Predicting short-term thromboembolic risk following Roux-en-Y gastric bypass using supervised machine learning

Background:Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)virus affected more people than SARS-CoV-1 and related *** genetic factors,besides respiratory droplets and direct exposure to the virus,are found highly responsible for transmitting SARS-CoV-2 ***:The objective of this study was to determine the plasma levels of the TMPRSS2 gene and its role in SARS-CoV-2 ***:A total of 100 patients,i.e.50 SARS-CoV-2 positive patients as the case group and 50 SARS-CoV-2 negative samples as the control group,were selected randomly and included in this case-control study to determine the association between TMPRSS2 gene and susceptibility to SARS-CoV-2 infection and severity of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).The TMPRSS2 levels of case and control samples were measured through an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(eLISA).Following the genomic DNA extraction,a set of reverse and forward primers of human TMPRSS2 gene primers were used for the amplification of the TMPRSS2 ***:In the control group,the ratio of men to women was more or less the same while in the case group 62%of the population were *** TMPRSS2 level was found to be 4.70±7.7 ng/ml in case samples while it was 4.73±5.7 ng/ml in control ***:The levels of TMPRSS2 in plasma samples of both controls and cases were found to be the same indicating that the entry of SARS-CoV-2 is not dependent on the plasma levels of this protein.

Breeding Potential of Some exotic Tomato Lines:A Combined Study of Morphological Variability,Genetic Divergence,and Association of Traits

Tomato(Solanum lycopersicum L.)is called‘the poor man’s orange’due to its low price and improved nutritional *** experiment was conducted to study the breeding potential of some exotic tomato lines by assessing various qualitative and quantitative traits conferring yield and quality *** the qualitative traits,greater variability was observed for growth type,stem hairiness,and fruit shape and size.A determinate growth habit was observed in the genotype AVTO9802 while the genotype AVTO0102 produced yellow color fruits.A significant(p≤0.01)variation was also observed for the studied quantitative *** on yield and traits attributed to yield,the genotypes AVTO0314,GPB0107,GPB0120 and AVTO9802 were selected as promising *** differences between the genotypic and phenotypic coefficients of variation(GCV and PCV)of the studied quantitative traits were very *** suggests that the apparent variation was mainly due to the *** higher GCVand PCV values were observed for the number of primary branches plant^(−1)(NPB),number of fruits cluster^(−1)(NFC),individual fruit weight(IFW)and total soluble solids(TSS).High heritability was recorded for all quantitative traits in a broad ***,the individual fruit diameter showed the highest heritability(99.56).The highest(102.75)genetic advance(GA)was observed for the number of fruits plant^(−1)(NFP).High heritability coupled with high GA as percentage of mean were recorded for the traits NFP,NFC,fruit yield plant^(−1)(FYP)and *** showed a significant positive correlation with NFC(0.714^(***))and a negative correlation with days to the first harvest(−0.539^(***))and plant height(−0.492**).Principal component analysis revealed that the first four components explained 78.5%of the total variation among the ***,the promising genotypes(AVTO0314,GPB0107,GPB0120,AVTO9802 and AVTO0102)isolated from this study can be used for developing high-yielding and high-quality tomato va

Characterization of lipid parameters in diabetic and non-diabetic atherosclerotic patients

Background ＆ Objective The relationship between lipid profile perturbation and diabetes associated complications has long been an area of interest. Dyslipidemia is a potent predictor of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in diabetic patients. The aim of present study was to investigate relationship between aging and lipid profiles in diabetic and non-diabetic atherosclerotie patients. Methods Five hundred and seventy six individuals （45-75 year age） participated in this study. Among these, 192 were having history of diabetes mellitus and atherosclerosis. Individuals are categorized on the base of health （normal, non-diabetic atheroselerosis, diabetic atherosclerosis） and age （45-55 years, 56~55 years, and 66-75 years）. All the participants were subjected to the procedures like a detailed history, biochemical analysis for fasting blood sugar, hemoglobin Alc, total cholesterol （TC）, triglycerides （TG）, low-density lipoprotein-（LDL）, very low-density lipoprotein （VLDL） and high-density lipoprotein （HDL）. All these parameters were compared between diabetic and non-diabetic atherosclerotic patients of all three age groups. TC/HDL and LDL/HDL were also calculated. Results Diabetic atherosclerotic individuals （both males and females） had high level of TC, TG, LDL, VLDL and low level of HDL in comparison to non-diabetic atherosclerotie and normal control individuals. Among all three age groups, lipoprotein abnormality was observed to be more frequent in females than males. There was a significant increase in TC/HDL and LDL/HDL ratio in diabetic atherosclerotic subjects compared to age and sex matched non-diabetic atherosclerotic and normal control. Conclusions Degree of dyslipidemia increases with increase in age in both genders. Female are more prone to diabetic dyslipidemia and hence have more risk of developing atherosclerosis with increasing age.

Correlation between DKK-1 Level and Bone Density Status in Children on Maintenance Haemodialysis

Background: Renal osteodystrophy (ROD) is a bone disorder resulting from chronic kidney disease (CKD) and related metabolic diseases. Dickkopf-related protein-1 (DKK-1) is critical in regulating bone biology. This study aimed to evaluate the serum DKK-1 level as a bone marker in children with CKD who undergo regular hemodialysis (HD). Subjects and Methods: This case-control study involved 40 children with CKD on HD and 40 healthy children as controls. The study measured serum DKK-1 levels and performed a dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry scan (DeXA) in line with routine laboratory investigations. Results: There was a significant increase in the serum level of DKK-1 in the patient group compared to the control group. The DKK-1 levels were 2540.65 (2215.4 - 2909.2) pg/ml and 1110.45 (885.45 - 1527.65) pg/ml, respectively, with a p-value of less than 0.001. In the hemodialysis group, 25 patients (62.5%) had low bone mineral density (BMD) with a Z-score of under -2.0. eighteen of these patients had low BMD in both the neck of the femur and lumbar spines. Additionally, there was a significant increase in serum DKK-1 level in patients with low BMD (2567.35 (2303.8 - 3108.1) pg/ml) compared to patients with normal BMD (2454 (1859 - 2820) pg/ml) (p = 0.041). There was also a significant positive correlation between DKK1 level and phosphorus, alkaline phosphatase, and Parathormone serum levels. In conclusion, the study indicates a clear correlation between DKK-1 and BMD in children undergoing maintenance hemodialysis. DKK1 is a promising biomarker for CKD-MBD.

Perovskite solar cells(PSCs)have made great advances in terms of power conversion efficiency(PCe),yet their subpar stability continues to hinder their *** interface between the perovskite layer and the charge-carrier transporting layers plays a crucial role in undermining the stability of *** this work,we propose a strategy to stabilize high-performance PSCs with PCe over 23%by introducing a cesium-doped graphene oxide(GO-Cs)as an interlayer between the perovskite and hole-transporting *** GO-Cs treated PSCs exhibit excellent operational stability with a projected T80(the time where the device PCe reduces to 80%of its initial value)of 2143 h of operation at the maximum powering point under one sun illumination.

Background: The robustness is a measurement of an analytical chemical method and its ability to contain unaffected by little with deliberate variation of analytical chemical method parameters. The analytical chemical method variation parameters are based on pH variability of buffer solution of mobile phase, organic ratio composition changes, stationary phase (column) manufacture, brand name and lot number variation;flow rate variation and temperature variation of chromatographic system. The analytical chemical method for assay of Atropine Sulfate conducted for robustness evaluation. The typical variation considered for mobile phase organic ratio change, change of pH, change of temperature, change of flow rate, change of column etc. Purpose: The aim of this study is to develop a cost effective, short run time and robust analytical chemical method for the assay quantification of Atropine in Pharmaceutical Ophthalmic Solution. This will help to make analytical decisions quickly for research and development scientists as well as will help with quality control product release for patient consumption. This analytical method will help to meet the market demand through quick quality control test of Atropine Ophthalmic Solution and it is very easy for maintaining (GDP) good documentation practices within the shortest period of time. Method: HPLC method has been selected for developing superior method to Compendial method. Both the compendial HPLC method and developed HPLC method was run into the same HPLC system to prove the superiority of developed method. Sensitivity, precision, reproducibility, accuracy parameters were considered for superiority of method. Mobile phase ratio change, pH of buffer solution, change of stationary phase temperature, change of flow rate and change of column were taken into consideration for robustness study of the developed method.
