Association between Aspergillus flavus Colonization and Aflatoxins Production in Immature Grains of Maize Genotypes

Aspergillus flavus maize colonization leads to crop contamination by toxic secondary metabolites and carcinogens called aflatoxins （AF）; it has negative effects in public health and has caused economic losses in agricultural activities. Eleven genotypes of immature maize grain frequently used in Mexico were inoculated in vitro with two indigenous toxigenic strains ofA. flavus. The size of inoculum, temperature, humidity and presence of other phytopathogens were assessed. Genotypes Popcorn, C-526, Garst 8366, As910 and 30G40 showed resistance to rating of fungal colonization （FC） and AF accumulation, while 3002W, 30R39, Creole, C-922, HV313 and P3028W genotypes were less resistant. AFB~ had the highest concentrations （26.1 mg/kg ± 14.7 mg/kg）, while AFB2, AFG1 and AFG2 showed only residual concentrations 1.6, 2.0 and 4.0 ~tg/kg, respectively. Concerning FC and AF, there were significant differences （P 〈 0.01） between strains and genotype. Both strains showed significant association （P 〈 0.01） between FC and the concentrations of AFB1 and AFB2 （R2： 99.5% and 93.2%; 87.2% and 73.2%, respectively）. Results suggest that the level of resistance to fungus infection and AF accumulation is related to maize genotype. It emphasizes the relevance of developing A. flavus resistant maize genotypes as an alternative to control contamination in foodstuff intended for human and animal consumption.

Resistance to the Whitefly Aleurotrachelus socialis(Hemiptera:Aleyrodidae) and SSR Marker Identification in Advanced Populations of the Hybrid Manihot esculenta *** flabellifolia

Genes resistant to Aleurotrachelus socialis were transferred to the F 1 from the interspecific hybrid wild species of Manihot flabellifolia to *** and two advanced generations of backcrosses（BC 1 and BC 2）.We characterized the resistance of *** transferred to BC 2 parents（CW67-160,CW67-130,CW67-44）,MTAI-8（BC 1）,resistant（CMB9B-73） and susceptible（CMB9B-104） genotypes from contrasting pools,and resistant（MEcu-72） and susceptible（CMC-40） *** demography and biology were *** molecular markers associated with a phenotypic response of plant resistance were detected in segregating populations（BC 2）.Results showed that although female survival time was similar on all hosts,the lowest averages of longevity,fecundity and oviposition rate were observed in the resistant control MEcu- 72,only being significantly similar to the parent *** the BC 1 and BC 2 populations were compared,it was found that *** fecundity was eight times lower on CMB9B-73 progeny than on CW67-130,expressing the highest levels of resistance to the *** genotypes of CMB9A and CMB9B family had the best segregation.A total of 486 microsatellite primers were evaluated using bulked segregant analysis（BSA）,11 showed polymorphism between the contrasting pools and only one showed significant differences between resistant and susceptible *** conclusion,fecundity was the parameter that impacted most on the intrinsic rate of *** population growth.

Robust flat filtering DSP based control of the boost converter

The article deals with the design and implementation of a flat filter tracking digital controller for a boost DC-DC power converter. A highly perturbed switched boost converter circuit is shown to be efficiently controlled, in a trajectory tracking task for its non-minimum phase output, by means of a suitable linear filter, here addressed as a flat filter. Flat filtering is a natural robust version of generalized proportional integral control （GPIC） by which the effects of arbitrary time varying exogenous disturbances, unknown endogenous nonlinearities and un-modeled dynamics can be jointly attenuated in a conceptually similar fashion to observer-based active disturbance rejection control （ADRC） and algebraic identification based model free control （MFC） but： a） without using extended state observers and b） respecting the original system order in a time-varying simplified model while avoiding algebraic estimation techniques. The proposed control technique based on the TMS320F28335 digital signal processor chip is tested by means of realistic simulations and experimental setup.

Paraoxonase-1(PON1)is an important enzyme in various pathologies such as pesticide poisoning,diabetes,atherosclerosis,neuronal disorders,and cancer,due to its multifunctional activity since it acts on different ***,one of its main functions is the hydrolysis of organophosphate(OP)compounds from pesticides that cause fatal poisoning at the level of the central nervous system(CNS).The objective of this review was to investigate whether the structure,genetics,and function of PON1 affect the metabolism of organophosphate pesticides or other *** was selected from articles in the database PubMed–NCBI(https://***/pubmed/)with a publication date between 2011 and *** enzymatic activity of PON1 can be modified depending on its chemical structure since there are different genetic polymorphisms that change PONI morphologies or the levels of expression in the *** leads to differences in susceptibilities to organophosphate pesticide *** results of this review reveal that phenotypic variants of PON1 have differences in affinities for OP substrates.

Upcoming technologies in the fields of flexible electronics require the cost-efficient fabrication of complex circuitry in a streamlined *** printing techniques such as inkjet printing can enable such applications thanks to their inherent freedom of design permitting the mask-free deposition of multilayer optoelectronic devices without the need for subtracting *** we present an active matrix sensor array comprised of 100 inkjet-printed organic thin film transistors(OTFTs)and organic photodiodes(OPDs)monolithically integrated onto the same ultrathin *** the OTFTs and OPDs exhibited high-fabrication yield and state-of-the-art performance after the integration *** scaling of the OPDs,we achieved integrated pixels with power consumptions down to 50 nW at one of the highest sensitivities reported to date for an all-organic integrated ***,we demonstrated the application potential of the active matrix by static and dynamic spatial sensing of optical signals.

Evaluation of the Hydroxynitrile Lyase Activity in Cell Cultures of Capulin (Prunus serotina)

Enzymatic preparations obtained from young plants and cell cultures of capulin were screened for hydroxynitrile lyase activity. The threeweek old plants, grown under sterile conditions, were used to establish a solid cell culture. Crude preparations obtained from this plant material were evaluated for the transformation of benzaldehyde to the corresponding cyanohydrin (mandelonitrile). The results show that the crude material from roots, stalks, and leaves of young plants and calli of roots, stalks, internodes and petioles biocatalyzed the addition of hydrogen cyanide (HCN) to benzaldehyde with a modest to excellent enantioselectivity.

Neutral protamine hagedorn/regular insulin in the treatment of inpatient hyperglycemia: Comparison of 3 basal-bolus regimens

AIM To compare the safety and efficacy or 3 basal-bolus regimens of neutral protamine hagedorn(NPH)/regular insulin in the management of inpatient *** We randomized 105 patients with blood glucose levelsbetween 140 and 400 mg/dL to a basal-bolus regimen of NPH insulin given once(n = 30), twice(n = 40) or three times(n = 35) daily, in addition to pre-meal regular insulin. Major outcomes included were differences in glycemic control, frequency of hypoglycemia and total insulin *** NPH insulin given in a once-daily regimen was associated with better glycemic control(58.3%) compared to twice daily(42.4%) and three times daily(48.9) regimens(P = 0.031). The frequency of hypoglycemia was similar between the three groups(2.0%, 0.7% and 1.2%, P = 0.21). The mean insulin dose at discharge was 0.48 ± 0.14 U/kg in the once-daily group compared to 0.69 ± 0.28 in the twice-daily, and 0.65 ± 0.20 in the three times daily regimens(P < 0.001).CONCLUSION NPH insulin administered in a once-daily regimen resulted in improvement in glycemic control with similar rates of hypoglycemia compared to a twice-daily and a three times-daily regimen. Further studies are needed to evaluate whether this regimen could be implemented in all hospitalized patients with hyperglycemia.

Safety and Efficacy of Oral Mirodenafil in Mexican with Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction is treated with 5-phospodiesterase inhibitors as Mirodenafil, which has shown its efficacy and safety in Koreans, however;no information in other populations is available. An open clinical trial study was designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety in real life of a fixed-dose of Mirodenafil in Mexican patients with erectile dysfunction. Forty-seven male patients received a 100 mg tablet of Mirodenafil, during 12 weeks. Primary outcome efficacy measure was the percentage of male patients with successful intercourse. Secondary outcomes measures included patient satisfaction, mood and self-esteem level. Safety assessments included laboratory tests, vital signs, physical examination, 12-lead electrocardiogram recordings, and incidence of adverse events by patients. Oral administration of Mirodenafil improved in an 80% - 90% the number of successful intercourses from 7 to 84 days of treatment. Moreover, patients reported a significant increment in their sexual satisfaction, mood and self-esteem. Mirodenafil treatment did not modify vital signs nor anthropometric parameters during 84 days. Mild headache was the most frequent adverse event (17.0%) and there were no severe adverse events during pharmacological treatment. Data suggest that oral Mirodenafil is safety, well tolerated and effective in the Mexican population with erectile dysfunction.
