many surgical ***,in the case of hydatid cysts,laparoscopic management is challenging due to the risk of spillage of hydatid fluid,which can cause an anaphylactic reaction and ***,we report our initial experience with laparoscopic partial pericystectomy of hydatid cysts using long ribbon gauze to decrease intra-operative ***:This was a retrospective study(between January 2010 and December 2021)in the Department of Surgical Gastroenterology,Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Science,a tertiary care referral center in northern ***,we have included 37 consecutive patients with hydatid cysts of the liver and *** was made by laboratory and imaging findings(abdominal sonography or contrast enhanced CT scans).All patients were managed with laparoscopic partial ***,a betadine-soaked long ribbon gauze,high-pressure suction canula,and an endo-bag were used in all *** collected data included patient demography,location,size,and number of cysts,WHO type,operative time,blood loss,postoperative complications,hospital stay and ***:In our series,the mean age was 38.4±13.6 years,15(40.5%)were men and 22(59.5%)were *** right lobe of the liver was the most commonly affected site(21,56.8%).The mean operative time was 80.0±32.0 min,and intraoperative blood loss was 23.6±11.5 *** leak was present in 6(16.2%)*** was no *** hospital stay was 5(3,9)days,and no recurrence was observed at a median follow-up of 36 ***:Laparoscopic partial pericystectomy using this technique is safe in the management of hydatid ***,proper packing and safe removal of soaked gauzes can minimize the incidence of postoperative complications and recurrence.

Comparative study on machinability improvement in hard turning using coated and uncoated carbide inserts： part ii modeling, multi-response optimization, tool life, and economic aspects

The present study focused on mathematical modeling, multi response optimization, tool life, and eco- nomical analysis in finish hard turning of AISI D2 steel （（55 4- 1） HRC） using CVD-coated carbide （TiN/TiCN/ A1203） and uncoated carbide inserts under dry environ- mental conditions. Regression methodology and the grey relational approach were implemented for modeling and multi-response optimization, respectively. Comparative economic statistics were carried out for both inserts, and the adequacy of the correlation model was verified. The experimental and predicted values for all responses were very close to each other, implying the significance of the model and indicating that the correlation coefficients were close to unity. The optimal parametric combinations for A1203 coated carbide were dl-fl-v2 （depth of cut = 0.1 mm, feed = 0.04 mm/r and cutting speed = 108 m/min）, and those for the uncoated tool were dl-（0.1 mm）-fl （0.04 mm/r）-vl （63 rn/min）. The observed tool life for the coated carbide insert was 15 times higher than that for the uncoated carbide insert, considering flank wear criteria of 0.3 mm. The chip volume after machining for the coated carbide insert was 26.14 times higher than that of the uncoated carbide insert and could be better utilized for higher material removal rate. Abrasion, diffusion, notch- ing, chipping, and built-up edge have been observed to be the principal wear mechanisms for tool life estimation. Use of the coated carbide tool reduced machining costs by about 3.55 times compared to the use of the uncoated carbide insert, and provided economic benefits in hard turning.

This work introduces the facile hydrothermal synthesis of double perovskite La2CuCoO6.X-ray diffraction pattern confirmed the formation of a monoclinic phase with P121/c1 *** electron microscopy results revealed that the self-assembled porous rods were composed of nanocrystallite *** estimated specific surface area of these mesoporous rods with an average pore diameter of 6 nm was^41 m^2·g^–*** presence of ions with oxidation states of La^3+,Cu^2+,and Co^2+/Co^3+on the surface of the mesoporous La2CuCoO6 rods was confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopic *** cyclicvoltammetry and chronopotentiometry,the electrode fabricated from the mesoporous La2CuCoO6 rods were found to exhibit pseudocapacitive behavior with a specific capacitance of 259.4 F·g^–1 at a current density of 0.5 A·g^–***^89%retention in specific capacitance was achieved after 1000 charge/discharge cycles at a constant current density of4 A·g^–1.

Expanding Roles of PIFs in Signal Integration from Multiple Processes

PHYTOCHROME-INTERACTING FACTORs （PIFs） are members of the basic helix-loop-helix （bHLH） family of transcription factors in Arabidopsis. Since their discovery in phytochrome-mediated light signaling pathways, recent studies have unraveled new functions of PIFs in integrating multiple signaling pathways not only through their role as transcription factors directly targeting gene expression but also by interacting with diverse groups of factors to optimize plant growth and development. These include endogenous （e.g., hormonal） as well as abiotic （light, circadian, and elevated temperature） and biotic （defense responses） pathways. PIFs interact with key factors in each of these pathways and tailor the outcome of the signal integration among these pathways. This review discusses the roles of PIFs as pivotal signal integrators in regulating plant growth and development.

Connecting muon anomalous magnetic moment and multi-lepton anomalies at LHC

In a previous paper by several of the authors a number of predictions were made in a study pertaining to the anomalous production of multiple leptons at the Large Hadron Collider(LHC). Discrepancies in multi-lepton final states have become statistically compelling with the available Run 2 data. These could be connected with a heavy boson, H, which predominantly decays into a standard model Higgs boson, h, and a singlet scalar, S, where mH≈270 GeV and mS≈150 GeV. These can then be embedded into a scenario where a two-Higgs-doublet is considered with an additional singlet scalar, 2HDM+S. The long-standing discrepancy in the muon anomalous magnetic moment,△aμ, is interpreted in the context of the 2HDM+S type-ii and type-X, along with additional fermionic degrees of freedom. The 2 HDM+S model alone, with constraints from the LHC data, does not seem to explain the △aμ ***, adding fermions with mass of order O(100) GeV can explain the discrepancy for sufficiently low values of fermion-scalar couplings.

Effective field theory approach to lepto-philic self-conjugate dark matter

We study self-conjugate dark matter(DM)particles interacting primarily with Standard Model(SM)leptons in an effective field theoretical *** consider SM gauge-invariant effective contact interactions between Majorana fermion,real scalar and real vector DM with leptons by evaluating the Wilson coefficients appropriate for interaction terms up to dimension 8,and obtain constraints on the parameters of the theory from the observed relic density,indirect detection observations and from the DM-electron scattering cross-sections in direct detection *** energy LEP data has been used to study sensitivity in the pair production of low mass(≤80 GeV)DM *** production of DM particles of mass≥50 GeV in association with mono-photons at the proposed ILC has rich potential to probe such effective operators.

New early Eocene vertebrate assemblage from western India reveals a mixed fauna of European and Gondwana affinities

The Ypresian Cambay Shale Formation at Vastan and Mangrol lignite mines in Gujarat, western India, has yielded a rich vertebrate fauna with numerous taxa of European affinities. Here we report a new, approximately contemporary vertebrate assemblage from two fossiliferous layers in the nearby mine of Tadkeshwar. These layers have yielded a similar mammal fauna with the co-occurrence of the perissodactyl-like cambaytheriid Cambaytherium thewissi, the adapoid primates Marcgodinotius indicus and cf. Asiadapis cambayensis, and the hyaenodontid lndohyaenodon raoi. The presence of these species in both Vastan and Tadkeshwar mines and at different levels suggests that the deposits between the two major lignite seams represent a single land mammal age. Apart from the aforementioned species there is a new, smaller species of Cambaytherium, and a new genus and species of esthonychid tillodont. This fauna also contains the first large early Eocene vertebrates from India, including an unidentified Coryphodon-like pantodont, a dyrosaurid crocodyliform and a new giant madtsoiid snake. Among the Tadkeshwar vertebrates several taxa are of Gondwana affinities, such as Pelomedusoides turtles, dyr- osaurids, and large madtsoiids, attesting that the early Eocene was a crucial period in India during which Laurasian taxa of European affinities co-existed with relict taxa from Gondwana before the India-Asia collision. Our results suggest that terrestrial faunas could have dispersed to or from Europe during episodes of contact between the Indian subcontinent and different island blocks along the northern margin of the Neotethys, such as the Kohistan Ladakh island-arc system. Gondwana taxa might represent remnants of ghost lineages shared with Madagascar, which reached the Indian subcontinent during the late Cretaceous; alternatively they might have come from North Africa and passed along the southern margin of the Neotethys to reach the Indian subcontinent. A comparison of APACHE ii,BISAP,Ranson’s score and modified CTSI in predicting the severity of acute pancreatitis based on the 2012 revised Atlanta Classification

Objective:Our aim was to prospectively compare the Accuracy of Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation(APACHE)ii,Bedside Index of Severity in Acute Pancreatitis(BISAP),Ranson’s score and modified Computed Tomography Severity Index(CTSI)in predicting the severity of acute pancreatitis based on Atlanta 2012 definitions in a tertiary care hospital in northern ***:Fifty patients with acute pancreatitis admitted to our hospital during the period of March 2015 to September 2016 were included in the *** ii,BISAP and Ranson’s score were calculated for all the *** CTSI was also determined based on a pancreatic protocol contrast enhanced computerized tomography(CT).Optimal cut-offs for these scoring systems and the area under the curve(AUC)were evaluated based on the receiver operating characteristics(ROC)curve and these scoring systems were compared ***:Of the 50 cases,14 were graded as severe acute *** necrosis was present in 15 patients,while 14 developed persistent organ failure and 14 needed intensive care unit(ICU)*** AUC for modified CTSI was consistently the highest for predicting severe acute pancreatitis(0.919),pancreatic necrosis(0.993),organ failure(0.893)and ICU admission(0.993).APACHE ii was the second most accurate in predicting severe acute pancreatitis(AUC 0.834)and organ failure(0.831).APACHE ii had a high sensitivity for predicting pancreatic necrosis(93.33%),organ failure(92.86%)and ICU admission(92.31%),and also had a high negative predictive value for predicting pancreatic necrosis(96.15%),organ failure(96.15%)and ICU admission(95.83%).Conclusion:APACHE ii is a useful prognostic scoring system for predicting the severity of acute pancreatitis and can be a crucial aid in determining the group of patients that have a high chance of need for tertiary care during the course of their illness and therefore need early resuscitation and prompt referral,especially in resource-lim

Diffusion tensor interpolation profile control using non-uniform motion on a Riemannian geodesic

Tensor interpolation is a key step in the processing algorithms of diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), such as registration and tractography. The diffusion tensor (DT) in biological tissues is assumed to be positive definite. However, the tensor interpolations in most clinical applications have used a Euclidian scheme that does not take this assumption into account. Several Rie-mannian schemes were developed to overcome this limitation. Although each of the Riemannian schemes uses different metrics, they all result in a ‘fixed’ interpolation profile that cannot adapt to a variety of diffusion patterns in biological tissues. In this paper, we propose a DT interpolation scheme to control the interpolation profile, and explore its feasibility in clinical applications. The profile controllability comes from the non-uniform motion of interpolation on the Riemannian geodesic. The interpolation experiment with medical DTI data shows that the profile control improves the interpolation quality by assessing the reconstruction errors with the determinant error, Euclidean norm, and Riemannian norm.
