Potential drug–drug interactions in pediatric wards of Gondar University Hospital,Ethiopia:A cross sectional study

Objective: To determine the prevalence, level of severity of potential drug–drug interactions(PDDIs) and the associated factors for PDDIs in hospitalized pediatric patients of Gondar University ***: A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted for a period of 3 months from March to May 2014 in pediatric wards of Gondar University Hospital. Systematic random sampling technique was used to select charts from all pediatric patients' charts with every 7th interval to get sample size of 384. Univariate and multivariate analysis were performed to compute crude odds ratio and adjusted odds ratio respectively. Statistical significance was set at P value < ***: A total of 176(45.8%) patients had at least one PDDI. A total of 393 PDDIs,which were comprised of 283 types of interacting combinations, were identified. Of the total of 393 PDDIs, most were of moderate severity [201(51%)] followed by minor [152(39%)] and major severity [40(10%)]. The most common interacting pairs of major severity were gentamicin + furosemide(6), cotrimoxazole + methotrexate(4) and phenytoin + artemether(4). The occurrence of PDDIs was significantly associated with age and ***: The study showed that most of the interactions had moderate severity followed by minor severity. Age and polypharmacy were found to show statistically significant association with the occurrence of PDDIs. Due to sensitive nature of pediatrics population, close monitoring is recommended for the detection and management of PDDIs to prevent its negative consequences.

Determination of glycated hemoglobin in patients with advanced liver disease

AIM:To evaluate the glycated hemoglobin(HbA_(1c)) determination methods and to determine fructosamine in patients with chronic hepatitis,compensated cirrhosis and in patients with chronic hepatitis treated with ribavirin. METHODS:HbA_(1c) values were determined in 15 patients with compensated liver cirrhosis and in 20 patients with chronic hepatitis using the ion-exchange high performance liquid chromatography and the immunoassay methods. Fructosamine was determined using nitroblue tetrazolium. RESULTS:Forty percent of patients with liver cirrhosis had HbA_(1c) results below the non-diabetic reference range by at least one HbA_(1c)method,while fructosamine results were either within the reference range or *** percent of patients with chronic hepatitis(hepatic fibrosis) had HbA_(1c)results below the non-diabetic reference range by at least one HbA_(1c)*** patients with chronic hepatitis treated with ribavirin,50% of HbA_(1c)results were below the non-diabetic reference using at least one of the HbA_(1c)methods. CONCLUSION:Only evaluated in context with all liver function parameters as well as a red blood count including reticulocytes,HbA_(1c)results should be used in patients with advanced liver ***_(1c)and fructosamine measurements should be used with caution when evaluating long-term glucose control in patients with hepatic cirrhosis or in patients with chronic hepatitis and dbavidn treatment.

随着人们生活水平的提高,具有防龋功能的含氟牙膏越来越受到公众的关注和喜爱。含氟牙膏的游离氟在国家标准中有明确规定,主要采用氟离子电极法测定。但是,该方法效率低,自动化程度低,不能很好地测定游离氟的含量。本项目研究建立了英蓝超滤-离子色谱法同时对含氟牙膏中游离氟含量检测的分析方法。本项目从样品前处理着手,分别考察了提取剂类型、提取方法和提取时间,获得了最佳的前处理方法,本方法具有操作简单,自动化程度高,分离效果较好等优点。同时,考察了淋洗液体系和流速等色谱条件,经过十种常规离子的干扰性测试检验,获得了最佳的色谱分析方法。方法的适用性通过线性相关性、检出限、加标回收率及精密度试验进行验证。实验结果表明,氟化物在供试溶液浓度0.01-25.00 mg/L范围内具有良好的线性相关性,相关系数r为0.9995,方法检出限(MDL)为0.001 mg/g,三次水平加标回收率在92.00-104.00%之间,6个平行测定结果的RSD在0.55-4.90%之间,3个样品的检测结果与国标方法和标记值基本一致。本方法具有灵敏度高、线性范围宽、重复性好的优点,可实现对含氟牙膏中多种阴离子的同时快速、准确测定。在此工作基础上,我们还对绍兴地区部分市售含氟牙膏中游离氟含量进行检测,并与氟离子选择电极法和标签值相比较,结果令人满意。综上所述,蓝英超滤-离子色谱法在牙膏检测中具有高效、灵敏、自动化程度高等优点,是测定牙膏游离氟的有效方法。

在给出上盘中变形标志层的形态与水平断距或位移距后,可以用现有的几何模型建立断层形态。这些模型帮助把正断层延伸到缺乏有效地震资料控制的深部。目前,尚不清楚哪种模式预测滚动与断层几何形态之间的实际关系最佳。为了弥补这一不足,使用粘土模型模拟和地震实例,评价了水平断距不变、位移距不变扣层长不变时滑移线和斜向剪切模型的精确性。由于假定的上盘变形机制不同,各种几何模型对于相同的滚动形态预测出不同的断层形态和滑脱深度。木文提出了一种根据已知断层形态确定上盘形态的作图法。这种作图法是基于斜向剪切模型和从固定于上盘与下盘块体的不同参照系观察时的物质位移路径所给予的约束条件。在粘土模型中,斜向剪切(反向剪切,α=20°)和滑移线作图法得出实际的与模拟的断层及滚动标志层形态之间最为一致的结果。对于地下实例,斜向剪切模型(反向剪切。(α=20°-40°)和位移距不变模型预测的断层迹线,与根据挪威近海和墨西哥湾地震剖面解释的主断层部分的位置及形态最为相似。斜向剪切模型中要求的剪切角常常可以根据上盘中小断层的产状来确定。剪切角也可以通过迭代模拟确定,在该方法中,有规则地变化剪切角,并将得出的模拟断层形态与地震记录解释的主断层浅部形态进行比较。

Introduction With recent advances in laparoscopic-surgery techniques and neoadjuvant therapy options,there have been improvements in sphincter-preservation outcomes in patients with low rectal cancer[1-3].However,several issues remain controversial,such as the incidence of anastomotic leakage,the local recurrence rate,and anal-function outcome[4-5].Moreover,prophylactic stoma at the end of sphincter-preserving surgery is necessary to prevent anastomotic leakage,especially in patients undergoing neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy[7].To avoid prophylactic colostomy and decrease excessive expense,we developed a new method of overlapped end-to-end anastomosis for treating low rectal cancer—a technique referred to as‘oversleeve anastomosis’.

目的探讨驾驶员焦虑水平与危险驾驶行为的关系。方法采用问卷调查法,分别使用贝克焦虑量表与dula危险驾驶行为量表(DDDI-dula Dangerous Driving Index)对1 282名驾驶员的焦虑水平与危险驾驶行为进行了评价并研究分析两者之间的相关性;对不同焦虑水平驾驶员的危险行为进行方差分析及秩和检验。结果(1)焦虑总分与危险驾驶量表总分以及三个子量表分数呈显著性正相关(P<0.01),(2)由方差分析和秩和检验显示,处于不同焦虑水平的驾驶员其危险驾驶行为在以下方面存在不同(P<0.05):DDDI总分、负面情绪驾驶、攻击性驾驶、危险驾驶、过去2周中尾随的数量、过去两周中阻碍其他车辆驾驶的数量、过去2周中超速且超过限速15英里/时的次数、过去两周中闯红灯的数量,过去两周内超速驶入应停车减速的区域的次数、过去3年中驾驶肇事次数以及过去一年中影响下驾驶的次数。结论驾驶员的焦虑水平可以影响危险驾驶行为,危险驾驶行为与高焦虑水平具有一定关系。

The Color of Natural Teeth Investigated by Visual Perception and Spectrophotometer

The advantage of electronic devices is to eliminate the subjectivity. Based on individual capabilities, visual perception has its disadvantages. The aim of this study was to find out the possible shade difference between the upper and lower teeth, visual perception versus spectrophotometry as well as proving that females are better in visual perception of colour matching. 82 subjects (dental students) of this study determined the color of each other’s natural teeth. The color of 1640 teeth (incisors, canines and premolars), was matched by visual perception and by Vita Easyshade spectrophotometer. The matching was focused on the middle third of buccal surfaces of the examined teeth. In this study, it was found that there was a difference of color between the teeth of the upper and lower jaw. The percentage of the accordance between two methods was 28.35% for all examined teeth. The color determination at central incisors showed the highest value of accordance 40.85%. Based on Vitapan 3D Mastershade, the most frequent color was 2M2.
