In this article,we introduce a framework for entanglement quantification of photon pairs represented by two-qubit Werner states.The measurement scheme is based on the symmetric informationally complete POVM.To make the framework realistic,we impose the Poisson noise on the measured two-photon coincidences.For various settings,numerical simulations were performed to evaluate the efficiency of the framework.

Escape behavior is a common antipredator strategy among wild animals.Here,we investigated the effect of four factors on the vigilance behavior of the endemic Cyprus rock agama(Laudakia cypriaca).Flight initiation distance(FID,the minimum distance to which an observer can approach a lizard before it flees)was measured in relation to the type of location(tourist vs.nontourist area),the observer’s starting distance,air temperature,and substrate temperature.We collected data for 39 agamas in tourist areas and 34 of these lizards in nontourist areas.As a whole,the mean starting distance was 10.5 m and the FID was 3.6 m.The average substrate temperature was 34.0℃ and the average air temperature 29.6℃.Only the type of area affected the agamas’escape decisions with FID being 1.8 m shorter in tourist areas than in nontourist areas(2.7 m vs.4.5 m).This is probably due to the habituation of lizards to the presence of humans in the former areas.This study shows that tourism strongly affects the behavior of lizards,which may have consequences for the functioning of the population.Tourists can increase the safety of lizards by creating a human shield to deter predators.Once the tourist season is over,lizards may become more vulnerable to predators.

This paper presents the integration of seismic refraction and multichannel analysis of surface wave(MASW)measurements to investigate the anisotropy of P-and S-wave velocities.Additionally,synthetic forward modelling is presented as a tool for supporting seismic anisotropy studies.The geophysical measurements of cracks allowed to recognise the fracturing of a granite rock mass in a Paleozoic granite quarry(Strzegom,Poland)and a dolomite rock mass in a Triassic dolomite quarry(Podlesna,Poland).Application of the forward modelling supports the interpretation of seismic methods,simplifying data processing and verifying the final results based on data from difficult seismic conditions.As a result of direct measurements,two crack systems were determined in granite rock mass:NNE-SSW and NNW-SSE,and two in dolomite rock mass:NNE-SSW and NW-SE.Furthermore,the numerical results show the relationship between the highest values of P-and S-wave velocities and separated crack systems which allowed an unequivocal interpretation of the direction of stress,resulting in the deformations.The obtained information is promising to be helpful in mining exploration for optimising excavation works.

The theory of stochastic equations and the theory of equivalence of measures previously applied to flows in the boundary layer and in the pipe are considered to calculate the velocity profile of the flat jet.This theory previously made it possible to determine the critical Reynolds number and the critical point for the flow of the plane jet.Here based on these results the analytical dependence for the index of the velocity profile is derived.Velocity profiles are calculated for a laminar-turbulent transition in the jet.This formula reliably reflects an increase of the energy transferred from a deterministic state to a random one with an increase of the index of the velocity profile.Results show satisfactory agreement with the known experimental data for the velocity profile of the flat jet.Using obtained results it is possible to determine the location of technical devices for laminarization of the flow in the jet.This is important both for reducing friction in the flow around aerodynamic vehicles and for maintaining the jet profile if it is necessary to ensure the stability of the flow characteristics.Also the obtained relations can be useful for researching of the processes in combustion chambers,in the case of welding and in other technical devices.

The oncological outcome of patients with locally advanced pancreatic cancer continues to be dismal. Abutment or invasion of visceral arteries, which constitutes irresectability according to the consensus of the International Association of Pancreatology and can be found in a considerable proportion of patients upon initial diagnosis, usually precludes complete resection in curative intent. Simultaneous tumor resection and arterial reconstruction are associated with relevant morbidity and mortality. Here, we present a case in which a therapeutic split was done so that isolated arterial reconstruction (visceral debranching with an iliacohepatic bypass graft) preceded neoadjuvant FOLFIRINOX chemotherapy and subsequent multivisceral tumor resection. Despite several perioperative vascular complications, which were addressed by surgical and endovascular techniques, the patient had a favorable outcome of the operations and is tumor-free after 8 months of follow-up. The feasibility and safety of this novel therapeutic strategy of a therapeutic split with isolated visceral debranching as the first treatment step is currently evaluated in a clinical trial (PREVADER, NCT04136769).

Research interests have recently been directed towards electrical discharges in multi-phase environments.Natural electrical discharges,such as lightning and coronas,occur in the Earth＇s atmosphere,which is actually a mixture of gaseous phase（air） and suspended solid and liquid particulate matters（PMs）.An example of an anthropogenic gaseous multi-phase environment is the flow of flue gas through electrostatic precipitators（ESPs）,which are generally regarded as a mixture of a post-combustion gas with solid PM and microdroplets suspended in it.Electrical discharges in multi-phase environments,the knowledge of which is scarce,are becoming an attractive research subject,offering a wide variety of possible discharges and multi-phase environments to be studied.This paper is an introduction to electrical discharges in multi-phase environments.It is focused on DC negative coronas and accompanying electrohydrodynamic（EHD） flows in a gaseous two-phase fluid formed by air（a gaseous phase） and solid PM（a solid phase）,run under laboratory conditions.The introduction is based on a review of the relevant literature.Two cases will be considered：the first case is of a gaseous two-phase fluid,initially motionless in a closed chamber before being subjected to a negative corona（with the needle-toplate electrode arrangement）,which afterwards induces an EHD flow in the chamber,and the second,of a gaseous two-phase fluid flowing transversely with respect to the needle-to-plate electrode axis along a chamber with a corona discharge running between the electrodes.This review-based introductory paper should be of interest to theoretical researchers and modellers in the field of negative corona discharges in single-or two-phase fluids,and for engineers who work on designing EHD devices（such as ESPs,EHD pumps,and smoke detectors）.

The field of two-dimensional(2D)materials has stimulated considerable interest in the scientific community.Owing to quantum confinement in one direction,intriguing properties have been reported in 2D materials that cannot be observed in their bulk form.The advent of semiconducting 2D materials with a broad range of electronic properties has provided fascinating opportunities to design and configure next-generation electronics.One such emerging class is the family of III-VI monochalcogenides,the two prominent members of which are indium selenide(InSe)and gallium selenide(GaSe).In contrast to transition metal dichalcogenides,their high intrinsic mobility and the availability of a direct bandgap at small thicknesses have attracted researchers to investigate the underlying physical phenomena as well as their technological applications.However,the sensitivity of InSe and GaSe to environmental influences has limited their exploitation in functional devices.The lack of methods for their scalable synthesis further hinders the realization of their devices.This review article outlines recent advancements in the synthesis and understanding of the charge transport properties of InSe and GaSe for their integration into technological applications.A detailed summary of the improvements in the device structure by optimizing extrinsic factors such as bottom substrates,metal contacts,and device fabrication schemes is provided.Furthermore,various encapsulation techniques that have been proven effective in preventing the degradation of InSe and GaSe layers under ambient conditions are thoroughly discussed.Finally,this article presents an outlook on future research ventures with respect to ongoing developments and practical viability of these materials.

The paper presents the possibilities of,and methods for,acquiring,analysing and processing optical signals in order to recognise,identify and counteract threats on the contemporary battleground.The main ways electronic warfare is waged in the optical band of the electromagnetic wave spectrum have been formulated,including the acquisition of optical emitter signatures,as well as ultraviolet(UV)and thermal(IR)signatures.The physical parameters and values describing the emission of laser radiation are discussed,including their importance in terms of creating optical signatures.Moreover,it has been shown that in the transformation of optical signals into signatures,only their spectral and temporal parameters can be applied.This was confirmed in experimental part of the paper,which includes our own measurements of spectral and temporal emission characteristics for three types of binocular laser rangefinders.It has been further shown that through simple registration and quick analysis involving comparison of emission time parameters in the case of UV signatures in“solar-blind”band,various events can be identified quickly and faultlessly.The same is true for IR signatures,where the amplitudes of the recorded signal for several wavelengths are compared.This was confirmed experimentally for UV signatures by registering and then analyzing signals from several events during military exercises at a training ground,namely Rocket Propelled Grenade(RPG)launches and explosions after hitting targets,trinitrotoluene(TNT)explosions,firing armour-piercing,fin-stabilised,discarding sabots(APFSDS)or high explosive(HE)projectiles.The final section describes a proposed model database of emitters,created as a result of analysing and transforming the recorded signals into optical signatures.

Environmental factors may negatively contribute to a progressive worsening of semen quality,and differences in semen quality may result from different environmental exposures(regional differences)or lifestyle differences.Heavy metals are factors with a confirmed negative influence on male fertility.Among them,lead and cadmium are commonly found in human surroundings.Thus,we analyzed semen parameters(according to the World Health Organization 2010 recommendations)and semen lead and cadmium concentrations in 188 men from two different regions in Poland,a typical agricultural area and an industrial area,in couples that had been diagnosed with infertility.The assays were performed using flameless electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry.In the statistical analysis,regional comparisons and then taxonomic comparisons based on three parameters(age,semen concentration,and sperm morphology)were applied.We showed that more cadmium than lead accumulated in semen,a higher cadmium concentration was observed in semen obtained from men from the agricultural region,and better semen quality and lower cadmium concentrations were found in the semen of men from the industrial,more polluted region.We thus showed an existing regionalism in the sperm quality properties.However,semen parameters such as morphology and progressive and nonprogressive motility followed the same trends,regardless of the patient’s age,region,or class.We could conclude that the environment has a minor impact on sperm morphology and progressive and nonprogressive motility and that other existing factors could have an indirect influence on semen quality.
