Objective:To evaluate the antimalarial activity of noscapine against Plasmodium falciparum 3D7 strain(Pf3D7),its clinical isolate(Pf140/SS),and Plasmodium berghei ANKA(PbA).Methods:Using ring-stage survival assay,phenotypic assessments,and SYBR-green-based fluorescence assay,the antimalarial activities of noscapine were assessed compared with dihydroartemisinin(DHA)in in vivo and in vitro *** addition,hemolysis and cytotoxicity tests were carried out to evaluate its ***-PCR assay was also conducted to determine the effect of noscapine on papain-like cysteine protease Plasmodium falciparum falcipain-2(PfFP-2).Results:The antimalarial efficacy of noscapine against Pf3D7 and Pf140/SS was comparable to DHA,with IC50 values of(7.68±0.88)and(5.57±0.74)nM/mL,respectively,and>95%inhibition of PbA infected *** also showed a safe profile,as evidenced by low hemolysis and cytotoxicity even at high ***,PfFP-2 expression was significantly inhibited in both noscapine-treated Pf3D7 and Pf140/SS(P<0.01).Conclusions:Noscapine has antimalarial properties comparable to standard antimalarial DHA with better safety profiles,which may be further explored as a therapeutic candidate for the treatment of malaria.

A state-of-the-art review of solar passive building system for heating or cooling purpose

The major portion of energy in a building is consumed by heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning （HVAC）. The traditional heating and cooling systems contribute greatly to the emission of greenhouse gases, especially carbon dioxide. Four different ways, i.e., Trombe wall, solar chimney, unglazed transpired solar facade, and solar roof, are adopted for solar heating. Similarly, two major ways, i.e., evaporative cooling and building integrated evaporative cooling are adopted for cooling of the building. Therefore, an attempt has been made in this paper to compile the developments of solar heating and cooling technologies in a building.

A Novel Optimizer in Deep Neural Network for Diabetic Retinopathy Classification

In severe cases, diabetic retinopathy can lead to blindness. For decades,automatic classification of diabetic retinopathy images has been a challenge. Medical image processing has benefited from advances in deep learning systems. Toenhance the accuracy of image classification driven by Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), balanced dataset is generated by data augmentation method followed by an optimized algorithm. Deep neural networks (DNN) are frequentlyoptimized using gradient (GD) based techniques. Vanishing gradient is the maindrawback of GD algorithms. In this paper, we suggest an innovative algorithm, tosolve the above problem, Hypergradient Descent learning rate based Quasi hyperbolic (HDQH) gradient descent to optimize the weights and biases. The algorithms only use first order gradients, which reduces computation time andstorage space requirements. The algorithms do not require more tuning of thelearning rates as the learning rate tunes itself by means of gradients. We presentempirical evaluation of our algorithm on two public retinal image datasets such asMessidor and DDR by using Resnet18 and Inception V3 architectures. The findings of the experiment show that the efficiency and accuracy of our algorithm outperforms the other cutting-edge algorithms. HDQHAdam shows the highestaccuracy of 97.5 on Resnet18 and 95.7 on Inception V3 models respectively.

Geochemistry of a paleosol horizon at the base of the Sausar Group,central India： Implications on atmospheric conditions at the Archeane Paleoproterozoic boundary

A paleosol horizon is described from the contact of the Sausar Group（w2400 Ma） and its basement（Tirodi Gneiss; 〉2500 Ma） in Central India. Physical evidence of pedogenesis is marked by the development of stress corrosion cracks, soil peds, corestone weathering and nodular rocks. XRD and SEM-EDX data indicate the presence of siderite, ankerite, uraninite, chlorite, alumino-silicate minerals, ilmenite,rutile and magnetite, in addition to quartz, feldspar and mica. The chemical index of alteration, the plagioclase index of alteration, and the chemical index of weathering show an increasing trend from parent rock to the paleosol and indicate a moderate trend of weathering. The A-CN-K plot indicates loss of feldspars, enrichment in Al2O3 and formation of illite. Different major element ratios indicate baseloss through hydrolysis, clay formation, leaching of some elements, and more precipitation with good surface drainage. The paleosol is depleted in HREE in comparison to the parent rock indicating high fluid-rock interaction during weathering. The paleosol samples show flat Ce and Eu anomalies, low SREE, and high（La/Yb）N, indicative of a reducing environment of formation. Reducing condition can also be inferred from the concentration of elements such as V, Co, Cu, Pb, and Zn in the paleosol profile. Although enriched in Fe and Mg, the overall geochemical patterns of the paleosol indicate oxygen deficient conditions in the atmosphere and development by weathering and leaching processes associated with high precipitation and good surface drainage at the time of development of this paleosol during the Archeane Paleoproterozoic transition.

Dermatological disorders have a huge psychosocial impact, causing significant impairment of patient’s life. Topical therapy plays a pivotal role in management of such *** topical delivery systems result in overmedication/undermedication, leading to adverse effects and reduction in therapeutic efficacy. Consequently, researchers have been striving towards the development of alternative delivery systems for dermatological applications. In the last decade, microsponges emerged as an attractive option for topical delivery. Their characteristic particle size offers enhanced benefits, making them superior to the contemporary microcarriers. The present review furnishes a comprehensive account of state of the art, important factors affecting the performance and mechanism of drug release from topically applied microsponges, along with characterization techniques. Further, a list of marketed products and their applications for common dermatological disorders has been presented. All in all, this paper is an attempt to lay a bibliographic foundation for researchers working in this field and foster further investigations in this arena.

Financial burden of seeking diabetes mellitus care in India:Evidence from a Nationally Representative Sample Survey

Background:Diabetes mellitus(DM)is a major public health concern in India,and entails a severe burden in terms of disability,death,and economic *** study examined the out-of-pocket health expenditure(OOPE)and financial burden associated with DM care in ***:The study used data from the latest round of the National Sample Survey on health,which covered 555,115 individuals from 113,823 households in *** the present study,data of 1216 individuals who sought inpatient treatment and 6527 individuals who sought outpatient care for DM were ***:In India,10.04 per 1000 persons reported having DM during the last 15 days before the survey date,varying from 6.94/1000 in rural areas to 17.45/1000 in urban *** 38%of Indian households with diabetic members experienced catastrophic health expenditure(at the 10%threshold)and approximately 10%of DM-affected households were pushed below the poverty line because of OOPE,irrespective of the type of care sought.48.5%of households used distressed sources to finance the inpatient costs of *** constituted one of the largest proportion of total health expenditure,regardless of the type of care sought or type of healthcare facility *** average monthly OOPE was over 4.5-fold and 2.5-fold higher for households who sought inpatient and outpatient care,respectively,from private health facilities,compared with those treated at public ***,the financial burden was more severe for households residing in rural areas,those in lower economic quintiles,those belonging to marginalised social groups,and those using private health ***:The burden of DM and its associated financial ramifications necessitate policy measures,such as prioritising health promotion and disease prevention strategies,strengthening public healthcare facilities,improved regulation of private healthcare providers,and bringing outpatient services under the purview of health insurance,to manage th

Empirical mode decomposition of near-infrared spectroscopy signals for predicting oil content in palm fruits

Oil content estimation in palm fruits is a precious property that significantly impacts oil palm production,starting from the upstream and *** content can be used to monitor the progress of the oil palm fresh fruit bunch(FFB)and be applied to identify product *** on the near-infrared(NIR)signals,this study proposes an empirical mode decomposition(EMD)technique to decompose signals and predict the oil content of palm ***,350 palm fruits with Tenera varieties(Elaeis guineensis ***),at various ages of maturity,were harvested from the Cikabayan Oil Palm Plantation(IPB University,Indonesia).Second,each sample was sent directly to the laboratory for NIR signal measurements and oil content ***,the EMD analysis and arti-ficial neural network(ANN)were employed to correlate the NIR signals and oil ***,a robust EMD-ANN model is generated by optimizing the lowest possible *** on performance evaluation,the proposed technique can predict oil content with a coefficient of determination(R2)of 0.933±0.015 and a root mean squared error(RMSE)of 1.446±*** results demonstrate that the model has a good predictive capacity and has the potential to predict the oil content of palm fruits directly,without neither solvents nor reagents,which makes it environmentally ***,the proposed technique has a promising potential to be applied in the oil palm *** like this will lead to the effective and efficient management of oil palm production.
