Metal-air battery is an environmental friendly energy storage system with unique open structure.Magnesium(Mg)and its alloys have been extensively attempted as anodes for air batteries due to high theoretical energy density,low cost,and recyclability.However,the study on Mg-air battery(MAB)is still at the laboratory level currently,mainly owing to the low anodic efficiency caused by the poor corrosion resistance.In order to reduce corrosion losses and achieve optimal utilization efficiency of Mg anode,the design strategies are reviewed from microstructure perspectives.Firstly,the corrosion behaviors have been discussed,especially the negative difference effect derived by hydrogen evolution.Special attention is given to the effect of anode micro-structures on the MAB,which includes grain size,grain orientation,second phases,crystal structure,twins,and dislocations.For further improvement,the discharge performance,long period stacking ordered phase and its enhancing effect are considered.Meanwhile,given the current debates over Mg dendrites,the potential risk,the impact on discharge,and the elimination strategies are discussed.Microstructure control and single crystal would be promising ways for MAB anode.

NAD(P)H:quinone oxidoreductase 1(NQO1)is a flavin protease highly expressed in various cancer cells.NQO1 catalyzes a futile redox cycle in substrates,leading to substantial reactive oxygen species(ROS)production.This ROS generation results in extensive DNA damage and elevated poly(ADP-ribose)polymerase 1(PARP1)-mediated consumption of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NAD^(+)),ultimately causing cell death.Nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase(NAMPT),the rate-limiting enzyme in the NAD^(+)salvage synthesis pathway,emerges as a critical target in cancer therapy.The concurrent inhibition of NQO1 and NAMPT triggers hyperactivation of PARP1 and intensive NAD+depletion.In this study,we designed,synthesized,and assessed a novel series of proqodine A derivatives targeting both NQO1 and NAMPT.Among these,compound T8 demonstrated potent antitumor properties.Specifically,T8 selectively inhibited the proliferation of MCF-7 cells and induced apoptosis through mechanisms dependent on both NQO1 and NAMPT.This discovery offers a promising new molecular entity for advancing anticancer research.

Photometric Analysis for Asteroid (81) Terpsichore using Convex Inversion and Phase Function Fitting Methods

The shapes and rotation states（periods and pole orientations） of main-belt asteroids are important for understanding their formation and evolution. In order to obtain sufficient photometric data covering different apparitions for asteroid （81） Terpsichore, ground-based photometric observations in 2020 and 2021 were carried out. By combining published and newly obtained photometric data, we calculated the shape and spin parameters for （81） Terpsichore using the convex inversion method. With this method, we have derived a best fitted pole orientation—(22.2±3.13.3°, 17.5±5.510.8°) with a spin period of 10.94 ±0.010.01h. Based on the derived convex shape of （81） Terpsichore, we have fitted the H, G+1, G2phase function using the calibrated TESS data and Gaia data after accounting for the lightcurve amplitude correction. As a result, we have derived its absolute magnitude H = 8.68 ±0.190.22mag with corresponding phase function parameters G1= 0.82 ±0.100.09and G2= 0.02±0.020.03.

The Cretaceous was a significant greenhouse period in Earth's history with higher atmospheric CO_(2) levels and temperatures than today. Although evidence of combustion has been widely described from the Cretaceous deposits, our understanding of the spatiotemporal diversification pattern and process of the Cretaceous wildfires is still limited. In this study, we comprehensively synthesize a total of 271 published Cretaceous wildfire occurrences based on the by-products of burning, including fossil charcoal, pyrogenic inertinite(fossil charcoal in coal), and pyrogenic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs). Spatially, the dataset shows a distinctive distribution of reported wildfire evidence characterized by high concentration in the middle latitudinal areas of the Northern Hemisphere(30°N-60°N) over the Cretaceous. Temporally, an overall increasing trend of the reported wildfire data from the Early Cretaceous to the Late Cretaceous is coincident with higher atmospheric O_(2) levels. However, the spatial and temporal patterns may result from many types of factors, such as taphonomy, preservation, and researcher biases, instead of a real picture of the Cretaceous wildfire evolution. To better understand the spatiotemporal diversification of the Cretaceous wildfire, more investigations on the record of wildfire occurrences during this period would be necessary in the future.

Performance Characterization of CR/PU Asphalt for Potential Application in Assembled Fast-Repairing Engineering

Conventional repairing methods for asphalt pavement have some inconveniences,such as insufficient strength,and are typically time-consuming.To address these issues,this study proposes a new technological method to design and prepare a high-performance assembled asphalt concrete block for fast repair of the potholes.A series of composite modified asphalt binders with 10%crumb rubber(CR)and different dosages(0%,1%,3%,5%)of polyurethane(PU)are examined to determine the optimized binder.Subsequently,the corresponding asphalt mixtures are prepared for further comparison and assessment of engineering properties,such as moistureinduced damage,high-temperature deformation,and low-temperature cracking characteristics.The test results show that PU can significantly improve the high-temperature performance and hardness of(crumb rubber modified asphalt)CRMA binder;3%PU contributes allowing the resistance of CRMA mixture to moisture-induced damage at higher levels,particularly under water whole immersion;as 3%PU is added,the high-temperature rutting deformation resistance of the CRMA mixture increases significantly,and the low-temperature anti-cracking properties are also improved slightly.Therefore,the innovatively designed high-quality assembled fast-repairing asphalt concrete block is recommended as an appropriate option for highway maintenance.

Presented here is a one-pot strategy starting from rationally designed macrocyclic precursors for the diverse construction of sophisticated ultracycles.The type and amount of the base were found to significantly influence the macrocyclization outcome.The use of 4.0 equiv.CsF resulted in ultracycles of both types A and B while the presence of CsF larger than 6.0 equiv.produced only type B ultracycles.Existence of anion template increased the total yields and affected the distribution of the ultracycles.The ultracycles can accommodate large organic dicarboxylates anions via multiple anion-πand hydrogen bonds,and show selectivity to the size-matched heptanedioate(C7^(2−)).Based on all possible species and relevant equilibrium constants as well as material and charge balances,a numerical iterative algorithm was developed and applied to fit the association constants of B2H with dicarboxylates from glutarate(C5^(2−))to octanedioate(C8^(2−)),which gave association constants up to 10^(3) L/mol.

BACKGROUND Patatin like phospholipase domain containing 8(PNPLA8)has been shown to play a significant role in various cancer entities.Previous studies have focused on its roles as an antioxidant and in lipid peroxidation.However,the role of PNPLA8 in colorectal cancer(CRC)progression is unclear.AIM To explore the prognostic effects of PNPLA8 expression in CRC.METHODS A retrospective cohort containing 751 consecutive CRC patients was enrolled.PNPLA8 expression in tumor samples was evaluated by immunohistochemistry staining and semi-quantitated with immunoreactive scores.CRC patients were divided into high and low PNPLA8 expression groups based on the cut-off va-lues,which were calculated by X-tile software.The prognostic value of PNPLA8 was identified using univariate and multivariate Cox regression analysis.The over-all survival(OS)rates of CRC patients in the study cohort were compared with Kaplan-Meier analysis and Log-rank test.RESULTS PNPLA8 expression was significantly associated with distant metastases in our cohort(P=0.048).CRC patients with high PNPLA8 expression indicated poor OS(median OS=35.3,P=0.005).CRC patients with a higher PNPLA8 expression at either stage I and II or stage III and IV had statistically significant shorter OS.For patients with left-sided colon and rectal cancer,the survival curves of two PN-PLA8-expression groups showed statistically significant differences.Multivariate analysis also confirmed that high PNPLA8 expression was an independent prog-nostic factor for overall survival(hazard ratio HR=1.328,95%CI:1.016-1.734,P=0.038).

BACKGROUND Neonatal hypertension is a rare but potentially serious condition that requires careful monitoring and treatment.Pharmacogenomics can help guide individualized drug therapy and improve outcomes.CASE SUMMARY We report a case of a preterm infant with multiple complications,including bronchopulmonary dysplasia(BPD),sepsis,intracranial hemorrhage,and hypertension.The infant was treated with various drugs,including dexamethasone and amlodipine.The infant was diagnosed with neonatal hypertension based on blood pressure measurements exceeding the 95th percentile for his age and sex.The possible causes of hypertension included dexamethasone,hydrochlorothiazide,spironolactone,and BPD.The infant was treated with oral amlodipine to lower his blood pressure.A pharmacogenomic test was performed to evaluate the genetic polymorphisms of ABCB1 and CYP3A5,which are involved in the metabolism and transport of dexamethasone and amlodipine.The infant’s blood pressure was well controlled after the dose of amlodipine was reduced according to the pharmacogenomic results.The infant had a stable general condition and was discharged on the 100th d after birth.CONCLUSION This case illustrates the importance of regular blood pressure monitoring and etiological investigation in preterm infants with hypertension.Pharmacogenomics can provide useful information for individualized drug therapy and safety in this population.

Programmed cell death 1 ligand 1(PD-L1)is an important immunosuppressive molecule,which inhibits the function of T cells and other immune cells by binding to the receptor programmed cell death-1.The PD-L1 expression disorder plays an important role in the occurrence,development,and treatment of sepsis or other inflammatory diseases,and has become an important target for the treatment of these diseases.Mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)are a kind of pluripotent stem cells with multiple differentiation potential.In recent years,MSCs have been found to have a strong immunosuppressive ability and are used to treat various inflammatory insults caused by hyperimmune diseases.Moreover,PD-L1 is deeply involved in the immunosuppressive events of MSCs and plays an important role in the treatment of various diseases.In this review,we will summarize the main regulatory mechanism of PD-L1 expression,and discuss various biological functions of PD-L1 in the immune regulation of MSCs.
