BACKGROUND 2D-echocardiography(2DE)has been the primary imaging modality in children with Kawasaki disease(KD)to assess coronary *** To report the presence and implications of incidental congenital coronary artery anomalies that had been misinterpreted as coronary artery abnormalities(CAAs)on *** Records of children diagnosed with KD,who underwent computed tomography coronary angiography(CTCA)at our center between 2013-2023 were *** identified 3 children with congenital coronary artery anomalies in this cohort on *** of CTCA and 2DE were compared in these 3 *** Of the 241 patients with KD who underwent CTCA,3(1.24%)had congenital coronary artery anomalies on CTCA detected *** all 3 patients,baseline 2DE had identified *** was then performed for detailed evaluation as per our unit ***(11-year-boy)amongst the 3 patients had complete KD,while the other two(3.3-year-boy;4-month-girl)had incomplete *** revealed separate origins of left anterior descending artery and left circumflex from left sinus[misinterpreted as dilated left main coronary artery(LCA)on 2DE],single coronary artery(interpreted as dilated LCA on 2DE)and dilated right coronary artery on 2DE in case of anomalous origin of LCA from the main pulmonary *** latter one was subsequently operated *** CTCA is essential for detailed assessment of coronary arteries in children with KD especially in cases where there is suspicion of congenital coronary artery *** solely on 2DE may not be sufficient in such cases,and findings from CTCA can significantly impact therapeutic decision-making.

Objective To study the effects of diallyl sulfide (DAS), an organosulfur compoundpresent in garlic (Allium sativum), on the life span of ehrlich ascites (EA) tumor bearingSwiss albino mice, cytotoxicity and angiogenesis. Methods EA tumor cells weremaintained by serial transplantation in peritoneal cavity of male Swiss albino mice. EAtumor cells were inoculated at concentrations of 1× 106 EA cells, 2.5× 106 EA cells and5× 106 EA cells. DAS was given in 0.2 ml normal saline i. p., daily for seven days followedone hour later by inoculation with EA cells in respective groups. Results The resultsrevealed that administration of DAS increased the life span of EA tumor bearing animals bymore than 25 percent. A significant dose dependant cytotoxic response of DAS was alsoobserved on EA tumor cells. DAS was also found to inhibit the angiogenesis in EA tumorbearing mice in a dose dependent manner. Conclusion It is suggested that DAS may exertits anticarcinogenic effects by more than one mechanism and is a useful chemopreventiveand chemotherapeutic agent.

Inhibition of nitrification in soil by metal diethyldithiocarbamates

Nitrification acts as a key process in determining fertilizer use efficiency by crops as well as nitrogen losses from soils. Metal dithiocarbamates in addition to their pesticidal properties can also inhibit biological oxidation of ammonium(nitrification) in soil. Metal [M=V(Ⅲ), Cr(Ⅲ), Mn(Ⅱ), Fe(Ⅲ), Ni(Ⅱ), Cu(Ⅱ), Zn(Ⅱ) and Co(Ⅱ)] diethyldithiocarbamates (DEDTC) were synthesized by the reaction of sodium diethyldithiocarbamate with metal chloride in dichloromethane/water mixture. These metal diethyldithiocarbamates were screened for their ability to inhibit nitrification at different concentrations(10 μg/g soil, 50 μg/g soil and 100 μg/g soil). With increasing concentration of the complex, capacity to retard nitrification increased but the extent of increase varied for different metals. At 100 μg/g soil, different complexes showed nitrification inhibition from 22 36% to 46 45%. Among the diethyldithiocarbamates tested, Zn(DEDTC) 2 proved to be the most effective nitrification inhibitor at 100 μg/g soil. Manganese, iron and chromium diethyldithiocarbamates also proved to be effective nitrification inhibitors than the others at 100 μg/g soil. The order of percent nitrification inhibition in soil by metal diethyldithiocarbamates was: Zn(Ⅱ) > Mn(Ⅱ) > Fe(Ⅲ) > Cr(Ⅲ) >V(Ⅲ) > Co(Ⅱ) > Ni(Ⅱ) > Cu(Ⅱ).

The existence of squeezing ground conditions can lead to significant challenges in designing an adequate support system for *** empirical,observational and analytical methods have been suggested over the years to design support systems in squeezing ground conditions,but all of them have some *** this study,a novel experimental setup having physical model for simulating the tunnel boring machine(TBM)excavation and support installation process in squeezing clay-rich rocks is *** observations are made to understand better the interaction between the support and the squeezing *** physical model included a large true-triaxial cell,a miniature TBM,laboratoryprepared synthetic test specimen with properties similar to natural mudstone,and an instrumented cylindrical aluminum support *** were conducted at realistic in situ stress levels to study the time-dependent three-dimensional tunnel support *** tunnel was excavated using the miniature TBM in the cubical rock specimen loaded in the true-triaxial cell,after which the support was *** confining stress was then increased in stages to values greater than the rock’s unconfined compressive strength.A model for the time-dependent longitudinal displacement profile(LDP)for the supported tunnel was proposed using the tunnel convergence measurements at different times and stress *** LDP formulation was then compared with the unsupported model to calculate the squeezing amount carried by the *** increase in thrust in the support was backcalculated from an analytical solution with the assumption of linear elastic *** on the test results and case studies,a recommendation to optimize the support requirement for tunnels in squeezing ground is proposed.
