Caspase-cleaved cytokeratin-18 and tumour regression in gastro-oesophageal adenocarcinomas treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy

AIM:To examine cytokeratin-18(CK-18) and caspasecleaved CK-18 expression in tumours and correlate with clinicopathological outcomes including tumour regression grade(TRG) ***:Formalin-fixed human gastro-oesophageal cancers were constructed into tissue *** first set consisted of 122 gastric/gastro-oesophageal cancer cases not exposed to neoadjuvant chemotherapy and the second set consisted of 97 gastric/gastrooesophageal cancer cases exposed to pre-operative platinum-based *** of CK-18 and caspase-cleaved CK-18 was investigated using ***:CK18 was commonly expressed in gastrooesophageal tumours(92.6%).Fifty-six point seven percent of tumours previously exposed to neoadjuvant chemotherapy were positive for caspase-cleaved CK-18 expression compared to only 24.6% of tumours not previously exposed to neoadjuvant chemotherapy(P = 0.009).In patients who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy,caspase-cleaved cytokeratin-18 expression correlated with favourable TRG response(TRG 1,2 or 3,P = 0.043).CONCLUSION:This is the largest study to date of CK-18 and caspase-cleaved CK-18 expression in gastrooesophageal *** provide the first evidence that caspase-cleaved CK-18 predicts tumour regression with neoadjuvant chemotherapy.

Spatio-temporal variation of depth to groundwater level and its driving factors in arid and semi-arid regions of India

Fuzzy entropy measures are valuable tools in decision-making when dealing with uncertain or imprecise *** exist many entropy measures for Pythagorean Fuzzy Sets(PFS)in the literature that fail to deal with the problem of providing reasonable or consistent results to the *** deal with the shortcomings of the existing measures,this paper proposes a robust fuzzy entropy measure for PFS to facilitate decision-making under *** usefulness of the measure is illustrated through an illustration of decision-making in a supplier selection problem and compared with existing fuzzy entropy *** Technique for Order Performance by Similarity to Ideal Solution(TOPSIS)approach is also explored to solve the decision-making *** results demonstrate that the proposed measure can effectively capture the degree of uncertainty in the decision-making process,leading to more accurate decision outcomes by providing a reliable and robust ranking of alternatives.

A Workable Solution for Reducing the Large Number of Vehicle and Pedestrian Accidents Occurring on a Yellow Light

Traffic intersections are incredibly dangerous for drivers and pedestrians. Statistics from both Canada and the U.S. show a high number of fatalities and serious injuries related to crashes at intersections. In Canada, during 2019, the National Collision Database shows that 28% of traffic fatalities and 42% of serious injuries occurred at intersections. Likewise, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA) found that about 40% of the estimated 5,811,000 accidents in the U.S. during the year studied were intersection-related crashes. In fact, a major survey by the car insurance industry found that nearly 85% of drivers could not identify the correct action to take when approaching a yellow traffic light at an intersection. One major reason for these accidents is the “yellow light dilemma,” the ambiguous situation where a driver should stop or proceed forward when unexpectedly faced with a yellow light. This situation is even further exacerbated by the tendency of aggressive drivers to inappropriately speed up on the yellow just to get through the traffic light. A survey of Canadian drivers conducted by the Traffic Injury Research Foundation found that 9% of drivers admitted to speeding up to get through a traffic light. Another reason for these accidents is the increased danger of making a left-hand turn on yellow. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA), left turns occur in approximately 22.2% of collisions—as opposed to just 1.2% for right turns. Moreover, a study by CNN found left turns are three times as likely to kill pedestrians than right turns. The reason left turns are so much more likely to cause an accident is because they take a driver against traffic and in the path of oncoming cars. Additionally, most of these left turns occur at the driver’s discretion—as opposed to the distressingly brief left-hand arrow at busy intersections. Location Prediction from Social Media Contents using Location Aware Attention LSTM Network

Location prediction in social media， a growing research field， employs machine learning to identify users’ locations from their online activities. This technology， useful in targeted advertising and urban planning， relies on natural language processing to analyze social media content and understand the temporal dynamics and structures of social networks. A key application is predicting a Twitter user’s location from their tweets， which can be challenging due to the short and unstructured nature of tweet text. To address this challenge， the research introduces a novel machine learning model called the location-aware attention LSTM (LAA-LSTM). This hybrid model combines a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network with an attention mechanism. The LSTM is trained on a dataset of tweets， and the attention network focuses on extracting features related to latitude and longitude， which are crucial for pinpointing the location of a user’s tweet. The result analysis shows approx. 10% improvement in accuracy over other existing machine learning approaches.

Physical model simulation of rock-support interaction for the tunnel in squeezing ground

The existence of squeezing ground conditions can lead to significant challenges in designing an adequate support system for *** empirical,observational and analytical methods have been suggested over the years to design support systems in squeezing ground conditions,but all of them have some *** this study,a novel experimental setup having physical model for simulating the tunnel boring machine(TBM)excavation and support installation process in squeezing clay-rich rocks is *** observations are made to understand better the interaction between the support and the squeezing *** physical model included a large true-triaxial cell,a miniature TBM,laboratoryprepared synthetic test specimen with properties similar to natural mudstone,and an instrumented cylindrical aluminum support *** were conducted at realistic in situ stress levels to study the time-dependent three-dimensional tunnel support *** tunnel was excavated using the miniature TBM in the cubical rock specimen loaded in the true-triaxial cell,after which the support was *** confining stress was then increased in stages to values greater than the rock’s unconfined compressive strength.A model for the time-dependent longitudinal displacement profile(LDP)for the supported tunnel was proposed using the tunnel convergence measurements at different times and stress *** LDP formulation was then compared with the unsupported model to calculate the squeezing amount carried by the *** increase in thrust in the support was backcalculated from an analytical solution with the assumption of linear elastic *** on the test results and case studies,a recommendation to optimize the support requirement for tunnels in squeezing ground is proposed.

Natural polysaccharides for ulcerative colitis: A general overview

Ulcerative colitis is a colonic disease characterized by the disruption of the mucosal epithelial layer and inflammation. For the treatment of this disease, various chemotherapeutic agents are ***, the toxicities associated with chemotherapeutics greatly hamper treatment. Polysaccharide from natural resources is emerging as a potentially therapeutic substance with comparative minimum adverse effects. In this article, we are discussing polysaccharide from diverse sources(plants, edible mushrooms,and algae) which are being used in the treatment of ulcerative colitis. These polysaccharides exert their therapeutic action on ulcerative colitis through several mechanisms, including suppression of inflammatory cascades NF-κB, MAPK, IL-6/JAK2/STAT3,preventing the release of certain inflammatory mediators, modulating the intestinal microbiome, maintaining the integrity of intestinal barriers, and regulating the certain inflammatory markers. The present review compiles the role of different polysaccharides being used successfully in the management/treatment of ulcerative *** emphasis was given to explaining the biomolecular pathway.

The excitation function of the 58Ni(n,p)58Co reaction was measured using the well-established neutron activation technique andγ-ray *** in the energy range of 1.7 to 2.7 MeV were generated using the 7Li(p,n)*** neutron flux was measured using the standard 115In(n,n’)115mIn monitor *** results of the neutron spectrum averaged cross-section of 58Ni(n,p)58Co reactions were compared with existing cross-section data available in the EXFOR data library as well as with various evaluated data libraries such as ENDF/B-VIII.0,JEFF-3.3,JENDL-4.0,and *** calculations were performed using the nuclear reaction code *** nuclear level density(NLD)models were tested,and their results were compared with the present *** NLDs were also obtained through the spectral distribution method(SDM).The cross-section results,along with the absolute errors,were obtained by investigating the uncertainty propagation and using the covariance *** forγ-ray true coincidence summing,low-energy background neutrons,andγ-ray self attenuation were *** experimental cross-section obtained in the present study is consistent with previously published experimental data,evaluated libraries,and theoretical calculations carried out using the TALYS code.

Gamma Correction for Brightness Preservation in Natural Images

Due to improper acquisition settings and other noise artifacts,the image degraded to yield poor mean preservation in *** simplest way to improve the preservation is the implementation of histogram *** of over-enhancement,it failed to preserve the mean brightness and produce the poor quality of the *** paper proposes a multi-scale decomposi-tion for brightness preservation using gamma *** transformation to hue,saturation and intensity(HSI)channel,the 2D-discrete wavelet transform decomposed the intensity component into low and high-pass *** the next phase,gamma correction is used by auto-tuning the scale *** scale is the modified constant value used in the logarithmic ***,the scale value is optimized to obtain better visual quality in the *** optimized value is the weighted distribution of standard deviation-mean of low pass ***,the experimental result is estimated in terms of quality assessment measures used as absolute mean brightness error,the measure of information detail,signal to noise ratio and patch-based contrast quality in the *** comparison,the proposed method proved to be suitably remarkable in retaining the mean brightness and better visual quality of the image.
