Synthesis and characterization of cerium sulfide thin film

Background:Oral anti-coagulants(OAC)are the intervention for the prevention of stroke,which consistently improve clinical outcomes and survival among patients with atrial fibrillation(af).The main purpose of this study is to identify problems in OAC utilization among hospitalized patients with af in ***:Using data from the Improving Care for Cardiovascular Disease in China-Atrial Fibrillation(CCC-af)registry,guideline-recommended OAC use in eligible patients was ***:A total of 52,530 patients with non-valvular af were enrolled from February 2015 to December 2019,of whom 38,203 were at a high risk of stroke,9717 were at a moderate risk,and 4610 were at a low *** admission,only 20.0%(6075/30,420)of patients with a diagnosed af and a high risk of stroke were taking *** use of pre-hospital OAC on admission was associated with a lower risk of new-onset ischemic stroke/transient ischemic attack among the diagnosed af population(adjusted odds ratio:0.54,95%confidence interval:0.43-0.68;Paf project,>70%of af patients were at a high risk of *** poor performance on guideline-recommended OAC use was found in this study,over time the CCC-af project has made progress in stroke prevention in the Chinese af ***

Objective:To describe the pattern of admission-defining ailments and outcomes of care among people living with human immunodeficiency virus(HIV) /acquired immune deficiency syndrome(AIDS)(PLWHA) who presented for treatment at a tertiary health care institution in ***:We reviewed the hospital records of all patients admitted for AIDS and AIDS-related illnesses at the University College Hospital,Ibadan, Nigeria,from January 2005 to January ***:Seventy-two PLWHA were admitted during the study *** were 39 females(54.2%) and 33(45.8%) ***-seven(95%) PLWHA presented with *** 12(17%) were already receiving highly active antiretroviral therapy before *** -three patients(60%) commenced antiretroviral(ARV) therapy on ***-three patients(46%) had pulmonary tuberculosis,10(14%) had extrapulmonary tuberculosis,21(29.1%) had diarrhoea-related illnesses,20(28%) had anaemia,and nine(12.5%) presented with ***-nine patients(40.3%) were discharged home,and 43(59.7%) died before ***-nine patients(95.6%) were judged to be indigent,and required financial *** contributory causes of death included pulmonary tuberculosis in 21(48.8%),diarrhoeal diseases in five(11.6%),anaemia in five(11.6%),coma in nine(20.9%), and pneumonia in three(7.1%).Conclusion:Tuberculosis was the major admission-defining ailment among PLWHA.

Numerical simulation of the effect of the free carrier motilities on light-soaked a-Si:H p–i–n solar cell

Using a previous model, which was developed to describe the light-induced creation ofthe defect density in the a-Si：H gap states, we present in this work a computer simulation of the a-Si：H p-i-n solar cell behavior under continuous illumination. We have considered the simple case of a monochromatic light beam nonuniformly absorbed. As a consequence of this light-absorption profile, the increase of the dangling bond density is assumed to be inhomogeneous over the intrinsic layer （i-layer）. We investigate the internal variable profiles during illumination to understand in more detail the changes resulting from the light-induced degradation effect. Changes in the cell external parameters including the open circuit voltage, Voc, the short circuit current density, Jsc, the fill factor, FF, and the maximum power density, Pmax, are also presented. This shows, in addition, the free carrier mobility influence. The obtained results show that Voc seems to be the less affected parameter by the light-induced increase of the dangling bond density. Moreover, its degradation is very weak-sensitive to the free carrier mobility. Finally, the free hole mobility effect is found to be more important than that of electrons in the improvement of the solar cell performance.

Osteoinductivity assay of the variability of repeated extractions of bone morphogenetic proteins from bovine bone at different times

Objective: To observe the activity of repeated extracts of bone matrix and the production of purified bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs). Methods: BMPs were extracted 1- 4 times from fresh bovine cortical bone by the modified Urist’s method, with each collected precipitate separated and lyophilized as partially purified BMPs. Another fresh bovine bone was extracted three times and the precipitates were mixed and lyophilized. Meanwhile,the alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity was measured by an in vitro assay employing cultured C2C12 mouse myoblast cells through the osteoinductivity of bovine BMPs extracted four times at days 1, 4, 7, and 14, and the correlation between BMPs quantities and costing during extraction processes was ***: The BMPs purified and the cost showed a positive correlation (r=(0.969)). To separate and lyophilize each collected precipitate as partially purified BMPs raised the cost, and mixed precipitates also cost much. ALP activities of the 1st and mixed extractions of BMPs were shown to be highly osteoinductive and keep a significantly high level (Pafter culturing, compared with the 2nd, 3rd and 4th extractions, especially the control group. However, the more times the extraction was done, the less activity of BMPs was shown and more costing was. The x-ray and histological analysis also showed that the 1st extraction of BMPs induced more ossicles and new bone ***: The results indicated that BMPs enhanced the abilities of osteoinductivity in C2C12 culture in vitro. The first extraction of BMPs from bone is fitfull, the second extraction should be enough, while, the 3rd and 4th extractions are unnecessary for they cost more and waste more time, say nothing of mixed extractions.

Analysis of the histologic features in the differential diagnosis of intrahepatic neonatal cholestasis

AIM:To compare the histologic features of the liver in intrahepatic neonatal cholestasis(IHNC)with infectious,genetic-endocrine-metabolic,and idiopathic etiologies. METHODS:Liver biopsies from 86 infants with IHNC were *** inclusion criteria consisted of jaundice beginning at 3 mo of age and a hepatic biopsy during the 1st year of *** following histologic features were evaluated:cholestasis,eosinophilia,giant cells,erythropoiesis,siderosis,portal fibrosis,and the presence of a septum. RESULTS:Based on the diagnosis,patients were classified into three groups:group 1(infectious;n=18),group 2(genetic-endocrine-metabolic;n=18),and group 3(idiopathic;n=50).There were no significant differences with respect to the following variables:cholestasis,eosinophilia,giant cells,siderosis,portalfibrosis,and presence of a septum.A significant difference was observed with respect to erythropoiesis,which was more severe in group 1(Fisher's exact test,P=0.016). CONCLUSION:A significant difference was observed in IHNC of infectious etiology,in which erythropoiesis was more severe than that in genetic-endocrine-metabolic and idiopathic etiologies,whereas there were no significant differences among cholestasis,eosinophilia,giant cells,siderosis,portal fibrosis,and the presence of a septum.

Using a previous model, which was developed to describe the light-induced creation of the defect density in the a-Si：H gap states, we present in this work a numerical modelling of the photodegradation effect in the a-Si：H p–i–n solar cell under continuous illumination. We first considered the simple case of a monochromatic light beam with a wavelength λ between 530–540 nm non uniformly absorbed, then the global standard solar spectrum（AM1.5） illumination is taken into account. The photodegradation is analysed on the basis of the resulting changes in the free carrier＇s densities, recombination rate, band structure, electrical potential and field, space charge, and current densities. Changes in the cell＇s external parameters： the open circuit voltage Voc, the short circuit current density Jsc, the fill factor FF and the maximum power density Pmaxare also presented.

AIM： To evaluate Pronto Dry examination in patients with dyspepsia. METHODS： The study was conducted in patients with dyspepsia who underwent endoscopic examination in several endoscopic centers of several cities in Indonesia from January 2003 until April 2004. Biopsies for histopathologic examination were fixed with formalin and sent to Histopathologic Department to be analyzed and confirm the presence of Hpylori infection. If Hpylori was found positive, the density was calculated semi quantitatively. Histopathologic examination from gastric biopsy samples was interpreted based on the updated Sydney system classification. RESULTS： Of 550 patients, 309 （56%） were male and 241 （44%） were female with ages ranging from 15 to 82 years. Mean age was 44.98 ± 14.46 years. Mean age of male patients was 44.35 ± 13.85 years and mean age of female patients was 45.78± 15.19 years. Evaluation of endoscopic results showed gastric ulcer in 36 cases （6.5%） and duodenal ulcer in 20 cases （3.6%）. Normal endoscopic finding was found in 45 cases （8.2%） and minimal disorder of gastritis and duodenitis were found in 246 cases （44.7%）. One case of gastric cancer was identified. Of 56 cases which were positive based on the criteria used, 39 patients were positive with Pronto Dry and 17 patients were negative with Pronto Dry. Overall sensitivity and specificity of Pronto Dry were 69.7% and 95.7% respectively. Positive predictive value was 66.1% and negative predictive value was 96.4% and overall accurate rate was 92.9%. CONCLUSION： Pronto Dry seems promising as a diagnostic tool to detect Hpy/ori more rapidly and accurately.

Control of Tetranychus urticae Koch by extracts of three essential oils of chamomile,marjoram and Eucalyptus

Objective:To evaluate the acaricidal activity of extracts of three essential oils of chamomile,marjoram and Eucalyptwi against Tetranychus urtiaie(***.)***:Extracts of three essential oils of chamomile,marjoram and Eucalyptus with different concentrations(0.5%,1.0%,2.0%,3.0%and 4.0%)were used to control *** ***:The results showed that chamomile(Chamomilla recutita)represented the most potent efficient acaricidal agent against Tetranychus followed by marjoram(Marjorana hortensis)and *** LC_(50)values of chamomile,marjoram and Eucalyptus for adults were 0.65,1.84 and 2.18,respectively and for eggs 1.17,6.26 and 7.33,*** of enzymes including glutathione-Stxansferase,esterase(α-esterase andβ-esterase)and alkaline phosphatase in susceptible mites were determined and activities of enzymes involved in the resistance of acaricides were *** enzyme was significantly decreased at LC_(50)of both chamomile and marjoram compared with positive *** chromatography-mass spectrometer(CC-MS)proved that the major compositions of Chamomilla recutita areα-bisabolol oxide A(35.251%),and trans-3-farersene(7.758%),while the main components of Marjorana hortensis are terpincne-4-ol(23.860%),p-cymene(23.404%)and sabinene(10.904%).Conclusions:It can be concluded that extracts of three essential oils of chamomile,marjoram and Eucalyptus possess acaricidal activity against ***.
