In this work, the isonicotinamide was coordinated to the Cobalt ion in oxidation state +2. The relevance of this work is the investigation of the in vitro bactericidal potential of the synthesized complex when tested in Gram-positive and negative bacteria strains. This study is motivated by the need to obtain new materials that have antibiotic properties and that, in the future, may become an effective drug against resistant bacteria. A new coordination compound of Cobalt and isonicotinamide, [Co(H2O)(isn)3](BF4)2, was synthesized and described. The compound was characterized by thermoanalytical techniques TG-DTG and TG-DSC, where it was possible to propose the mechanism of thermal decomposition. Through the spectroscopy in the region of the medium infrared (FTIR), it is possible to infer the site of connection between isonicotinamide and metal. The bactericidal activity of [Co(H2O)(isn)3](BF4)2, CoCl2 and free Isonicotinamide were tested for the bacteria Streptococcus mutans (Gram+) and Escherichia coli (Gram−) and the synthesized compound showed to be sensitive for both bacteria.

Frequency domain analyses in electromyographic (EMG) signals are frequently applied to assess muscle fatigue and similar variables. Moreover, Fourier-based approaches are typically used for investigating these procedures. Nonetheless, Fourier analysis assumes the signal as stationary which is unlikely during dynamic contractions. As an alternative method, wavelet-based treatments do not assume this pattern and may be considered as more appropriate for joint time-frequency domain analysis. Based on the previous statements, the purpose of the present study was to compare the application of Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT) and Continuous Wavelet Transform (CWT) to assess muscle fatigue in dynamic exercise of a 1-km of cycling (time-trial condition). The results of this study indicated that CWT and STFT analyses have provided similar fatigue estimates (slope) (p> 0.05). However, CWT application represents lesser dispersion (pdespite the EMG signal did not change (p> 0.05) according to different methods, it is important to note that these responses seem to show greater values for CWT compared to STFT for 2 superficial muscles. Thereby, we are capable of considering CWT as a reliable and useful method to take into consideration when non-stationary or oscillating exercise models are evaluated.

Several studies with mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been developed in many species because of its ability to differentiate into other mesoderm lineages, capacity of self-regeneration, low immunogenicity, paracrine, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory and antiapoptotic effects which make them a promissory source to be used in therapeutic strategies. The aim of this study is to report the technique of harvest of bone marrow (BM) in the coxal tuberosity (CT) of buffaloes and its processing and cultivation. For this, after anesthetic block from the region corresponding to the CT, bone marrow harvesting was performed with a myelogram’s needle. The samples collected showed plastic adherence with 96 hours and took approximately 32 days to reach 80% confluence. And then differentiation into adipogenic and osteogenic lineages was performed. Samples showed morphological changes during differentiation protocol, but not all presented production of extracellular deposits of calcium or intracellular fat droplets. The anatomical site tested showed to be an alternative site of harvest of BM once provided with the appropriate isolation and culture of the mononuclear fraction. Moreover, the procedure was performed without difficulty and with great security. Based on this, it can be concluded that CT is an excellent anatomical site for isolation and culture of MSCs and the proposed technique is viable and feasible to be held in buffaloes.

Acrocomia aculeata (Jacq.) Lodd. shows possibilities for pharmaceutical, food and chemical use. However, its application is limited due to the loss of its bioactive components. Microencapsulation may be an alternative to reduce such problems. A step-by-step optimization approach was used in this work for preservation of bioactive compounds. The applied technique to microencapsulate the Acrocomia aculeata oil was efficient, producing between 64% and 99% of microcapsules and 59% to 97% of encapsulated oil. In the experimental design, temperature was the parameter that significantly influenced the carotenoids of microcapsules. Complex coacervation helped to preserve carotenoids and the antioxidant activity, and an interaction between the temperature and the content was observed for such preservation.

Pulmonary In Situ Adenocarcinoma with Mosaic Paving Pattern

CONTEXT: Adenocarcinoma already comprises half the cases of lung cancer. Its insidious clinical evolution contributes to the fact that, in absolute numbers, lung tumor is the cancer with the highest mortality in the world. When still in situ, the adenocarcinoma is even quieter, making its typical presentation on the computerized tomography of an irregular semisolid nodule smaller than 3.0 cm. It is often diagnosed in a finding of examination in an asymptomatic patient. The prevalence of in situ adenocarcinoma (ISA) is less than 5% of pulmonary malignancies and its radiological presentation with a diffuse mosaic paving pattern is even more unusual, mimicking other conditions more frequent to this finding. CASE REPORT: We describe the case of a 44-year-old male patient with a history of chronic smoking admitted to the emergency room at a referral hospital in S?o Paulo on 12/16/2016 with a complaint of progressive dyspnea associated with dry cough for 3 months, intermittent fever and weight loss of 8 kg in 2 months. A chest X-ray and computed tomography showed discrete focal points of peribroncovascular consolidation, predominantly central, areas with frosted glass attenuation associated with smooth thickening of the interlobular septa, sometimes interspersed with areas of preserved parenchyma, giving an aspect of “crazing paving” with diffuse distribution by the pulmonary parenchyma. The patient underwent a biopsy with the anatomicopathological diagnosis of primary Adenocarcinoma in situ of the lung. CONCLUSION: We emphasize that the “crazing paving” of adenocarcinoma in situ pulmonary should be considered and known by the radiologist, because although isolated it is a rare condition, its early distrust in cases of atypical evolution of the most common injuries can avoid a diagnosis in phases more advanced and higher mortality.

Research has shown that cells from adult fat tissue can effect long-term blood reconstitution. Fat-derived multipotentiality was ascribed to CD34+ perivascular populations from its prominent microvasculature, that represent mostly non-hemogenic, mesenchymal cells, although this tissue contains a CD34+45+ subset committed to a hemogenic fate. Here, in order to analyze cell subsets presenting hemogenic capabilities within fat, CD133/1+ and pericytes, the latter defined by CD140b (PDGFRb, Platelet-derived Growth Factor Receptor Beta) expression, were immunomagnetically selected from stromal-vascular fractions (SVF). In Vitro Colony Forming Unit (CFU) assays were negative for CD140b+ pericytes and positive for CD133/1+ cells when a prolonged CFU assay was performed, revealing fat as another store of primitive progenitors that retain hemogenic potential.

Cholangiocarcinomas are primary malignant tumors of the liver that arises from the epithelium lining the small intra and extrahepatic bile ducts, and has numerous histologic types and growth patterns. At computed tomography (CT) and magnetic ressonance (MR), it has various appearences which motivated the present study;we present a case within an atypical presentation. The objective is to show the variety of differential diagnoses before an atypical aspect and the importance of the imaging methods for the diagnosis. Cholangiocarcinoma is still an uncommon neoplasm, and CT and MR are crucial for accurate diagnosis and for differentiation from other hepatic tumorous and nontumorous lesions.

Background: Leprosy is a chronic infectious disease classified into two subgroups for therapeutic purposes:paucibacillary(PB)and multibacillary(MB),closely related to the host immune *** this context it is noteworthy looking for immunological biomarkers applicable as complementary diagnostic tools as well as a laboratorial strategy to follow-up leprosy household ***:: The cross-sectional study enrolled 49 participants,including 19 patients and 30 healthy *** blood mononuclear cells(PBMC)were isolated and incubated in the presence of Mycobacterium leprae *** cells were prepared for surface(CD4+and CD8+)and intracytoplasmic cytokine staining(IFN-γ,IL-4 and IL-10).Multiple comparisons amongst groups were carried out by ANOVA,Kruskal–Wallis,Student T or Mann–Whitney *** analysis of categorical variables was performed by *** biomarker signature analysis was conducted using the global median values for each biomarker index as the cut-off edge to identify the proportion of subjects with high biomarker ***: The cytokine signature analysis demonstrated that leprosy patients presented a polyfunctional profile of T-cells subsets,with increased frequency of IFN-γ+T-cell subsets along with IL-10+and IL-4+from CD4+T-cells,as compared to health Controls(Venn diagram report).Moreover,statistical analysis was carried out using parametric or non-parametric variance analysis followed by pairwise multiple comparisons,according to the data normality distribution.L(PB)displayed a polyfunctional profile characterized by enhanced percentage of IFN-γ+,IL-10+and IL-4+produced by most T-cell subsets,as compared to L(MB)that presented a more restricted cytokine functional profile mediated by IL-10+and IL-4+T-cells with minor contribution of IFN-γproduced by CD4+*** was that HHC(MB)exhibited enhanced frequency of IFN-γ+T-cells,contrasting with HHC(PB)that presented a cytokine profile limited t

Purpose: To evaluate the profile of in vitro susceptibility of yeasts isolated from cases of primary and espisodic vulvovaginitis to two antifungal agents. Methods: 40 Candida isolates from episodes of vulvovaginal candidiasis were identified by classic methodologies. The susceptibility testing of the in vitro fluconazole and ketoconazole activity against the isolates was accessed by E-test. Results: C. albicans was the most common species identified in 70% of the occurrences followed by C. glabrata (20%), C. tropicalis (7.5%), and C. guilliermondii (2.5%). In the susceptibility profile to antifungal agents, 12.5% and 16.7% of the isolates obtained from primary and episodic vulvovaginal candidiasis were resistant to fluconazole, respectively. To ketoconazole, we found that 6.25% and 12.5% of the isolates respectively from primary vulvovaginal candidiasis (PVVC) and episodic vulvovaginal candidiasis (EVVC) had high MIC values. Conclusions: E-test is a reliable method for the susceptibility testing of Candida spp. due to its simplicity, reproducibility, and lack of specialized equipment. Resistant strains and non-albicans species were verified more in cases of EVVC than in PVVC. Clinical and mycological cure of patients with episodic vulvovaginal candidiasis or complicated cases occurred after prolonged treatment and sometimes with multiple antifungals use.

Nutrients Available and Stable Carbon from Archaeological Black Earth

The present study aims affinity between available concentrations of phosphorus, micronutrients (Cu, Zn and Mn) and stable carbon (SC) in archaeological black earth (ABE) from area “Ilha de Terra”/Caxiuanã—Pará. The relevance of this study refers especially to the determination of carbon concentrations (total, oxidable and semi-labile carbon) directly associated with those of pyrogenic carbon, common in ABE, which should add their contributions to the understanding of soil organic matter recalcitrance. Chemical properties such as CEC and base saturation were determined for ABE and subjacent Latossoil. The available concentrations of nutrients were performed from sequential extraction F1 to F5 phases. Phosphorus was obtained by spectrophotometric method and micronutrients by MP-AES. TOC was determined by the combustion method;stable carbon was obtained from thermoxidation method CTO-375. The following results were obtained from ABE: CEC effective = 21 to 28 (cmolc·L-1);base saturation = 58% to 69%;Carbon concentrations (%): TOC = 2.95 to 3.94;SC = 0.25 to 0.88;semi-labile carbon = 1.75 to 3.63;oxidable = 2.11 to 3.65;inorganic carbon 0.01 to 0.38;P2O5 concentrations (mg·kg-1) in the ABE phases F3 (Fe-Mn oxides, F4 (organic ) and F5 (residual)) in the following order: 35 to 65;200 to 400;140 to 230. It was concluded that the chemical properties in ABE from Ilha de Terra site fall within the range of fertile and the high concentrations of phosphorus are biogenic origin. Phases F3 and F4 are those considered nutrient stocks from ABE studied area.
